Avatar f tn I am currently on Lisinopril to keep my BP down (I have Cardiomyopathy after going into CHF from a virus that went to my heart). I have had a cough which is a side effect of Lisinopril. My doctor just gave me a RX for Losartan but this med is more expensive by quite a bit. I haven't had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects.
Avatar f tn I was referring to Laquinimod. Teva got in trouble with shareholders for saying it was better than it was. Teva planned to double their shares in 5 years. I guess no business plan is full proof. Also PBMs Pharmacy Benefit Manager's play a big part in the U.S.'s drug prices. Medco is one such manager. I was shocked when I went off a DMD and they went to great lengths to keep me on not for my sake but because of lost profits.
Avatar m tn My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply.
Avatar f tn I have recently started the patch and have found a difference between effectiveness of the two brands TEVA and MYLAN. First I had Teva 12mcg/72hrs (twice) then 2X 12mcg/72 (twice) and then went to 50mcg patches on the 72hr interval, so far twice. The 25mcg patches are Mylan brand and I noticed, pretty quickly, a decrease in effectiveness. Has anyone else? My pharmacy says I can specify... otherwise the script will be filled with Mylan.
Avatar n tn Yes, I have a history of SVT (supra ventricular tachycardia). I have had 2 ablations to treat it. My last surgery was in 2012 and my heart has been fine. My cardiologist felt my heart was still beating too fast so he put me on Carvedilol and I've been on it since then - it helped me feel much better as far as my heart rate. Now that I have been fainting, my Cardiologist decided to try switching my Carvedilol to Toprol XL and he wants me to try the Florinef.
Avatar f tn i am really responding to sean as i was given some very helpful information as i was on the green generic TEva klonopins 1mg for years and they just switched to actavis yellow pharmacist telling me its all about the cost.
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
572651 tn?1530999357 Most drugs are manufactured over seas. My generic Immitrex is made in India by Dr. Reddy ( a Teva company). Russia is the next big place for drug manufacturing. The we drugs we use are manufactured all over the world and then imported to the U.S.. I was surprised by this. More R&D is done overseas as well or done in the U.S. by foreign companies who get tax breaks from the U.S. Government.
2009161 tn?1327915695 I was worried so went to a doctor, the doctor checked my BP was 170/100, which was high as per the doctor, since then I am having LOSARTAN POTASIUM tablets of 50 mg every day prescribed by him, but still at times my BP in the evenings when I check is 150/100. Do I need to increase my dossage or continue with some physical excercises to reduce my BP, when ever I did some meditation for 10 mins, I checked with my electronic BP monitor it reduces compared to previous reading though.
Avatar n tn You need to have a neurological consult and request a flicker test. There is a unique form of epilepsy that only manifests itself when there is flicker, such as watching the rotating blades of a fan or seeing telephone poles whiz rapidly by. It isn't the Losartan. The inexpensive test, which is definitive, involves a technician exposing you to a wide range of flicker stimuli. The exact etiology is unknown.
Avatar f tn The Bristol-Myers Squibb ($BMY) hepatitis B drug saw its composition of matter patent invalidated in a court fight with Teva Pharmaceutical Industries ($TEVA), which wants to sell its own version. The patent had been due to expire in 2015. It's unclear whether the ruling will expose Baraclude to immediate generic competition.

Avatar f tn I sought the help of a pulmonologist, had X-rays twice the results were essentially normal chest xray and a tuberculin test which was read as positive by my doctor. Generally, I am aware that Filipinos are positive to mantoux test but I nevertheless, agreed that I am Tb positive because of my persistent cough. After a month of anti-tb medications, my cough still persists, my doctor then prescribed diflucan 150 thinking that I might have a fungal infection aside from tb.

Avatar n tn All drugs are processed by the liver to some degree. No way to get around that. What drugs to take? It depends on how damaged your liver is as to what drugs are appropriate. If you have little liver damage you can take anything you want as any other person can. Only if you have advanced fibrosis should you be concerned about the choice of meds.
Avatar m tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated.
Avatar m tn s that have been dealing with my blood pressure running 140/ 90 for a while my doctor put me on Losartan HCTZ 50- 12.5 and my pressure. After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78.
Avatar n tn A drug known for lowering blood pressure, losartan, has shown great promise to stop or even reverse fibrosis in Hep C patients The link is www.ihealthbulletin.
Avatar m tn I have to increase by dose by one pill (37.5) every 5 days. I feel like thats too quickly, but I just started seeing a psychitrist and I think she was even surprised by all my problems and that I didn't come for help years ago. She said it's harder to treat anxiety that's been there for so long but then again I should notice the affects of the drug sooner. I've already tried Cipralex and remeron with no results, so I'm praying with all my heart this one works.
