1571533 tn?1322943509 Hey. I went to my PCP yesterday and he gave me a LIDODERM, a lidocaine patch, to try and help with the pain in my neck -he thinks if that calms down so will the migraines.. theyve been everyday constantly for well over a month and a half, and no meds help.. nor do therapeutic methods i have here at home.. Has anyone here used it before? And did it help? I tried to use it last night but it wouldnt stick to my neck.
Avatar f tn No relief and now has gastroenteritis from all the steroids and NSAIDS. Back to the ER and treated with viscous lidocaine and mylanta to numb stomach. This actually helped a little with stomach. I've stopped the neurontin, but have continued the topamax once daily. Now we are taking Prilosec and mylanta. This has changed my entire families life for exactly one month. It's been a living nightmare that seems as though it will never end. We just want to get back to our normal life's.
Avatar m tn I have a neurologist due to the lesions on my brain and spine and the cyst and they have tried several different things a lot of them worked. However Im pregnant with twins and extremely high risk so a lot of what would usually work for treatment is off limits.
Avatar f tn Or you should take prophylactic meds which are taken daily to prevent the migraines. Have you tried any of these? If so and if none worked, I have one that is herbal that finally helped me after trying a whole bunch of prophylactics--Petadolex at www.petadolex.com. What have helped me the most are nerve block injections every 4 weeks and Botox injections every 9 weeks. I still have "crashes" of my migraines when I do a little bit too much.
Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
Avatar n tn Hi Chloe, Such a beautiful name! I am sorry to hear about your migraines and the nausea and exhaustion that they are causing. Excedrine Migraine is great for occassional migraines or headaches but long term use causes the medicine to trigger more migraines, which is the exact opposite goal of the medicine in the first place. The hydrocodone is quite a bit stronger than the Excedrine and I am surprised it is not working and not even making a dent in the pain.
Avatar f tn My orbital itself is what hurts and I do not have vision loss. We have tried injections of lidocaine, steroids, steroid drops, oral steriods, indocin, and gabapentin; none of which have helped. The pain is NOT a migraine. I am NOT having sinus issues or The doctor I am currently seeing is at Barnes Jewish Hospital's Center for Advanced Medicine. We are quickly running out of options and doctors in the St. Louis area and the doctors are at a loss.
Avatar n tn I recently have diagnosed with MS, chronic Fibromyalgia, myalgia, and Chronic severe Migraines. I am going to a pain management clinic. I get injections of Lidocaine steroids. So far I find they are not working and end up in more pain. then I should be. I've been told that I will be on some pain medication and steroids for the rest of my life unless I go into remission.. I'm take all kinds of vitamins as well.
Avatar f tn An MRI brain is warranted to rule out any intracranial lesion particularly aneurysm and MRI spine for ruling out cervical spondylosis and degenerative disc disease. Temporal tendinitis mimics migraines including TMJ pain temporal headaches, tooth sensitivity, neck and shoulder pain. Treatment includes injecting local anesthetics and other medicines, moist heat muscle relaxants and NSAIDs along with physiotherapy. Multiple sclerosis would also need to be excluded.
Avatar n tn Most recently I have tried topomax which made me extremely sick. The next try was lamictal which has had no real effect on my migraines and caused me to have breakthrough bleeding problems. The doctors no longer want me to take immetrex or relpax because they have discovered a minor blood clot behind my eye. In the mean time the only thing I can take is ketrolac and only three pills in a week time period. Ketrolac is not nearly as effective as some of the other migraine medications out there.
Avatar f tn My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.
Avatar n tn (I have to find a neuro because my past ones would not listen to me, I do not think my last one even read my chart) I trust my primary and he listens to me and is honest. So if I could have some good research I know he would listen and he might even tell his other patients. If you need to give me more info than a simple reply allows, feel free to send me a message in my inbox.
Avatar f tn Hello, My doctor added a lidocaine nasal spray compound to my med. list. I try it first, if it doesn't work, i take maxalt melt tabs. My migraines are very severe and i have too many triggers too name, some i am not even aware of. My family docs have never heard of this spray, so if you want the whole name to tell your doc to try it let me know. it has helped me. If i can ever not take po meds and avoid rebound headaches i am all for it!!! Good Luck!
