383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn I was inpatient at JH back in February and had a specific IV Infusion that supposedly is only performed there. BUT I FORGET THE NAME OF IT!!! its is a terribly long medical (the ones we dont even try to pronounce) name but shortened with initials. . . . . I am currently in patient at Methodist - Jefferson Headache Unit for the pain I am having and my body has rejected the DHE! I got violently sick last night . . . . it was horrible.
1425608 tn?1320894142 He said I probably have IC and pedundal neuropathy, and before I knew what was going on, the doc jammed a straight catheter into my urethra and injected a mixture of heparin and lidocaine into my bladder. He said it would help ease/numb the pain and wants me to come back once a week for 6 weeks to have this done.
Avatar f tn Hi, whew, that's rough. I'm sorry! So, first. Lidocaine patches. What about lidocaine cream? It's cheap, REALLY cheap. I've gotten it on Amazon for under 6 dollars a tube. You can spend more as well and it is going to last you and go a lot further than 2 patches. And I use it and it is helpful. You could look for alternatives. They also make a spray, also inexpensive. Ketamine infusions I've heard are pretty amazing.
1088527 tn?1425313375 So anyone who has a port does it get better I got a script for lidocaine which I will use on thursday for my infusion but I am 2nd guessing my decision for the port. Thanks Kat P.S. I would have posted this last week but Nemo got in my way and power was out.
Avatar m tn Also I am prescribed lidocaine patches. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic. I apply the patches to the affected area, they can be left on for up to 12 hours then you have 12 hours off. They work pretty well too particularly when it come to wearing shoes. That all that has been suggested to try by my pain Dr. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn i had c5 c6 infusion in april 2011 and still hurt very badly cant type on computer long with out pain i dont know what to do i am so depressed the dr.
Avatar f tn Lidocaine is one type of medication, called a sodium channel blocker, that can be used to relieve pain. A lidocaine infusion quickly determines if sodium channel blockers will be the right choice for your daughter. It sounds like they are looking for the best way to treat her pain. Nortriptyline as I'm sure you know is a tricyclic antidepressant which is often used to treat pain. I have heard this can be effective. Others will post that will offer other opinions and suggestions.
Avatar m tn An 85% ejection fraction is on the high side. If symptoms were reproduced with the CCK infusion during the HIDA scan I would be thinking gallbladder surgery. However, if the infusion was a slow one (over 30-60 min) and did not cause any of your typical symptoms, I would be reluctant to recommend cholecystectomy.
925522 tn?1243968666 I have phenitone infusion every 5 weeks how does this work i feel ill for a couple of ays after is this normal
Avatar n tn It is a temporary fix when instant relief is needed. But perhaps a lidocaine infusion with some take home prescription migraine medication will work wonders for you. I know how important school is and I hope that you and your doctor can work together to find something that works. Please keep us posted on how you are doing and I hope you feel better soon and can get back to enjoying reading time. Take care.

Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
1837237 tn?1318379968 There are procedures that can help. I was given a lidocaine infusion for nerve pain along with the fibromyalgia. It helped tremendously while I was being infused. Unfortunately, I only got relief for about a week or so. But it's worth looking into. You may also want to check out the pain management forum here for some other suggestions on how to manage your pain.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
306455 tn?1288862071 lotsatrout...good idea...you ought to get a patent....lidocaine suit...i like that!!! ...My educated guess says it is not addictive!!!...and we know where my educated guesses have gotten me before!!!
Avatar n tn s Field Trainers testing the new infusion sets were telling Medtronic that the new infusion sets were of a defective design. The infusion sets would jam inside Insertion Devices, inducer needles would get stuck inside the cannulas, the infusion set adhesives would dry up and allow the Quick-Set Plus to come off the patient, and the infusion sets themselves would interrupt the delivery of insulin.
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
Avatar f tn Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
