Avatar f tn Following a heart attack back in October 2007, I am not at much of a loss of memory. however at times I could feel how sharper my memory was before the onset of the ailment. I would forget for a moment even names of closely known people.The event is however brief and i would soon gain my memory back.I would attribute possible reasons for this to the score o medicines taken.

Statin drugs cause terrible side effects for some users, including mental confusion, memory loss and a general loss of mental focus. The cardiovascular benefits of statins are well established,but the effects of these agents on the human brain are not as well established. The more lipid-soluble the statin, the greater propensity it has to cross the blood-brain barrier and affect the central nervous system.

Many years ago, a warning was issued about this side effect. However, there is also some conflicting data. He has been on Lipitor since initial MI and had the dose increaed since last angiocather test 3 years ago. He is 67 and has increasing fatigue, weight loss and muscle tone decline. Avatar m tn i m on simvastatin 40mg 1 every evening. i have noticed memory loss, i keep forgetting little things like where i kept my shoes or medicines and choice of correct words while speaking, also when i m driving i lose direction sometimes to my home. i m also suffering from bi lateral TN, high bp and enlarged prostrate and multiple gall bladder polyps. i m on carbamezapine 200mg & neurontin 300mg twice a day of each.

If you aren't taking CoQ10, start immediately.

Avatar m tn in comparisson to short termmemory loss and how to overcome short term memory loss without using a pill but with FAITH IN INDEPENDANCE and organizing the electrical synapses that our brains use most frequently/ rely on the most frequently.... you might need to forget some of your most valuable memories to be able to regain your short term memory... Thats how computers work... when my computer starts running out of memory it gets a case of short term memory loss on a monthly basis!
