Avatar f tn If the patient ever passes out and can not be awakened, it might be a methadone overdose and patient needs the antidote. (I always wished I had a life alert alarm that would alert me if someone stopped breathing so I could quickly react and save them.) There are new ways of treating certain types of chronic pain, especially if patient has physically recovered but still feels pain. See book chapter 1 of Norman Doidge, M.D.

603838 tn?1238534975 Hi all. One of my best friends has been taking heavy painkillers to manage pain due to disk surgery and partial replacement. They have been switching between things as heavy as morphine and methadone. They found her thanksgiving day not breathing with foam coming out of her mouth and nose. She was in respiratory arrest and flown to a better hospital in the neighboring state.
Avatar n tn Given your history that you were given injection Vitrase, it is possible that you were given an overdose. But overdose of Juvederm causes lumps which can be easily removed by hyaluronidase. Vitrase is hyaluronidase and it was given to avoid any lump formation. Overdosage of Juvederm will not cause redness, swelling and headaches. It is more likely to be due to an allergic reaction.

383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar f tn You could try pre-medicating with ventolin or a similar drug to see if that helps you enough to be able to tolerate the environment. There is unforunately no antidote or anything that will make you less senstive to the smell. Medicating before entering or switching churches would be your options. Stains constantly give off a bit of smell just because of the material they are made of, you probably are just more sensitive to it than others.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
