Avatar n tn He is 67 and has increasing fatigue, weight loss and muscle tone decline. He is able to work (farmer) but is increasinly fatigued. I want him to stop the Lipitor. Am I correct? This discussion is related to Liptor side effects.
Avatar n tn Come to find out Metformin and Lipitor side effects are diahrrea and due to that you will lose some weight. Both medication targets weight loss my Doctor says, no need to be alarmed. It's safe.
Avatar n tn I am 25 male and been on lipitor 20mg for almost 2 months. No side effects.
Avatar n tn Statin drugs are often associated with side effects including nausea, headaches, dizziness, sleep disturbances, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, shortness of breath, memory loss, liver problems, muscle weakness, muscle pain, peripheral neuropathy and cardiomyopathy due to a depletion of Coenzyme Q10. Thirteen liver failure cases and nine deaths were linked with Lipitor. In response, the FDA has recommended the addition of warnings to statin package inserts about the possibility of liver failure.
Avatar n tn Sorry as I understand it although coralcrazed is using a support system it is still natural weight loss as they are not using pills, injections, surgery etc....Lipitor is a cholesterol drug not a weight loss one. I would say that your calories are too low, your body lost to begin with but has adapted to your lo calories and has gone into starvation mode- I dont know your age or height or weight etc but 1500 cals is too low for a man regardless....
10996785 tn?1432812977 No one told me about lipitor side effects. I literally felt like my body was freezing up. When I Googled it, they referenced ALS like symptoms. This really blew my mind. (spill the wine). They say it may take a month or longer to feel a little bit better. The blood work being ok is a big thing all of a sudden. I have a low grade side effect. I'm weaning off trazodone now, next neurontin, then nortripyline. Maybe. Better days ahead. Maybe...
Avatar f tn Could you clarify the thermometer readings during these febrile episodes? Atorvastatin or Lipitor has been known to cause side effects such as unexplained muscle pain, weakness, fever, unusual tiredness, and loss of appetite. (ref: http://www.drugs.com/lipitor.html) While Atenolol can also cause fatigue, insomnia, nausea, memory loss, fever, numbness, tingling, cold extremities, and sore throat.( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/atenolol/article.
Avatar f tn I have always been monitored every 3_4 months with blood work and he put me on this lipitor 7/11 and I complained about the ide effects and he still increased it in 10/11 because he didn't see liver damage to 80mg from 40mg along with the 200mg of fenofibrate.
877371 tn?1240237527 the first two you listed are for weight loss and i dont think your supposed to really combine them
Avatar m tn I had a LDL drop from 170s to 50s and TG increase from 100 to 200 during the same time, accompanied by abdominal pain, bloating, mid-back pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, etc. I had fatty liver and liver cysts, which normally wouldn't cause many symptoms. But anytime a patient has significant cholesterol drop with various vague symptoms, a responsible physician should look into possible liver problems rather than assuming statin alone caused it.
Avatar f tn He insisted that I had arthritis Finally a friend suggested that I look up the side effects of lipitor on the net. It was all there and I had more than half of the symptoms on the list, severly. I have since taken my self off lipitor and have been off it now for ten weeks. I am much better but still not totally back to normal. This is potentially and dangerous drug. Beware of it and make sure that you have a good doctor. I have since changed mine.
Avatar n tn I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
1549189 tn?1293935668 I would research other methods of weight loss as opposed to going into drugs, where the side effects will eventually wear off anyway. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn m not sure if you had a question but we would love to hear if the Lipitor did the trick for you in terms of lowering your cholesterol. Did you have any side effects? Share your experience. https://www.medicalnewstoday.
Avatar n tn Check out the side-effects of Lipitor. That particular statin has a lot of side-effects, some very serious. There is a website (not sure of the web address but you can Google it) called Stopped Our Statins. There is a lot of good information on there. I would look at the side-effects of the Lipitor before panicking that it might be something else. There are many new statins out there that don't cause so many side-effects. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Hi, if the blockage in the artery has resolved, then the goal has been accomplished. The symptoms you experience could be side effects of the medications, but please check to see if these are due to vitamin deficiencies. Take a balanced diet rich in plenty of fruits and vegetables. Regards.
2035835 tn?1336300786 Mine did, and now I can only feel it a tiny bit if my feet are in the same position for a long time (i.e. computer chair rail). It definitely has a side effect of weight loss. In fact, some doctors prescribe it specifically for that reason. (In people who are overweight, and don't suffer from migraine.) I lost weight almost immediately.
1583640 tn?1296674030 m saying that in the case of statins, the effects have been proven to NOT be accumulative. Side effects almost always present in the first 90 days. I'm sure there are some situations where that is not the case.
Avatar n tn what is amaigrissante? how dose it help weight loss and what are its side effects?
Avatar n tn Hello, You are right in saying that statins may cause memory loss. Statin drugs cause terrible side effects for some users, including mental confusion, memory loss and a general loss of mental focus. The cardiovascular benefits of statins are well established, but the effects of these agents on the human brain are not as well established. The more lipid-soluble the statin, the greater propensity it has to cross the blood-brain barrier and affect the central nervous system.
Avatar f tn I myself am taking wellbutrin sr and have been experiencing the same side effects along with feeling like i am in a elevator not sure if these are normal side effects or not... but the plus side of it i have been losing weight with it..
Avatar n tn was on lipitor for 5 months and switched two weeks ago to simvastatin in hopes of less side effects. just got some blood work done and the liver enzymes are elevated about one and a half times normal. does anyone know if its normal to see a spike in liver enzymes after switching statins or does this mean my body is rejecting the new statin?
1515000 tn?1294933998 Hi gloriousgigi. Oh, this makes me so mad! This idea that if you loss weight all your problems will go away! I wish. I also have IIH,PTC.I was diagnosed two years ago, have a VP shunt, was never overweight, and still have all the problems associated with our illness. While I do believe that weight loss is a good thing for your general health, there is no evidence to support the claim of losing weight will "definitely" cure you.
