Lidocaine for dysrhythmias

Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine for dysrhythmias

lidoderm

Avatar n tn It was scheduled for Monday. Unfortunately, she coded before they got. An ICD is a much better alternative because if it doesn't get used, it is not a problem. If it gets used ONCE, it has saved your life. An ejection fraction of <35% is a reason to get one because of the increased rick of ventricular dysrhythmias or especially if there is a history of those dysrhythmias.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn This is a question for your doctor or a pharmacist.
Avatar f tn Can aspercreme with lidocaine be used on a burn caused by a flame if its not blistered
Avatar m tn I am terrified of needles too and I FELT NOTHING.. They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain. Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
1308034 tn?1337644984 Your doctor meant your heart's natural pacemaker :P = SA sinoatrial node or sinus node PVC = premature ventricular contractions google either and you'll get tons of info on them; 145 pvc's in a 24/hr period is ok in a structurally ok heart, unless you have other problems?
Avatar n tn I am writing on behalf of my 68 yo mother, who has a hx of PACs/PVCs for years controlled with medication (B-blockers). Approx. 4 mos ago, she began having more frequent palps (from a few/wk to several/hr to to several/min.) She has worn a 30d Holter which confirmed PVCs. She is very active--walks 1 hr/day, good diet, good wt--very healthy. She denies chest pain or SOB, but states that she feels some mild, localized pressure during the dysrhythmias occasionally. Her PMH is insignif.
Avatar n tn As for know the area of infarct (dead tissue, scar tissue) can be a site for dysrhythmias. Hope this helped.
Avatar n tn Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
1571533 tn?1322943509 Hi Sandy! My doctor also prescribed me the Lidocaine patch for my hip and lower back. (didn't have neck or upper back pain at that time) They only worked for about a day and they also wouldn't stick to my body but I just found out last week that I tore a ligament in my hip so that my be why they didn't work. I hope your dr.can find the right med that helps with your pain!
Avatar n tn Not to my knowledge, there is nothing that can cause a positive cocaine result.
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.

383138 tn?1314167773 They wont inject lidocaine into a vein for pain... If they did any dose they give would be negligable for your heart.
Avatar n tn However recently I developed A Fib after several years suffering from paplitations. I was initially given amiodrone for the AF for approximately 4 weeks (both intervenously and the 50mg tabs twice daily. Following these meds were changed to MInax which worked reasonably well for a few weeks. Then 3 weeks ago I went back into AF and the hospital did a blood test for the thyroid, although throughout all this process my GP had tested and stated my thyroid was fine.
Avatar m tn Getting lidocaine for wisdom tooth extraction--felt the needle going in and woke up 45 minutes later in ER. I had had a seizure! Hundreds of shots for teeth over the years, never any such experience. Surgeon swore he found no blood in syringe and couldn't understand why I seized. Swore he did everything right, never heard of lidocaine causing a seizure this way. Apologized profusely. I'm now worried about completing the extraction, which has to be done.
306455 tn?1288862071 I used them for a couple of years for my knee and back and they worked great. But I never thought about the possiblity of addiction and can't find any info if they are.
Avatar m tn Hi, six months after my left-side thoracotomy I was yesterday told by my surgeon (USA) that I need to get Lidocaine intercostal nerve-block injections for a persistent pain issue I'm having. Here in my country, Cyprus, though, it's impossible to find someone who has experience in injecting Lidocaine on the thorax. So, my second option is UK, but still I would need to find someone specialized on this type of nerve-block. Any recommendations?
Avatar f tn My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.
1264863 tn?1391118193 hi there, go call you physician or dentist and ask for a prescription of benadryl, maalox, and lidocaine. It is commonly known as the "magic mouthwash" and I used to prescribe it all the time for patients going through chemo or had systemic diseases that created chronic apthous ulcers (aka canker sores.) If for some reason you can't get to the dr., use the combination of equal parts liquid benadryl and maalox (or mylanta) gargle and swish for 60 seconds then spit..
Avatar m tn It's not likely. It could be one of the other "caines": Marcaine,Lidocaine, etc...anesthetics like Novacaine that you get at the dentist. Pharmeceutical grade cocaine is used medically but more for nose, throat surgeries.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Lidocaine blocks conduction of nerve impulses by decreasing neuronal membrane's permeability of sodium ions, which results in inhibition of depolarization and blockade of conduction. Intranasal administration of lidocaine drops requires specific and, for many patients, difficult technique. The dose is 4%solution intranasally.
6818786 tn?1385132293 Thanks for the response. My GP referred me for a 24 hour EKG which I just had. I get the results of that on Tuesday. I spent the first 22 years of my life in New Zealand, but I recently moved to London for work. not that I've been working much in the last month.
