All local anesthetic used in dentistry today are amides rather than esters. With the old ester-type locals (no longer used), cross-allergenicity did occur, so if you were allergic to one ester-type local anaesthetic, all the others were contraindicated. The good thing about the amides used nowadays is that cross-allergenicity does not occur. In other words, allergy to one amide local doesn't mean that you're allergic to other amide locals.

Ester-C is just a trade name. The word ester means certain fat soluble compounds, but Ester-C isn't fat soluble, it's just C bound with either calcium or other minerals to make what's called ascorbate, or ascorbic acid (vitamin C) bound with (or chelated) minerals to buffer the C.

I didnt have any other pain relief except this lidocaine injection so my reaction was certainly from that. It caused me to have a near seizure or a seizure. My legs started majorly jerking, I started twitching all over. I was left so bad that I couldnt walk after the procedure due to all developing neurological issues. It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.

Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
