Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine for pvcs

Avatar m tn What would you considered a reasonable field treatment for trigeminal PVCs with borderline sinus bradycardia (64 - 56 bpm, systolic BP mid-70s, patient is pale, diaphoretic, and experiencing epigastric discomfort. I am a paramedic and with the constant changes in AHA recommendations, this area is very unclear. Currently our protocols do not mention symptomatic/unstable patients experiencing bigeminal or trigeminal PVCs.
383138 tn?1314167773 They wont inject lidocaine into a vein for pain... If they did any dose they give would be negligable for your heart.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn This is a question for your doctor or a pharmacist.
Avatar f tn Can aspercreme with lidocaine be used on a burn caused by a flame if its not blistered
Avatar m tn I am terrified of needles too and I FELT NOTHING.. They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain. Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
Avatar n tn Not sure how many doctors would do an EPS for PVCs. I had thousands/day for a long time which led to pvc-induced cardiomyopathy. That's when my doctor ordered an EPS...
Avatar f tn d go to a cardiologist to at least get an echo done, if for nothing else than for peace of mind and to get a documented baseline that can be referenced for any future changes....
Avatar n tn I have been having PVCs for 3 years and have been taking 100-200 mgm Amediorone. It appears the medicine has become less effective and side effects are becoming intolerable. A recent 24 holter test showed several thousand bigeminies and trigeminies. Please comment on significance of these beats. I am concerned because a previous test few months back showed only scattered PVCs. Would ablation, pacemaker or another drug be a better option for a 77 year old man?
Avatar m tn You also described you were started on beta blockers, that may decreased the PVCs symptoms. Finally, if your PVCs and symptoms persist despite the beta blockers you may be a candidate for an invasive procedure to try to "burn" this extra pacemaker (ablation). Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
1571533 tn?1322943509 Hi Sandy! My doctor also prescribed me the Lidocaine patch for my hip and lower back. (didn't have neck or upper back pain at that time) They only worked for about a day and they also wouldn't stick to my body but I just found out last week that I tore a ligament in my hip so that my be why they didn't work. I hope your dr.can find the right med that helps with your pain!
Avatar f tn I've been having PVC's, severe at times, off and on for almost 50 yrs and never had a stroke nor has a cardiologist ever told me that PVC's can cause a stroke. I've always been told, after all the tests "they are benign, ignore them". I finally learned to ignore them, and not worry about them anymore. Not to say that I look forward having them. Anything coming from the heart is not easy to "just ignore". Trust what your doctor/cardiologist tells you.
335873 tn?1264913469 I have PACs and PVCs and am on Toprol and Digoxin (I'm also prone to Afib). For the last few days my heart has been on a roller coaster. The freaky beats start up slow, build to a crescendo lasting 2-5 minutes, then taper off with 20-30 minutes of normal rythym then starts back up again. I make them go away when I go for a brisk walk or go to the gym and get on the elliptical, getting my HR up to the 120 range. As long as I'm moving around the PACs and PVCs go away.
Avatar m tn About 50% of young men have PVCs on a daily basis. The statistical norm for your age bracket is under 50 PVCs a day. Less than one percent of total population can feel their PVCs. Chances are that there's nothing wrong with your cardiovascular system. You just are extremely sensitive to your heart.
Avatar n tn Not to my knowledge, there is nothing that can cause a positive cocaine result.
1703392 tn?1307450500 Hello, I just had an ablation due to pvcs, although because my situation is very unique it did stop the pvcs. I think for most people it works, my "problem area"is tough to get to so they would need to go around the outside of the heart and in a speciic area (which only a couple of Dr's can do) As I mentioned, I think it works for most, depending on if they can get to the area.
5851092 tn?1404133464 Ah yes, the AliveCor app. I understand the app is free, but a device is needed to interface with your phone. How much is the device, and once it's working, what are the charges for submitting the data (I trust it's analyzed by computer). What is the procedure for capturing a rhythm? Are your PVCs aggravated by adrenaline? When the assistant was trying to capture a variety of my PVCs, I was able to facilitate the frequency of PVCs just by thinking scary things.
Avatar f tn my ablations was for VT also. Wow 6hrs. mine only lasted 2-3 hrs. I hope yours was a success!!! Im thinking i will just have my local EP do the ablation again...( i hope im making the right decision)... How well do you deal with your pvcs? mine make me ill!!! My ablation is for Pvcs... they have not caught any runs at all, thank god....
433892 tn?1208431743 To date there is no studied treatment that will change this risk factor and it is unknown if it is the PVCs that increase risk or if the PVCs are simply a marker for increased risk. There are many correctable risk factors like diet, smoking, exercise, etc that people can change. I would focus on correctable risk factors. You didn't mention above if the PVCs were in recover phase of exercise. I hope this helps. Thanks for posting.
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
Avatar m tn my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches. advice as to where to put the needle (i got from cvs insulin 31g-8mm),what to expect ie: will it burn- how long b4 its numb, and if i split the nail will it grow back? any advice will help..
Avatar m tn Lymes is notorious for PVCs. The only way to stop PVCs would be to get rid of the cell structures that are causing them. That's inherently very difficult to do. First off how do you get rid of them? They currently burn them away and in the process burn healthy tissue I'm sure. That's the first problem with trying to get rid of benign PVCs. In the process of trying to kill off defective muscle you may damage more muscle.
433892 tn?1208431743 Like Jerzeegal, I have opted not to take the beta-blockers for PVCs. I get over 20,000pvcs per day, but I have tried Toperal, Inderal, and the last one was Atenolol. Both the Toperal and Atenolol (one half a 25mg tablet), put me on my butt. They made me feel like I was walking under water with one of those old fashioned dive suits, you know with the big helmut. lol. None of the beta-blockers have touched the frequency of the pvcs, but I had the fewest side-effects with the inderal.
