lipitor

678451 tn?1226425977 Lipitor has been shown in studies to reduce cholesterol and reduce cholesterol blockage that already exists. Lipitor is one of the best medications and a dosage of 10 mg is a low dose. Take Lipitor at bedtime. Daily would be better as your body has to adjust to the medication. Your doctor may move you up to 20 mg daily as your body adjusts.

10996785 tn?1432812977 Although it brought my total Cholesterol down from 265 to 160. Although my Cholesterol is high now for the last three years after giving up on Statins altogether after a brief encounter with Crestor.
Avatar m tn Treatment can definitely change your cholesterol. Whether it will be better is hard to say. For the last 10 years at least mine has been around 110 total chol. hdl is 48 , ldl is 53 and trig. are 43. Now after treatment it is 177 total chol. hdl is 48, ldl is 115, and trig. are 69.
Avatar n tn A solide nodule was discovered a year and half ago, and in connection therewith I also became diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. At that time I hade started taking Lipitor, 10 mg, for high cholesterol. My endoctrinologist, an expert on thyroids, decided against thyroid hormone replacement therapy. I am supposed to see him once a year, but I see a surgeon twice a year to check on the nodule.
Avatar f tn has me taking Lipitor for about that same amount of time for lowering cholesterol. Does Lipitor or any statin help prevent further carotid artery blockage?
Avatar n tn I was on lipitor was many years but no doctor ever checked my blood. Last year I went off of this med because when I was hospitalized for something else they discovered that my liver enzymes were high. I'm still off lipitor and my enzymes flutuate from high normal to high. I'm wondering if the lipitor did damage to my liver. Also, I have some neurological issues which includes my muscles. Am wondering if the lipitor caused this. My total cholesteral is 226 and my LDL is 79.
10996785 tn?1432812977 Now I know that lipitor has helped a lot of people, it brought my cholesterol down a bunch very quickly. Frankly, I would rather have high cholesterol. I did have a stroke at the end of November, small, deep in the cerebellum. Hence the lipitor....
Tbd The best I ever used was Simcor, which they stopped making. No pain or aches for me, associated with using that one. Great blood numbers as well. Lipitor did not go so well...body aches became the norm. I recently started on Simvastatin...so far so good...but I have been on it for only a month or two.
519736 tn?1253986826 He has no history of heart disease. the main reason for the lipitor was to raise his good cholesterol. I have no knowledge of these medications, but did look up side effects of statins. If it does happen to be a side effect, how long should he wait to see if this pain resolves itself after stopping the lipitor....any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn I had taken hypo tablets correctly and strict diet but cholesterol tablet I took only for 10days as heard abt side effects.after 1month tested again and now cholesterol is normal but my tsh levels have come down to 0.1 uIU/ml which is hyperlevels and doctor reduced dose to 100mg for 6 days a week and to continue lipitor. I would like to know 2things. Can I not take lipitor at all as cholesterol became normal and also does such high hypo become so low? Plz clear my tensions..
Avatar m tn A serious change of diet for those wanting to avoid Lipitor for the next 50 years (33 to 83) would be more along the lines of what former president Bill Clinton finally did to prevent further heart disease. Also, if you were willing to make such a change, it may take more than 25 days for the full effect. Much of that recent change you got was probably from the 40 mg dose of Lipitor. So I'm wondering what you mean by a "serious" change in diet?
Avatar m tn Does anyone know why the drug information for Lipitor says that it can cause problems for some people with hypothyroidism? I know that Lipotor can artiificially lower TSH and cause a false positive for hyperthyroidism.
599170 tn?1300973893 This is obviously complicated, so you might be best off seeing a holistic nutritionist. On the other hand, since I don't have the genetic ability to keep my mouth shut, here's some possibilities. First, if you're on Lipitor, you probably won't find an herbal program for you because most herbalists or naturopaths would be too afraid of lowering your cholesterol too much -- drugs are a whole lot stronger than natural remedies.
1352904 tn?1278356105 He is taking 80mg of Lipitor and has a very low cholesterol reading. He takes lots of other med too. I am desperate to change the course my life is taking. The bottom line is that I believe that the meds are not allowing my husband to think clearly or rationally. One dreadfully sad lady.
Avatar n tn I had no problems at all with that med. Then when the generic for Lipitor came out, she put me on that. I guess to save me money. I was having constant daily headaches. Neurologist treated it as Migraines. MRI was normal. Still having some migraines weekly now. But my neurologist says I'm fine and that I am clear to return to work. I told him what all else I was feeling in my head and he just blew it off.
Avatar m tn I am taking Lipitor 20MG for the last 6 years. Recently, my doctor advice me to stop taking Lipitor for 2 months and after that he will see my Cholestorel level result and will advice further medication. I am little scared if I stop taking Lipitor, does it will occur any heart attack or blockage in arteriy or any other risk for me.
Avatar f tn My husband has taken lipitor for 15 years without anything. I mean, literally zero and his cholesterol went right down to normal when he started it. I wouldn't regret starting it as you found out that it is not a right fit for you but that now you need to figure out how to address your cholesterol in other ways. Sometimes a different statin will work without causing the muscle fatigue.
Avatar f tn Have had 2 er visits with one ending in stress test for near syncope episode. My PC has now decided it is probably my lipitor I was on creator for two years with no issues. This lipitor is the devil. Praying that my body is healed soon. Have missed work the summer and time with my family. And health care physicians think your crazy all testing is negative except ct of abdomen did show inflammation. Hope your feeling well soon. !
Avatar n tn Hi, I have same problem with good diet I have total 265, and LDL 196 my doctor prescribe me Lovastatin reduce the risk of heart attack, blood vessel blockage or chest pain. When i took lipitor my cholesterol went up Also I take turmeric, garlic, avoid stress. May you explain what is stains affect liver? perhaps I have same problem doctor do not say me nothing about causes of h. cholesterol.
Avatar m tn The Lipitor is one of the best cholesterol medication and there are Lipitor studies that show that Lipitor reduces cholesterol and cholesterol buildup already in the arteries. You can "google" it under Lipitor studies to find out the information. There are other beta blockers and ace inhibitors if the ones you are on are making you feel not so well. It could just be that any beta blocker and ace inhibitor will make you feel this way.
