Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
459155 tn?1264008142 I just got my rx of suboxone today...I've been taking subutex for a week. The prescribing dr thinks that I should take these for 6 months but after talking to a friend that is on sub now, I am NOT staying on this for 6 months!! I am going to come up with my own taper. My question is.... I think avisg explained to me last week what the half life meant and it's around 36-72 hours...is that how long this will stay in my system? Will I start to feel w/d's then?

Avatar m tn I got prescribed Norco, lidocaine patches, and diclofenac 75 mg. Yesterday I took Norco and I put a lidocaine patch and I woke up with weird heart sensation, like slow heart rate or something. Could it be caused by lidocaine patch? I also take the following medication: Atorvastatin Calcium 80 Mg- 1 tab in the evening Carvedilol 6.
14051 tn?1238251732 proposed celiac plexus nerve block using X-ray and lidocaine only for pancreatic cancer pain and to reduce pain killer dependence.. I see alcohol or phenol most often mentioned for this. Anyone know if lidocaine only successful?
Avatar m tn left pointer finger, at work i stuck a cedar sliver under the nail past the start point of the nail. I attempted to pull it out and it broke off. only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches.
Avatar m tn Lidocaine is a well known anaesthetic with a long established safety history and many uses. In injectable form the medication has a relatively short half-life. It may not cure the tinnitis, but an injection will not harm you.
Avatar m tn Anger is a side effect of antidepressants for some people. Remember that side effects vary by the individual and by the drug. And also, if your depression was only mild, I wonder why you went on medication instead of using therapy and lifestyle changes to get you over? Did you try it and it didn't work?
Avatar m tn Howdy, I've been dealing with major back and neck pain for the last week. Yesterday around 11a, I took a 5mg Flexeril and boy did it do wonders. After a brief nap, most of my pain greatly subsided. The following hours, about 10p, I did see an uptick in stiffness but nothing compared to the pain before the Flexeril. I know Flexeril has an unusually long half-life, about 18 hrs.
Avatar m tn I know the answer to that question but im not going to tell you and Im not trying to be mean, I am in day 13 Of suboxone withdrawal, and I can honesly say I never want to touch an opiate again, Are you just not ready to be clean or do you have a serious medical condition? You cant keep switching poisons to avoid W/D it will catch up to you one day.Im curious what your story is, Do you not think being chained to these drugs is the most awful feeling that there is?

Avatar n tn I have an appointment with the oral surgeon next Tuesday and I am feeling so aprehensive about the whole thing that I have signed up for a life insurance policy and I am also planning my demise if the unfortunate happens on that day.I also have considered postponing the surgery until a time when I'm feeling better and getting less P.V.C.s in my heart.
Avatar f tn My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used a pain patch for their TMJ pain? have some Lidoderm patches, which contain 5% Lidocaine, which I have for my fibaro and spine problems. I just got back from Reno, Nv, which was an 1143 mile round trip. The trip down was fine, but the trip back today was in rain, hail, wind and snow. Needless to say now in more pain than ever. I had a massage while there, concentrated on the head, neck and shoulders. Masseuse commented I had a major major amt of tight muscles and knots.
Avatar f tn ve had quite a few stellate ganglion blocks and have had some success. They thought the lidocaine infusion might help the other pain I deal with and kill two (or more) birds at the same time so to speak. KittKat23-78, Sorry the infusion didn't help you!! I hadn't heard about having several a few days apart; I'll have to ask about it. Mine is (at least one) being paid for by worker's comp. I'm hopeful but also trying to keep things realistic and in perspective.
Avatar f tn Went back to outpatient ER by ambulance and they numbed me again with lidocaine and got about a quarter of a cup of seeds out by manual disimpaction. That hurt so bad!!!! Came home and tried to go and the rest he couldn't reach now moved down to where the others were. It was a waiting game for the seeds to soften and pass. I had them stuck in my anus for over 8 days. Worst pain I've ever been in. Now I have had hemorrhoids from the constant pushing I was doing trying to go.
383138 tn?1314167773 But since I had such severe heart reaction to just a shot of lidocaine at dentist in the past, the cardiologist said I am lucky I didnt go into cardiac arrest at that time and if they put lidocaine in me again he said my heart may suddenly fail (sudden cardiac arrest) and it may not be able to recover next time. And the warnings on lidocaine (even for people w/out heart problems) are such things as: rare but possible arrhythmias and cardiac arrest.
Avatar f tn Here's the deal on half life and Suboxone --- it is from 37 to 72 hours -(depending on which lab tested it) ---- Now, what does that mean for us? Glad you asked. The first 37 hours - half of the drug is excreted in Urine and feces. Then over the next 37 hours half of what is left in the body is excreted. Then in another 37 hours, half of what is left (1/8) is excreted and so on. It takes approximately 4 to 5 days for you not to have any blocking action from the Sub.
1084115 tn?1385228589 The mean half-life for multiple doses in the body is about 12 days, but very long-term kinetics are dominated by the kinetics of RBCs (half-life 40 days). RBCs store ribavirin for the lifetime of the cells, releasing it into the body's systems when old cells are degraded in the spleen.
738895 tn?1234654277 I think heroin has a half life of 4-8 hrs, and methadown 20-36hrs, i understand that it takes 36hrs for half the drug dose to leave your body, but theres only 2 day deference between the two drugs but methadown takes months to kick and heroin weeks. thats the part i dont understand but theres only 2 day deference between the two. anyone with knowledge please try in a laymen terms to explain. thanks for any help in advance.
Avatar f tn So I have really bad vaginismus to the point where intercourse can only be done with a lot of lidocaine and with the help of dilators. I am 15 weeks pregnant and concerned about delivery. Will my vaginismus prevent me from vaginal delivery? Is anyone else dealing with or has dealt with this??
Avatar n tn ve always wondered about this scenario since this question also applies to other medicines with a long half-life and alcohol or other drug interactions. Feel free to go into any detail, I have a (rusty) background in pharmacology. Thanks in Advance.
