Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine for bronchospasm

Avatar f tn Some of mine are true allergic reactions but others my neurologist attributes to cholenerigc response. Regardless of the cause a Bronchospasm is pretty scary. I always have to be premedicated with steroids IV and IV Benadryl before receiving most IV meds. My nursing background has sure come in handy; however never wanted to have to use it on myself.
Avatar m tn ve read that it can induce bronchospasm, which is a reflex that prevents water going into the lungs but it also blocks the airway. The bronchospasm normally should relax on its own, but I've read that sometimes it may last long enough to cause death. Is that true? As soon as one starts to faint, shouldn't the bronchospasm relax? I'm asking because a few days ago I was drinking coffee in a cafe, I took a sip of it and it went down the wrong pipe.
352007 tn?1372857881 He said that you need lesions for a diagnosis for MS. That they have to match up symptoms with the lesions. Because I told him that for some medical facilities, they have diagnosed MS without lesions with CIS events and he said he didnt know where I got my information from but that's not true. He's probably right? I don't know. All I do know is that "this fight to try and get some medical professional to commit to a diagnosis (of any kind at this point), is fruitless.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn This is a question for your doctor or a pharmacist.
3113201 tn?1341780938 t because I can barely breathe while exercising! Is it possible for me to take a supplement for energy or possibly use an over-the-counter steroid inhaler (if those exist), or anything else to get rid this breathing problem?
Avatar m tn I went to the doctors, I had bronchitis for roughly a month (I procrastinated with hoping it would resolve itself). He gave me antiobitocs, mucinex, allergy meds (As a precaution, he thought it may have been caused by this but I doubt it, never had an allergy in my life), cough syrup and an inhaler. Now this inhaler is a Qvar,40 mcg of beclomethasone. It says take it twice a day. This was prescribed for what I assume to be my shortness of breathe that I was having very very often.
Avatar n tn Feel free to Google both of them and look for treatments that will work for you. Be thankful that this is very easy to treat and and has quick results! I hope this helps!

Avatar m tn I am terrified of needles too and I FELT NOTHING.. They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain. Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.

Avatar n tn Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
1571533 tn?1322943509 Hi Sandy! My doctor also prescribed me the Lidocaine patch for my hip and lower back. (didn't have neck or upper back pain at that time) They only worked for about a day and they also wouldn't stick to my body but I just found out last week that I tore a ligament in my hip so that my be why they didn't work. I hope your dr.can find the right med that helps with your pain!

Avatar m tn Hi. To make this short, I've been sickly for a few months now. I have recently added wheezing in my chest when I breathe to my symptoms. It doesn't happen all the time just several times thru out the day. My doctor sad my lungs sound clear a he did a chest X-ray which he said looked okay also. My question is- the wheezing is very obviously there though... Something has to be causing it. But with a clear X-ray I'm confused. Could it be allergies or do you Gus hve any other ideas??
Avatar m tn Getting lidocaine for wisdom tooth extraction--felt the needle going in and woke up 45 minutes later in ER. I had had a seizure! Hundreds of shots for teeth over the years, never any such experience. Surgeon swore he found no blood in syringe and couldn't understand why I seized. Swore he did everything right, never heard of lidocaine causing a seizure this way. Apologized profusely. I'm now worried about completing the extraction, which has to be done.

Avatar m tn Hi, six months after my left-side thoracotomy I was yesterday told by my surgeon (USA) that I need to get Lidocaine intercostal nerve-block injections for a persistent pain issue I'm having. Here in my country, Cyprus, though, it's impossible to find someone who has experience in injecting Lidocaine on the thorax. So, my second option is UK, but still I would need to find someone specialized on this type of nerve-block. Any recommendations?
Avatar n tn What you describe suggests that you may have acquired a viral pharyngitis, and this is often characterized by persistent cough, lasting for a few months or more. Pharyngitis does not cause tightness of the chest but you may have developed some bronchospasm, in response to viral bronchitis. This could be aggravated, but not caused by cold weather. If you were intubated during the sinus operation, you may have had irritation from the tube, rather than infection, as a cause of the pharyngitis.
