Avatar m tn I am terrified of needles too and I FELT NOTHING.. They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain. Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your information. I appreciate it. The 2 medications listed on the report are Buffered Lidocaine 1% and Buffered Lidocaine 1% with Epinephrine 1:100,000, Dose 20cc. Yes, this is the first time I have experienced this occurrence. I have a surgical biopsy soon because of more calcification in the same breast 1 year later; what do you suggest I tell the anaestesiologist?
Avatar n tn A common first line treatment plan is the diet and behavioral modifications listed on the website, plus a low dose of amitriptyline 10mg X 7 days then 25mg and increase slowly to tolerance. For patients in an IC flare there is a bladder instillation of buffered lidocaine, a local anesthetic, than can help relieve symptoms immediately. Its injected into the bladder thru a catheter in the doctor's office by a nurse. There are a number of treatment options for you.
Avatar n tn I have a patient who instills buffered lidocaine into her bladder at home when leaving the house and gets a few hour of relief, enough to do her exercise and out of the house activities pain free. I give 5 daily treatments in the clinic initially and see what the response is. If the patient gets relies we teach you to do it at home and give her prescriptions for the supplies. If nothing elso works, this is an option.
Avatar m tn Buffered Light Enjoyable Scratching Stops Itching Now Gently Safely. Several years ago I got tagged by what I think was a brown recluse spider, judging from the protracted, necrotic reaction. Late in the healing process, the intense itching was waking my up at night. I did not want to irritate or infect the skin, and I am not disposed to drugs, so I reached down under the blanket and scratched through the sheet - taking care not to move the sheet across the skin.
Avatar f tn but when they did the study about aspirin the study was not done with plain aspirin it was buffered aspirin buffered aspirin contains Magnesium, Magnesium thins the blood. Aspirin can cause strokes and bleeding.
Avatar f tn You have to understand chemistry here. Vitamin C is an acid -- ascorbic acid. That's just how nature made it. Can't change that. For most people it's not really a problem, but if you take large doses it can be too acidic. Even in some foods it's too acidic; which is why one shouldn't overdo oranges. Too much acid can upset the stomach and interfere with it's natural acid/alkaline balance.
Avatar f tn NO. Sorry to be so abrupt but ibuprofen, the active ingredient in motrin, is EXTREMELY toxic to dogs! Even a small dose can lead to events that will kill him. It's best to check with your vet first on dosing, but he CAN have human aspirin as long as it's either buffered or enteric coated, like Ascriptin. But don't give him any other type of human OTC pain reliever because they are just not formulated for dogs.

Avatar m tn Also, is one hour fixation adequate for 10% neutral buffered formalin to permeate the specimen and kill the virus in room temperature?
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
306455 tn?1288862071 lotsatrout...good idea...you ought to get a patent....lidocaine suit...i like that!!! ...My educated guess says it is not addictive!!!...and we know where my educated guesses have gotten me before!!!
Avatar n tn t seem to be particularly helpful, but I have noticed that when I take a buffered aspirin along with it, my rhythm seems to improve. Does anyone have an answer as to why this may occur? Is it an indicator that I may have some blockage that responds to the blood thinning effects in aspirin. Am I at risk of going into heart failure because of the very frequent ectopic beats?
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
1375380 tn?1278892326 When I was first diagnosed 9 years ago, one of the first things my doc had me try was buffered salt tabs. Don't recall how many or how often but it just was not enough to control my symptoms. Although increased fluids and buffered salt tabs DID help a little.
Avatar f tn Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
673999 tn?1226935279 The new standard inoffice bladder instillation for IC is Lidocaine instillation with bicarbonate solution. The lidocaine is a local anesthetic and the bicarbonate allows the lidocaine to penetrate the bladder wall to get to the bladder nerves. Lidocaine without the bicarbonate solution has only minimal bladder wall penetration and very short duration of action (minutes to an hour).
Avatar m tn I have read previous posts, but am wondering what medications would cause a false negative 4th gen test. Medication that I am concerned about is lidocaine viscous. My Doctor has told me several times that it would not and that I am conclusive non-reactive. But just checking.
Avatar n tn t have a headache. I understand that there is a test or treatment involving lidocaine dripped directly on the sphenopalatine nerve. How do I get to the right specialist. More importantly, do my symptoms sound like this syndrome. I plan to explore this more with my doctor which is 12 days away.
14051 tn?1238251732 I have had 2 sympathetic blocks in the past, but no real relief. My surgeon gave me Lidocaine injections, on 2 different occasions, in my back, where the rod was on the right side to see if I had infection or the rods were the issue. The Lidocaine was a godsend!!!!
Avatar n tn My first ultra sound FNA was a done by a Radiologist. I felt the 1st stick of lidocaine. I didn't feel the other needle sticks, but felt lots of pressure. The Radiologist seemed to have lots of problems getting the needle into the nodule even though it was ultra sound guided. He poked around in me for about 25 minutes before getting a sample. I was scared to death and could feel the needle inside my throat every time I swallowed. Two days later, I was told the sample was not adequate.
