Lidocaine in surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine in surgery

lidoderm

Avatar m tn The ophthalmologist said via a nurse, that he has given many people with caine allergies this drug without reactions as Lidocaine in the eye reacts differently than in other parts of the body. I need another opinion on that. Actual consultation with any ophthalmologist at this clinic is difficult. I have no idea what type of surgery they will perform regarding removal of the old lens, what type of new lens they will insert adaptive or fixed.
Avatar n tn I am interested in the lidocaine treatment. What specialist does the lidocaine nerve block for sphenopalatine neuralgia, that is, if that is what I have.
1571533 tn?1322943509 Hey. I went to my PCP yesterday and he gave me a LIDODERM, a lidocaine patch, to try and help with the pain in my neck -he thinks if that calms down so will the migraines.. theyve been everyday constantly for well over a month and a half, and no meds help.. nor do therapeutic methods i have here at home.. Has anyone here used it before? And did it help? I tried to use it last night but it wouldnt stick to my neck.

Avatar f tn My daughter now 17.5 has been in severe pain for 4 years (as of 8/18). One day we were playing tennis, next day could not get out of bed and since has not been able to walk at all. They cannot see what's wrong on MRI, long story there, but now in MA the docs are going to give her lidocaine infusions and started her on nortriptyline 10 mg with increasing doses.
Avatar n tn m feeling better and getting less P.V.C.s in my heart. But I need the surgery now since I became very ill from the tooth in May of this year and have been on antibiotics on and off since then( Clindamycin )..I had to discontinue today because of side effects and I have no idea if this was a wise choice or not before having the extraction.
Avatar f tn Ask for a 3T MRI and try physical therapy with another person before you agree to surgery. Try a transdermal lidocaine patch (no more than 12 hours a day) and what is called a TENS device. If these two options have not been discussed by your pain management consultant, find another pain manager.
Avatar n tn Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
Avatar f tn I am considering a vestibulectomy to relieve some of the pelvic pain. I was told of this surgery at Mayo Clinic. Hang in there and hope you find relief!!
Avatar f tn I had a pacemaker put in November 2010. It was the most horrifying experience I have ever gone through as the lidocaine had absolutely no effect and versed does not work on me so I had full feeling of surgery from the initial incision to the creation of the pocket into my muscle and placement of the pacemaker. My heart rate and blood pressure had been dropping to critical levels. A BP of 60/40 at night and a heart rate in the low to mid thirties was commonplace.
1425608 tn?1320894142 ve been dealing with nutcracker syndrome, pelvic congestion syndrome, and chronic pelvic pain for 1 1/2 years now. Recently, I was referred to a urogynecologist in Park Ridge, IL. He said I probably have IC and pedundal neuropathy, and before I knew what was going on, the doc jammed a straight catheter into my urethra and injected a mixture of heparin and lidocaine into my bladder. He said it would help ease/numb the pain and wants me to come back once a week for 6 weeks to have this done.
Avatar f tn Been going RUSH pain center in Chicago for almost three years (also went back to Mayo, where I had surgery), have tried injections, freezing certain nerves, many meds, even a surgical trial period for implantable electrodes (i.e. a neurostimulator), but no rip roaring success for this pressure pain/tightness. Also tried many alternative treatments, such as acupuncture, etc, but was not helpful. Does anyone recommend any pain centers I could try, which could actually help??
Avatar n tn Have you or anyone else on here (since this was back in 2008 and it is now 2012... had any success in dealing with this. Havn't seen any responses since the original inquiries) I went to an allergist and they did small injections into the upper arm and I immediately had the flushing, rapid heart beat, high blood pressure, shaking ect... and this lasts for several hours and then I feel worn out for days.
Avatar f tn Hi, One time, I had the same story with ER when they gave you a shot and sent you home three times. And you continue hopelessly to rock and roll on the floor from the pain. Your case with the seeds is particular, but what I learned during the last months is don't push! Learn about a good diet to have a poof very quickly. If you have internal hemorrhoids, they are treated easily. It is not an actual surgery, and you go home in 15 minutes. You can see it on the Internet. How long?
Avatar f tn For nearly two years I have had experienced severe to chronic pain in my right eye. Over the past two years, I have seen 4 doctors, including opthamologists, optometrists, and I am currently seeing a neuro-ophthalmologist. I have had a multitude of tests including 2 MRI's. Recently I have been experiencing floaters when I have the pain. The pain is becoming more frequent and more severe. At times I also experience a sharp line of pain straight through my brain.
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
Avatar m tn only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches. advice as to where to put the needle (i got from cvs insulin 31g-8mm),what to expect ie: will it burn- how long b4 its numb, and if i split the nail will it grow back? any advice will help..
Avatar n tn s got to be difficult. You are associated it with the FUT surgery just because of the timing? FUT surgery can interfere with nerves but it typically is in the way of tingling, pricking and itching. I don't think there is actually any literature connecting FUT to these types of symptoms you are having. What doctors have you seen? Vertigo is often helped by seeing an Ear Nose and Throat doctor. Eustachian tube dysfunction is often the culprit in sudden vertigo and vision issues.
Avatar n tn This is the second time in two years this happens. The first time it was lidocaine with epinephrine; this time it was carbocaine without epinephrine. I think the reaction resulted in slight chest tightness even. As I told the doctor, he stopped the surgery (he had not started it yet) and sent me to my primary doctor to get cardiac clearance. I am 29 and have never had any heart problems.
Avatar n tn Lidocaine used as an anesthetic often has a small amount of epinephrine in the solution. The amount is so small that I have never heard of it causing tachycardia, although this is theoretically possible. Lidocaine and epinephrine is used in the suturing of millions of wounds every year with no cardiac events. My guess is that that is a coincidence here. The temporary fast heart rate in the absence of chest pain, pressure or other symptoms should have no long-lasting effects whatsoever.
925522 tn?1243968666 Anterior lumbar fusion surgery is where the dr goes in thru ur abdomen instead of ur back to fuse ur spine.
Avatar f tn That nerve is right beside the TN and is one at risk during surgery, so that makes sense in a way. I have atypical TN and was also told that I am not a candidate for the surgery. After finally being seen by a top neurosurgeon at a top teaching hospital, I was very hopeful to put an end to this all with MVD or second choice gamma knife, but because mine is probably caused by shingles and did not appear suddenly (ideopathic TN) then my success rate drops and risk rate increases.
1264863 tn?1391118193 , use the combination of equal parts liquid benadryl and maalox (or mylanta) gargle and swish for 60 seconds then spit.. The lidocaine helps greatly (numbing) but in a pinch the other two are soothing and you will find some relief.
Avatar m tn In 2016 the pain came back. They found another deep tumor in the same area and she had surgery again. However this time she had excruciating pain upon waking from surgery and has really not gotten any better. At first they blamed a rather large seroma she developed post op, but the pain only very mildly relieved once it resolved. That the best relief she had was after the doctor had drained the seroma some and then injected lidocaine directly into the cavity.
