Avatar m tn What type of learnig disabilities will cause problems with short term memory - working memory and organization?
Avatar f tn He has really bad short term memory. I mean he could of just stopped something and forget he did it 30 seconds later. Another thing is ill ask him take the trash bag out the can, empty the small can into the bag you took out the big can so your dad can take it outside because you cant take it outside by yourself. "Ok mom" but instead he just took the big trash outside by himself and does nothing with the little trash. He is in regular classes and still gets honor roll.
Avatar f tn Drug studies are only 4 to 8 weeks long I doub't there have ever been any long term (more than a year) studies on the long term use of gabapentin. For any one who is having trouble tapering off of gabapentin a magnesium supplement is very effective in reducing the severity of the withdrawal from gabapentin.
Avatar f tn Ambien absolutely can cause memory loss, more commonly short-term issues, but also some people have reported problems with their long term memory as well. The good news is...if other causes have been ruled out, and Ambien seems to be the culprit, the memory issues will resolve most times after the Ambien is safely tapered.
1051214 tn?1255828242 Wow! Yes, to make a very long story short... it took me a long time to realize it. And I"m ashamed to say it, but my youngest son in tears because he was so worried about two weeks before the surgery. I asked him "What's wrong?" No answer. And frankly my boys are 'very' open, we've taught them to be open about everything from puberty on up the list. But he couldn't answer me. This scared me.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.
Avatar f tn That's a big dose. I'm not sure of long term memory effects.
963268 tn?1312900315 I have a friend with MS I've known since I was a kid...too many years ago. She's been in a wheel chair for 15 years and has no cognitive problems...My memory is getting worse. I think I'd rather be in the wheel chair.
Avatar n tn I am having problems with cognitive skills I am 43 and feel like I am 70 I find myself having problems forming sentences and reaching for words, basic math skills and my short term memory although always affected has become pretty bad I will forget anything. I could live with most of it but the pain is something else. my family talked me into going into the hospital lol what a joke. Doctor says sorry there is nothing we can do for you!
Avatar m tn I have a severe difficulty staying focused. To the point where I can be having a conversation with somebody and the minute they turn around, I forget everything. I am afraid it is affecting my schooling as well. I can't remember much. Its like I have no short-term memory. what would you suggest I do? What type of medication can help me stay alert?
Avatar m tn How long term? 6 months to a year is not that long to be on it, but if you are thinking like 5 to 10 years is more longer term. It is all definitely possible if it is needed, some times a drug will lose its ability to work after a while so has to be changed with another but I think if it works now then that's great and don't worry about the future to much, what will happen will happen. Sorry don't know about the memory and side effects long term.
Avatar f tn Although I have no problem remembering facts and figures and my short term memory is better than most, I have no long term memory of events. I know it's normal not to remember childhood, but I don't remember high school or college or anything I did there. In fact, my oldest memory is looking outside and seeing chairs on the lawn at my mom's birthday. That was two weeks ago and there only seems to be a vague, blank space before it. Memories just fade after a few weeks.
Avatar m tn hey guys, I was diagnosed with short term memory back in high school...teachers were made aware of this issue & I was given extra time to take tests/study. A few years have passed since then, but I find that I seem to be forgetting things quicker than I used to. For instance, I couldnt even remember the name of a movie I saw with my friend two days ago or our conversation....sometimes conversations hours after they have occurred. is there anythinng I can do to help improve my memory???
Avatar m tn The hand tremors are 90 percent gone, the anxiety is gone, but the memory loss, long and short term remain. Can mercury cause long and short term memory loss that would last my whole life, even 45 years after the mercury exposure?
Avatar m tn I seem to get mini attacks in the mornings, right as im waking up. I know that its addictive. What im wondering if long term use can affect the brain? Im very forgetful and misplace things all the time. I know that comes with age , I"ll be 60 in Oct. and am told that at that age people usualy lose 55% of thier short term memory. Can alprazolam cause brain problems? I read something about the ventricles inlarging. How lomg can an individual take this drug??
Avatar n tn Yes Fentanyl or any narcotic can effect our short term memories, regardless of our age. Physicians walk the fine line of memory impairment or pain management. It is my guess you would rather see your mother with some memory disturbances instead of dealing with chronic pain that would make her days and nights absolutely miserable.
Avatar n tn Hi I don't know I am just a lay person but I would be cautious about using any sleep medication with untreated sleep apnea. I wonder if your symptoms are the result of the sleep apnea vs the medication. Disturbed sleep can leave you feeling tired and low oxygen saturation levels could explain poor memory. I don't know of any long-term effects of Remeron. I have read that increased blood fats could pose a risk for some people though. This is said to be rare.
Avatar m tn but i always attributed it to being on a benzo for so long....i know that benzos (ativan, valium, xanax, etc.) definitely mess with your short-term memory.....i didn't realize that opiates could.....hmmmmmm....now i wonder....yes, another excellent reason to get off everything! i'm trying, but it is da**mned hard! only on day 4 here.....feel like i'm fighting a war every single minute of the day and night....
Avatar f tn Short term memory loss at your age sounds odd, Get it checked out asp. Try not to worry meanwhile. Memory is precious, long term seems to stay intact when the short term goes in my case.
