I wonder, is there no way to know if there is actual nerve damage? is it possible to evaluate damage with electromyography on a nerve less than 1 mm? How can I be sure there is a nerve injury? Anyone have experiences?
Steroid injections are generally used for exterior skin scars and not internal lip mucous membrane scars. There is a risk of fat atrophy with steroid injections. A consultation with a local plastic surgeon would determine if this might be appropriate.
t hurt well after a few hours before bed time I looked in the mirror and only saw dry lip, but I picked at that area again and it hurt so being a lip picker I ripped the dry skin off and noticed clear fluid came out, it didn't bleed. So cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and went to bed the next day it cracked and bled and scabed, then after the third day the scab fell off and my lips looks normal, also when I ripped the skin off I had no more pain in that area, it relieved the pain.
The discomfort is more in my eye tooth when I touch a certain area of my lip and my lip and the muscle in that area are still very tight and at times very painful. The TMJ specialist wants to put me on an anti-epileptic medication. I'm a bit resistant because there is substantial weight gain associated with these medications (which can be even more unhealthy than nerve damage).
Surgical removal of lump? Or/And 2. I was also wondering if injections to plump the unscarred lip around the lump would be possible to conceal the lump?
2. If I seek a surgeon to remove the lump, who would be most practiced at this sort of procedure?, and what would their medical occupation be? (i.e. Maxillofacial?), and what qualifications should they have?
Six months before, suddenly i got some sensation on my lips and in one minute my lip becomes like a cartoon (girls said sexy ,, just kidding) and then i drink some water bottles and make it normal. Three months after this incident this happened again ? and now it happened yesterday.
I read that this is allergy ? Can this incident be life threatning ? Please advice ?
I recently had crown prep done, 5 days ago. I had 1 shot and when asked if my lip was numb I said no and received a 2nd shot. I weigh 255lbs so I am not sure if that matters. But my jaw also hurts at that meeting point and is causing my hear to also hurt. From what I read Ibuprofen will help and if it goes beyond 1-2 weeks then talk to the dentist.

I was given multiple injections (at least 8) using at least 6 carpules of anesthetic. When the anesthetic wore off the pain was horrible in both sites. It is so bad I am taking 800 mg ibuprophen every 4 hours and it just barely kills some of the pain.
My dentist, who I have been going to for over 30 years gave me 3-4 injections of novacaine and although I got numb, I was not numb enough for him to do the crown and he didnt want to give me any more injections that day. I made another appt to go another time. Could my pain med have something to do with my lack of numbness? I am very concerned about not getting numb and also about the pain meds.
Treatment usually consists of topical capsaicin and botox injections(it may provide relief for some time). My sincere advice would be to get the diagnosis confirmed from a dermatologist first.

for about a week now i've had a small clear bump on the inside of my bottom lip. It's clear as can be and it looks a little dark in the middle. It does not hurt it's more just bothersome knowing it's there. I woke up this morning and it's bigger than before. Does anyone know what this could be? I am a 61 yr old female who recently developed deep lip and mouth lines over the last couple of years.
I am a non smoker but I do facial exercises which may cause me to purse my lips more. Is there anything
I can do to soften these lines or make them disappear. I am not consistant with my moisturizers so need to keep at that better than I have been. Any suggestions?
I developed Trigeminal Neuralgia 3 weeks after my first botox treatmemt (forehead, crowsfeet and frown lines) and 5 days after juvederm put into nasolabial folds, chin and lower cheek. Is it possible these treatments could have caused the TN? I have it on both sides and it is an aching pain. Started in one jaw then moved to all teeth, then a few weeks later into sinuses, and head bones, and now pain is in eye area and my entire face and head.
The other possibility is of mucoceles. It is usually inside the lower lip, under the tongue or the inside of mouth and caused mainly by biting the lips or trauma during eating of food.
Usually it goes away on its own. But if it does not, then corticosteroid injections and surgical removal by scalpel or laser are done by a dermatologist. It then has to be differentiated from other mucocutaneous lesions also.
