Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
About 10 days ago I tried benzocaine wipes on my penis to delay premature ejaculation. Around 7 days ago I noticed some persistent erectile dysfunction and numbness. It’s been a week and the numbness has improved slightly but I have no libido, no ability to get erections, and a consistent pins and needles sensation.
Could this be prolonged effects of the benzocaine? Or is this nerve damage?
Benzocaine was topical and doctor said I should have nothing to worry about and it should subside.
This can be overcome by using preservative-free lidocaine. In case of true allergy another class of anesthetics, the esters like benzocaine can be tried. Discuss all the options with your doctor before consenting for surgery.

They will need to determine where it is coming from.

It’s always advisable to wash the penis after using the benzocaine condoms since there are definite chances of benzocaine getting absorbed giving rise to the abnormal symptoms you are going through. It’s also important to use the right size condom otherwise the benzocaine may spill over and one’s partner may have to face the brunt of the side effects which can be really troublesome. My teeth used to be very sensitive to hot and cold temps, now i can actually chew ice. Its very weird. t have a premature ejaculation problem, I decided to try out condoms with benzocaine just for a change. I used it twice a day everyday for about 12 days (we were on our honeymoon) and at around two weeks, it started to numb my penis and I started having a hard time maintaining the erection. I didn't attribute the problem to the condom, and continued using it every 3 or 4 days. Each time it became worse.
My climax delay condoms have a 5% benzocaine gel inside. Is it safe to use 2 or 3 of these condoms in a row (for example within 2 hours)?
The CSW claimed to be HIV negative and also claimed that she gets tested regularly. I had wore two condoms(containing benzocaine) which were intact for the entire part of sex except when the benzocaine started burning my penis, I withdrew my penis, removed the condoms, put on another one(single) and continued sex. Post the intercourse I removed the condom and washed my penis with soap and water immediately. I was so terrified post that episode that I took COMBIVIR twice a day for 19 days.
Since the lab work is coming back normal nobody knows what to do. I started having all of these symptoms after using benzocaine a couple of times. This was over two months ago. I know benzocaine is supposed to be quickly absorbed through the system but it has affected me in a different way, unless there was some other chemical mixed in with the benzocaine. like a true allergy but a CNS reaction. Lidocaine/ Xylocaine/ Benzocaine (that whole family) is the worst. It took a while to figure that one out. After myelograms, I reacted and was hospitalized. I was unable to stand (I already had right leg weakness and a gait disturbance but WHOA was it worse now)! I was confined to bed with a portapotty and pressure cuffs initially. I had increased abnormal reflexes.

Avoid hemorrhoid creams that contain anesthetics such as benzocaine. These may temporarily relieve pain, but can cause allergic side effects.
Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation.
I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
