Common Questions and Answers about Levoxyl joint pain

synthroid

Avatar n tn I just started on synthroid, is it common to have an unusal increase in joint pain and other symptons?
Avatar n tn I am getting crazy with my symptoms for last 2 years , instead of getting better it is either in same place or bit worst. Main issue i have is muscles ache /joint pain and exercise intolerance .I can hold things longer i have pain in my calves /shin splint and upper arms/shoulder . Doctor thought could be RA but test came back negative and other autoimmune test also came back negative .
Avatar f tn and start experiencing the symptoms of hypothyroidism. such as . fatigue muscle aches, pains, joint pain, brain fog . eyes puffiness, possible hair falling out, anxiety, and on and on. if you think its too much get retested. and have your doctor readjust you medication. if your remaining thyroid isn't producing at all or hardly anything it could be very dangerous! in the short time(month or so) even fatal!! . so check with your doctor first!!! .
Avatar n tn I've had Hashimoto's for 30 years and my youngest daughter was diagnosed with it a month ago. Now my older daughter has suddenly develped intense joint pain...in every joint. I've read that can be a symptom of Hashimoto's or perhaps she has develped Rhematoid arthitis, another autoimmune disease. She goes in tomorrow for a bunch of blood work...thyroid and other... Has anyone on this site had experience with joint pain associated with Hashimoto's?
280485 tn?1249013844 Last month my doctor change my brand from levoxyl to synthyroid since after week i am having muscles and joint pain which is killing me every day , it is so bad that i can coop up with my daily work and also very dry mouth i think because of that my tongue is white all the time .
280485 tn?1249013844 I just found this thread posted on Drug Info Net. Synthroid [posted 1/8/99] Question: It is my impression that the synthroid may be affecting my hip joint, which is very stiff whenever I change positions. These symptoms of my joint stiffness and aching started and have progressed since Jan 1998. Is it true that I can't stop taking the synthroid now, to see if the joint stiffness goes away?
Avatar f tn (I had many symptoms...very irregular periods, hair falling out, weight gain, horrible joint pain) and yet despite all of those and more, all the previous endo. just told me, we are going to wait until your thyroid "burns out" and then we will treat you. They all said exactly the same thing! So, without being treated for about 4 years I proceeded to gain a tremendous amount of weight. Anyway...it''s years and years later and I am a mess.
Avatar n tn I see nothing in those labs to explain your fatigue, joint pain and anxiety. Do you have current lab results for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin?
865758 tn?1285952904 I see that my TSH is up, my Free T4 is up and my Free T3 is WAY up but I feel terrible. I am still suffering from fatigue, headaches, muscle and joint pain SEVERLY, tingling and numbness, lightheadeness, dry eyes and mouth, GI symptoms IBS. I have seen some imrovement with the anxiety and depression but they are still there. What do you think? Is my Free T3 too high and if it's normal and this is the most active thryoid hormone why don't I feel better?
280485 tn?1249013844 I seem to trade bloating and joint/muscle pain issues for sleeping issues when I go on combo replacement... If I had to pick, I'd take the sleeping issues I have on the combo. I've have heard that Armour (pig gland) has more T3 than humans actually need. So I'm affraid to try that if I'm having problems sleeping on a reduced amount of Cytomel now. But I'd like to be like Snow White and find the bed (or porridge?...or whatever that nusery rhyme is...
Avatar f tn It started after a brief period (1 day) of low grade fever and afterwards its been like flu-like fatigue, joint and body aches but with no fever. Sometimes my body temperature is low (35.9 C to 36.4F) and when this happens I do get very tired and achy. Also I have been experiencing constipation and pain around the eyes and facial bones.
Avatar f tn I have had hypothyroid for 15 yrs now and never had a joint or muscle pain one until about 3 months ago I had an overnite change in my joints and muscles.....back legs neck arms...I couldn't even brush my teeth without having to switch arms back and forth they ached so bad. I am talking flat out PAIN. The Doctor I am seeing now thinks its Fibromyalgia, but I am not so sure. Been doing some research and something that I overlooked was Thrush in my mouth.
Avatar f tn My stomach pain went away and so did my joint pain. When my blood work came back, the doctor recommended I up my dose from .25 mcg to .50 mcg, but since I still had a bottle of Synthroid, I just took two a day until they were all. When I picked up my new prescription from the pharmacy and brought it home, I realized they'd filled it with generic. I figured I'd give it a try.
