Avatar n tn OK, I just looked it up. Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
Avatar m tn m currently seeing a cardiologist that has me currently on losartan 100mg/25mg hctz...my blood pressure tends to average about 130/75 right now(with meds). I had a sinus infection in December that lasted over a month and a half..(none of these symptoms was present before this) since January....I have a weird pressure/fluidly feeling that comes in the back of my head with a pulsating beat, and I'll get pressure above my nose...
Avatar m tn s that have been dealing with my blood pressure running 140/ 90 for a while my doctor put me on Losartan HCTZ 50- 12.5 and my pressure. After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78.
Avatar m tn Im taking medication Losartan 100mg/hctz 25mg. I talked to my doctors nurse but he just said to keep exercising and doing everything regularly....I also get a bounding temple pulse after eating/ tipically evening...no jumps in blood pressure at this time on the monitor either... its really troubling but my doctor just tells me its better to feel a pulse then have no pulse...so idk what to do.
Avatar m tn No caffeine don't smoke or eat a lot of chocolate or junk food in rather healthy and active so it came at a surprise. I'm currently taking 1 losartan a day 50mg..my Bp is now in the 140-150 range it's still fluctuates higher and lower sometimes. Bottoms stay 70-85 it fluctuates right now too. I'm on the 4th day..I have been stressed lately about my health seems like slots going wrong all at once while I'm still young (22).
Avatar m tn Hey everyone thanks in advance for those of you that are reading this it Is greatly appreciated of any feed back. First of I'm 22 years of age, male about 6'2 kinda muscular 228 pounds, and pretty active. I've been diagnosed with hypertension and was put on losartan 50mg/hctz 12.5mg by my cardiologist when my blood pressure was running about 150-160/80-90 consistantly about 2 months ago.
Avatar f tn Doctor took me off ALL BP meds and my nose bled uncontrollably and I wound up in the hospital and was given clonidine as my pressure reached 100/97. Now I'm on 100 mg of losartan, no HCTZ, only a cough but....my pressure is not controlled and goes up as the day progresses. Any suggestions for something that works without these awful side effects?
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor and told him this when i had it and got told it was probably due to my blood pressure dropping
Avatar m tn Hi today I seen my cardiologist to follow up on my tests that were done (echocardiogram). I'm 22 years old, male, normal weight, 6'2, and I've been active my whole life in sports. I have hypertension and today I went in for my visit my blood pressure was 164/88.
2009161 tn?1327915695 I am currently taking losartan 100mg/hctz, I went to the doc today and my Bp was 170/80 very high systolic not sure why? I was somewhat anxious but I'm on meds just 22 years old so I understand your situation. I am heading tomorrow for another heart echo (had one in feb but by a different doc) hoping for good results. I also hope you find what your needing. Sorry I know I didn't help, just letting you know your not alone.
Avatar m tn Hello I'm 22 with hypertension I'm currently taking Losartan 100mg/hctz 25mg to try and maintain a decent reading. Today I played football (flag) for 2 hours straight, I played pretty hard, my Heart rate when I got home was 93...then I checked it an hour later it was 88 then 2 hours total since I played it was is still at 86....my normal resting Hr varies from higher 50's-70...is this ok it's taking this long to return? I've not played that hard in months...
Avatar m tn My cardiologist told me of this and I was, scared confused, so I came home googled and found it was very serious. I am now on losartan 100mg/hctz 25mg, and at night I take spironolacone 25mg. My blood pressure runs anywhere from 135/80-148/92 on the meds. I cannot use a beta blocker, because late evening my resting Heart Rate gets to low 50's. But during the day runs anywhere from 80-60 resting. Typically get 80 more often after a full meal.
Avatar f tn I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I seem to be very sensitive to these medications and felt starting right off with 100 mg was a bit high. Everything I've read online suggests people are usually started off with 50 mg.
Avatar m tn I am 76 and have similar symptoms. I too am taking hctz plus other meds daily for blood pressure, polymyalgia, gout, and suffer from tinnitus. You describe what I feel (MRI shows normal, so did Nuerological tests). Doctor thinks its just a side affect possibly of meds and my hearing problem which exagerates other symptoms. Im 6'0", 175#.
Avatar m tn I do take meds for hypertension, losartan, hctz, and spirolactone. Like right now I can see my temple vein(not a hard pulse) but is visible. I just checked my Bp and it's (125/63). I mentioned it to my doctor an he just said it's probably Blood pressure spikes after eating and dismisses the subject? Just wondering if you know of anyone that has this problem? It's really bothering.
Avatar m tn 52 year old male in good health. High BP controlled with Losartan/HCTZ. 30 LBS overweight. Some fatigue issues. Blood work on 03/09/16 indicated Total Bilirubin at 2.3 (normal range .2-1.2) Other liver enzymes normal. Blood work on 3/23/16 indicated Total Bilirubin at 2.6, Direct bilirubin .3. (Normal range <or =.2). My direct Bilirubin is just outside the normal range, (some labs say normal is <or =.3) Direct bilirubin is only 12% of the bilirubin total.
Avatar f tn Found out I am allergic to HCTZ (they were supposed to have caught that since I have documented six ways to Sunday about almost dying from a sulfa drug and HCTZ is a thiazide (thi = sulfur). (108 F fever and 6 months in the hospital). I did not focus on the drug composition since my file was so well documented. Live and learn. :) Among the HCTZ symptoms were abdominal cramps (labor intensity), diarrhea, nausea and vomiting for hours within 45 minutes of taking the pill.
Avatar m tn I am on glyburide 5mg 2x a day and metformin 1000mg 2x a day and just started losartan 50mg once a day. Was taking lisinopril hctz 20-12.5 once daily but had some side effects that I didn't like. I was wondering if by doing this I could put my diabetes into remission like some of the participants in the Newcastle study did or if genetics might have me screwed. Has anybody else had any experience with being able to get off there meds with a lifestyle change.
Avatar m tn Hello Thanks for taking time to view my post I had hypertension diagnosed for 2 yrs ago, I started meds about a year and a half ago. Avatar m tn I'm not sure I've had the same question myself, would love to know the answer. My nurse told me the digital ones can hear with better accuracy than the doctor can. I have also heard the manual ones are more accurate so idk. I have hypertension as well I'm 22 and pretty active and normal weight mine runs about 150/80 but manuals sometimes give me in the 130's/80 I'm currently takin Bp meds (losartan 50mg/Hctz 12.
Avatar m tn Saw the doc today and we changed from HCTZ to losartan. I got all my questions answered and some blood work was done. So far so good I guess, but for now, just happy everything is okay. Thank you for your help my friend.
