Avatar f tn Honestly I don't remember feeling him put the epidural in at all, I was in the middle of a contraction and had really bad back labor so when he was done I think I told him I loved him!
Avatar f tn A nurse will usually have you hold onto her in the process. In all honesty, if you're in a ton of pain the epidural is a cake walk and a god send. It's quick and fairly painless. I've had two, but I plain on an all natural birth this time around, including not being induced!
Avatar f tn My back kills me every day. It hurts to stand for more than 20 minutes. I am on my 3rd round of epidural injections in my lumbar spine and I'm sick of injections and pain meds. I have my sister crack my back every so often and it helps a million (even through I know she's not 'official'). What does a chiropractor do to help the problems with my back? How do I find a good doctor? Is it possible to get 'longer-lasting' relief from chiropractic work?
Avatar f tn Everyday is a bad day but today is a really bad. Called in sick at work and trying to deal with this. With lidocaine injection some general practice doctors do it. Ur pain doctor usually does this unfortunately mine won't because he said I don't need it. I have done botox on my neck and that gave some relief but very expensive. I had 50 cc. I was lucky my friend is a doctor and did it for me for free, normally it would be $500. Now she moved back east.
405614 tn?1329144114 I usually started feeling relief from the shots within a few days but love the lidocaine shots, its sometimes nice to be numb but always hate it when it wears off. Hang in there Sweetie, ok? And Happy Early Birthday!!!!!
Avatar f tn Idk about anyone else but I didn't feel them put my epidural in because I was in soooooo much pain from contractions. The epidural is one of the best inventions ever lol just saying. Good luck with whatever you decide though!
Avatar f tn I have a damaged disk in my lower back. The doctor suggested I get shots directly in the disk as treatment for pain. My question is, how painful are these shots?
Avatar f tn 2. At L5-S2, in addition to the degenerative lateral recess and neuroforaminal narrowing, there is a broad based cenral to left paramdian disc herniation which is leading to effacement upon the ventral thecal sac and exiting L5 nerve roots, left greater than right. Can you please explain this in lay mans terms, they sent me for the MRI because they thought I had a pinched femoral nerve on my left lower back side?
Avatar n tn If you don't have an epidural, you're less likely to tear in the first place... so that's something to consider as well. I had a med-free birth of a 9lb baby, I'm 5'2" and was 125lbs with a small frame before getting pregnant, and didn't need a single stitch. It also helps if you aren't laying on your back to push - there are several better options for optimal positioning. If you do need stitches, the magic word is "lidocaine".
Avatar m tn I have been having disc problems for about 17 yrs now. First, it was buldging discs for which rounds of steroids worked. Then, following an MRI, I had a lumbar epidural. The dr. who did it said my muscles were so tied in knots he had to pull out and get a bigger needle. Thank goodness I was put to sleep. This epidural lasted for 3 years for me. I think I was blessed. I also believe that it depends on if the dr. hits the exactly right spot. I only had the one epidural.
Avatar m tn t get all knotted up with tightness like I did before the epidural. Now instead of muscle soreness I get a very sharp instantaneous pain in my spine that feels like something is being pinched. It almost makes me fall over like I have lost connectivity between the upper part of my body and the lower half and then it is gone. When it happens my upper body goes backwards and my lower half tries to move forward.
Avatar f tn I hate needles and the only thing you feel pressure with is the lidocaine they use before! Then for my epidural at least it was in an IV drip that they didn't take out until after my son was born(: there is negatives and positives for the effects of the epidural but it can also be a traumatic experience if you can't handle your contractions! If you have a high pain tolerance than natural may be more easier for you!
Avatar f tn I was given stadol around midnight and an epidural at 4 am. She had to redo the epidural after she hit a vein which was pretty awful. I remained 3 cm until 10 am the next morning. At noon I dilated to a 4-5 cm. At 2 pm I was at 7 cm and it took me until 4 pm to get to 10 cm. I started pushing at 5 pm and beautiful baby girl was born 51 minutes later weighing 8 lbs 7 oz and 21 inches long.
Avatar f tn Besides an epidural, what else can they give you for pain? My first birth the epidural did not work at all so I'm not going to bother getting it again. Any help is appreciated!
Avatar f tn But the recovery is very uncomfortable for over a week every time you pee.
5787844 tn?1376078984 So I'm looking for opinions/stories from experienced mamas.. I'm 30 weeks pregnant with #3. I had visions of a drug free birth with my first...I labored for 31 1/2 hrs...drug free. Pushed for 4 hours! Ended up needing cesarean. I was heartbroken. I felt like I had gotten no rest and had tired myself out...literally falling asleep between contractions! So with my 2nd I was so determined for V.B.A.C that I had something that wasn't an epidural but it did go in my back.
1484441 tn?1288123103 So, my second son was born on October 3rd. He wasn't due until the 14th but came early, just like my first. I recently turned 34 and have an 11 yr. old son. I remarried a few years ago and in January we decided not to use any protection because I didn't think I'd get pregnant so easily. Although, apparently I'm very fertile because it happened just as easily the first time, too. I was in labor with my oldest for only about 5 hours.
Avatar f tn I was a few hours into labor an in horrible pain and got my epidural, and once it kicked in, it took so much pain away I felt perfect. Besides the contractions every couple minutes. But that was just slight stomach pain with my epidural. I couldn't imagine having all the pain that I had before the epidural, for my 18 hours of labor.
Avatar f tn I had three stitches with my daughter but i also had an epidural. I felt some of it but was more interested in what they were doing with her to notice. But, both of my kids were exremely alert with the epidural. My nurse with my son told me they actually recommend them because it makes you more relaxed as well as the baby.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for a thoracic facet block for next Friday. Are steriods used for this procedure? And if they are, can they substitute the steriod with a non- steriod medication? I had an epidural Sept. 2007 and I gained weight and It didn't work, I am not even sure I will go through with procedure now.
10947 tn?1281404252 This all happened 4 days after giving birth via csection in which I received an epidural anesthesia. I was given lidocaine for the epi and my body still wasn't numb so they kept injecting more! *also I've been having tingling in my lips a metalic taste in my mouth and severe dizziness. I was seen in 2different ers and they both said its not cardiac related even though my h.r was 45bpm .. Is it possible that the epidural is causing autonomic dysfunction?
562597 tn?1254398741 The lidocaine injections felt like a little poke and the steroid was a slight burn and it made my arms feel a bit warm. But I also have had epidural injections in my SI joints so I can honestly say after that experience that the cervical injections was a walk in the park! I'm not sure about the limitations, I think this is best asked of your neurologist. I was wondering the same thing and I may have to give mine a call since I don't have an appt to see him until August.
11970398 tn?1443134602 t get wrong here! I had the epidural and it fell out a couple hours in, and I had to get it repositioned. I experienced really uncomfortable side effects for 6 months after like back aches and constant Charlie horses in my legs. That being said, I am getting the epidural again this go round. It was worth every single bit of pain I faced afterwards. Contractions made me crazy.
4294412 tn?1353197830 t a narcotic if so please tell me I am sick of narcotics I really am tired of pills all together I just started the shots in my spine but I know they too will wear off what can I do besides surgery

Avatar f tn For nearly two years I have had experienced severe to chronic pain in my right eye. Over the past two years, I have seen 4 doctors, including opthamologists, optometrists, and I am currently seeing a neuro-ophthalmologist. I have had a multitude of tests including 2 MRI's. Recently I have been experiencing floaters when I have the pain. The pain is becoming more frequent and more severe. At times I also experience a sharp line of pain straight through my brain.