Avatar f tn I took this dose (25mg cytomel and 100mcg of levoxyl) for about a month and felt much better.. Joint pain was gone, fibroid cysts stop rupturing, hair and nails were growing and I definately had energy. There were 2 main concerns though. First, sometimes I felt like I had so much energy that I couldn't do ANYTHING if that makes any since. I felt like I was overwhelmed and in a whirlwind quite often. I wasn't losing ANY weight as I had heard people on Cytomel do and last..
491352 tn?1258807095 I had a terrible time with Synthroid. I switched post TT, after about 3 months on Levothyroxine and Cytomel combo. I almost immediately puffed up like a marshmellow and had severe joint/arthritis pain. I dubbed myself "Princess Bloat-a-lot"... I've since switched to Levoxyl and added the Cytomel back in, and the issues seem to be dissipating. I also have calcium, vit D issues. I'm working on that as well with 50,000 IU's per week.
Avatar n tn I am really tired to death with my TSH level which is playing a ping pong game with me. Since the day i diagnosed to Hypothyroid i am having muscles cramp/joint pain/muscles pain it some times get better which i believe because of TSH level but when i test my thyroid levels it some times came back high or some times came back low . For example in my Oct25th my TSH 1.1 ( 0.4-4.0) FT4 1.68 (0.8-1.
Avatar f tn This is amazing link that I found, talking about all the things I could possibly happen taking Synthroid, things that a lot of you feel and her shunned by your doctors telling you it’s in your head and it’s not. I know what I felt and was told no one gets joint pain, for example just recently. Please don’t let anyone tell you it’s in your head when you know it’s not and of course always advocate for yourself. https://mentalhealthdaily.
Avatar f tn I am glad some one else also have symptoms of muscles /joint pain . I have been complaining about those symptoms since 2 years and notice since my doctor changed my brand from levoxyl to synthyroid m my muscles and joints are hurting too much ,i can't do any physical work long enough even when i type my fingers hurts a lot.
Avatar f tn i'm having bad joint pain...muscle ache....an here's my blood work results...want to see what you think.....tsh....3rd generation what does this mean......3.90........t-3 uptake...33....t-4...7.0.......progesterone..0.8.....estrodiol...128...testerone...38.....free test...1.25 an testerone free4.7....what seems to be not normal....my tongue burns like it's burnt....say it's hormonal...but doctor says all is ok...w/labs...i'm 46 what is normal ??? i'm om levoxyl...25....
Avatar n tn I also had mega joint/arthritis-like pain so I switched to Levoxyl and finally back to Levothyroxine plus Cytomel. Not all drugs work the same for everyone. I'm a fan of trying multiple until you find the one or combo of drugs that works for you. Some have fillers that just don't work for some particular bodies.
Avatar f tn Im taking levoxyl 125 and 50000 vitamin D every two weeks. on pain meds, percocet, zoloft, and lunesta for sleep. Ive got others that I dont take muscle relaxers. ive had spinal ablation for lower back and cervical for degenerative disk disease and osteoarthritis. Im 50 not 90 but feel like I am. They gave me an injection for inflammation a few weeks ago that help with the burning pain I was having all over my body. Thanks again for taking your time to post.

1070570 tn?1283436213 new reformulated Armour brand! Joint pain and fatigue within a week with blood work changes! T4 had dropped drastically and t3 substantually! All on same dose just new script. The fillers and binders were changed in the Armour and many people were having issues on it. I'd go back to the original (t3/t4) doctor (not the endo. ) and give Nature-Throid a try! It is a desiccated porcine hormone (has not been changed) which has t3 and t4. It has worked very well for my daughter.

Avatar f tn I have the throat inflammation (really antibodies attacking my thyroid), joint pain, weight gain, sinus, recurring infections, joint pain, headaches, heartburn, GERD, constipation, muscle pain, weakened legs, serious menstrual issues, weakened immunity due to my auto-immune disease. I suggest you rule out Hashimoto's with the TGab and TPOab blood tests, get a thyroid ultrasound to see what is making your inflammation, as well as rule out other auto-immune diseases.
Avatar n tn I am 35 and have had off and on problems since I was a teenager with joint pain, muscle pain and cramps, painful menstrual cycles and fatigue and trouble focusing. They thought for a long time I had lupus or Rheumatoid, but I managed to dodge treatment as everything came up negative and I dealt with it myself. But this past year everything got so much worse and I was tired all the time and missing work, so my doc ran some thyroid tests.
