Avatar f tn Drug studies are only 4 to 8 weeks long I doub't there have ever been any long term (more than a year) studies on the long term use of gabapentin. For any one who is having trouble tapering off of gabapentin a magnesium supplement is very effective in reducing the severity of the withdrawal from gabapentin.
Avatar m tn You wanted had data? Take a look at these scientific articles, each of them showing that patient with underlining psychiatric conditions are at high risk for long -term psychotic episodes from psylocibin ingestion. Have fun. Vollenweider FX, Vollenweider-Scherpenhuyzen MF, Babler A, Vogel H, Hell D. (1998). "Psilocybin induces schizophrenia-like psychosis in humans via a serotonin-2 agonist action". NeuroReport 9 (17): 3897–902. Hyde C, Glancy P, Omerod P, Hall D, Taylor GS. (1978).
Avatar m tn Maybe now that the push is to get away from interferon there will be some truth coming out about the long term effects. My best to you, Dee.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.
Avatar f tn This is going to be a long story.. Back on the 9th of June, a small Roku remote landed on my head, later on that day I was in the shower and I patted my head with the bottom of my wrist in the same area the remote landed to straighten my hair out. I did experience nausea and a few headaches and even some memory loss here and there, but I'm not totally sure if that had anything to do with the remote landing on my head or my patting my head.
Avatar f tn That's a big dose. I'm not sure of long term memory effects.
963268 tn?1312900315 I have a friend with MS I've known since I was a kid...too many years ago. She's been in a wheel chair for 15 years and has no cognitive problems...My memory is getting worse. I think I'd rather be in the wheel chair.
Avatar f tn The reason that I have a fear of more memory damage or brain damage from certain meds or supplements is that while searching for medications and supplements to help with memory I have come across information that certain medications like aderall and others plus different types of supplements can actually cause memory damage with long term use, plus I already have memory problems and I don't need more and I am on other medications for other diseases that will have adverse effects when taken
Avatar m tn How long term? 6 months to a year is not that long to be on it, but if you are thinking like 5 to 10 years is more longer term. It is all definitely possible if it is needed, some times a drug will lose its ability to work after a while so has to be changed with another but I think if it works now then that's great and don't worry about the future to much, what will happen will happen. Sorry don't know about the memory and side effects long term.
Avatar f tn Ambien absolutely can cause memory loss, more commonly short-term issues, but also some people have reported problems with their long term memory as well. The good news is...if other causes have been ruled out, and Ambien seems to be the culprit, the memory issues will resolve most times after the Ambien is safely tapered.
612876 tn?1355514495 Alright, it's been a long time coming, but I've finally at least *started* it. I'm indexing my collection of journal articles where it's accessible to you all. Here in OUR health pages. This is going to be a labor of misery ....er, I mean LOVE. Ha! This is going to take a long time to complete, and of course as there are new journal articles coming out monthly ... NO, I don't even want to *think* about that. Let's just be happy that I embarked!!

Avatar f tn Although I have no problem remembering facts and figures and my short term memory is better than most, I have no long term memory of events. I know it's normal not to remember childhood, but I don't remember high school or college or anything I did there. In fact, my oldest memory is looking outside and seeing chairs on the lawn at my mom's birthday. That was two weeks ago and there only seems to be a vague, blank space before it. Memories just fade after a few weeks.
Avatar n tn s first suggestion was that I discontinue taking Ambien immediately; as it was causing my short term memory loss, upon further research on the subject, I learned that I am not alone. And that there are dozens, if not hundreds of others, and articles; which are written on the subject, and the association, or side effect of short term memory loss, while using, and apparently even after discontinuing Ambien CR 12.5 tablets! I've been taking Ambien 12.
Avatar m tn hey guys, I was diagnosed with short term memory back in high school...teachers were made aware of this issue & I was given extra time to take tests/study. A few years have passed since then, but I find that I seem to be forgetting things quicker than I used to. For instance, I couldnt even remember the name of a movie I saw with my friend two days ago or our conversation....sometimes conversations hours after they have occurred. is there anythinng I can do to help improve my memory???
Avatar n tn In Humans: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28374065/ In Animals: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-78976-x https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3652903/ And now we're concerned, we're almost giving up using progesterone. Is that really the case? Are there other (quality) articles refuting them? What's really the consensus and is it science/evidence based? Thanks so much.
560501 tn?1383612740 This is outside of my area of expertise, unfortunately, but I can point you in the direction of medical journal articles that DO mention the autonomic nervous system in conjunction with intra-ocular pressure.
Avatar m tn The hand tremors are 90 percent gone, the anxiety is gone, but the memory loss, long and short term remain. Can mercury cause long and short term memory loss that would last my whole life, even 45 years after the mercury exposure?