Avatar f tn I saw an ENT today for sinus evaluation (unrelated), and he numbed both nostrils with lidocaine. I experienced almost immediate relief of my eye pain, although it's back now, 4 hours later. Does the fact that the lidocaine eliminated the pain have any implications for why my eye is still hurting? Thanks!
Avatar f tn So I have really bad vaginismus to the point where intercourse can only be done with a lot of lidocaine and with the help of dilators. I am 15 weeks pregnant and concerned about delivery. Will my vaginismus prevent me from vaginal delivery? Is anyone else dealing with or has dealt with this??
Avatar n tn Also, have had PRP, Plasma Replacement Prolotherapy, they take ur plasma and mix it with lidocaine and inject it into ur muscles, spine and other areas....this helps to heal and attack inflammation, with ur own plasma, so ur body accepts it. It has worked miracles for me. Prior to this, I have had Botox, Nerve Blocks, Nerve conductor test....u name it, this is the closest thing I have gotten to relief, and it is NON-NARCOTIC!
Avatar f tn ve had quite a few stellate ganglion blocks and have had some success. They thought the lidocaine infusion might help the other pain I deal with and kill two (or more) birds at the same time so to speak. KittKat23-78, Sorry the infusion didn't help you!! I hadn't heard about having several a few days apart; I'll have to ask about it. Mine is (at least one) being paid for by worker's comp. I'm hopeful but also trying to keep things realistic and in perspective.
Avatar m tn left pointer finger, at work i stuck a cedar sliver under the nail past the start point of the nail. I attempted to pull it out and it broke off. only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
Avatar f tn At first, they could control these spasms by a few pain shots, a GI cocktail which is lidocaine and Maalox I think and IV Tagamet. The spasms and vomiting would stop after 30 minutes. But, I had to start taking increasing amounts of opioids for my complex regional pain syndrome. So pain shots didn't work anymore, GI cocktail stopped working as well as IV Tagamet. They would load me up with anti-emetics such as Reglan.
383138 tn?1314167773 But since I had such severe heart reaction to just a shot of lidocaine at dentist in the past, the cardiologist said I am lucky I didnt go into cardiac arrest at that time and if they put lidocaine in me again he said my heart may suddenly fail (sudden cardiac arrest) and it may not be able to recover next time. And the warnings on lidocaine (even for people w/out heart problems) are such things as: rare but possible arrhythmias and cardiac arrest.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female and I had a seizure while having dental work done about 3 weeks ago. I had been given lidocaine and nitrous oxide. Following the appointment, I went to a neurologist and had a CT scan and an MRI done. Both showed no brain abnormalities. I had eclampsia 4 years ago and had seizures which resulted in the early delivery of my child. Aside from my seizures 4 years ago, I had no previous history of seizure disorder.
Avatar n tn I would feel a whole lot better without using any anesthetic during the procedure since I had a terrible experience back in 1989 when I was given a skin test for Lidocaine and Meprivacaine? both WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE,YES,WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE and I made sure of that before the skin test. They had to discontinue the Lidocaine because of heart side effects. But they finished with the other one and they thought that everything was fine and sent me home..The next day,BOOM! they hit with a vengence..P.
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
Avatar m tn I am 31 and have been diagnosed with RSD/CRPS and it is very painful and it all started with a football injury in High School. Avatar n tn t find any scientific articles that specifically deal with positive test results of cocaine from the use of lidocaine (anesthetic) but it is mentioned a few times. Here's a website with the information posted for false positives. You may want to contact the writer of the article to see what his/her sources were. http://www.med.nyu.edu/patientcare/library/article.html?
Avatar f tn A few years ago my mom was diagnosed with vaginal and rectal cancer in the end the doctor prescribed her lidocaine 2% jelly for painful intercourse and bowel movements. Would it be safe to use it during anal sex? I have used it before after the birth of my daughter and it worked wonders. I would like an idea on it before I did use it.
