BP 118/80 usually, basal temp 95-96, temp 96-7 during the day, I get low fevers, have to use heating pad to stay warm, sun sensitivity w/o blistering rash,sensitive to CYP3A4 type drugs esp. SOMA and toradol.Others with porphyria say I get tested. Should I see hematologist to test for porphyria or similar disease?
for 45-60 mins, alternating with panting and belching, and waking up to moan and scream, then slump over again. When she comes to, she is very confused, doesn't know her own mother, where she is., etc. Then she will snap out of it, and cannot remember what she ate. She will giggle about it. Does any of this sound like porphyria? I think some symptoms do, but would love to hear from anyone who has it or takes care of someone with it. Thanks.
My father has Accute Intermittent Porphyria and I have had many years of bowel symptoms including constipation diarrhea bloating, I have also had my galbladder removed, it was swollen and only functioning 20%. I have bouts of severe fatigue sweats with the feeling of passing out usually followed by diarrhea and stomach pain and also nausea. My urine is not the orange color I hear is neccessary to confirm prohyria but it does get dark at times and totally clear other times.

Does anyone know what can cause erythrocyte protoporphyrin levels to be more than twice what they should? I've had GI problems for three years and just recently a doctor thought I might have porphyria. After reviewing my test results, though, he really didn't know what to do with me. I've done research and I believe protoporphyrins are elevated in erythropoietic protoporphyria, but I have no symptoms of photosensitivity.
There was a lady who had this disease called porphyria, and almost all of the symptoms she had my wife is currently having. She has severe abdominal pain, night sweats, twitching at night, nausea, vomiting, panic attacks (no history of), chest pain, problems breathing, severe anemia, shes taking birth control for the anemia, nexium for the abdominal pain along with hydrocodone. No purple urine, though i have not put it in the sun. This has been going on for about 6 months now.
My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.
Welcome, I went to pubmed and ran a simple search with hcv AND hemochrotosis and the first clip that came up was similiar to what you asked. Bottom line is unfortunetly with his genetic makeup the liver disease has hit him very hard, at least that's the highest probability. I'm a bit surprised that he wasn't given a clear cut heads up. That is why it is extremely important to see the very best Heptologist that you can, as fast as you can. I hope he is seeing the very best now.

ve had quite a few stellate ganglion blocks and have had some success. They thought the lidocaine infusion might help the other pain I deal with and kill two (or more) birds at the same time so to speak.
KittKat23-78, Sorry the infusion didn't help you!! I hadn't heard about having several a few days apart; I'll have to ask about it. Mine is (at least one) being paid for by worker's comp. I'm hopeful but also trying to keep things realistic and in perspective.
left pointer finger, at work i stuck a cedar sliver under the nail past the start point of the nail. I attempted to pull it out and it broke off. only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches.
Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
