synthroid

Avatar f tn In 2005 I had the right side of my thyroid removed. I've been on Levoxyl 75mcg. since that time and recently was put on Cytomel .5mgc twice a day. What would result if I had to stop taking them? Thank you kindly for your information.
Avatar n tn I was taking Levoxyl for hypo-thyroidism and it was automatically changed to the generic form, L-Thyroxine. After taking the Thyroxine I noticed a terrible burning in the throat and indigestion which I never had with the Levoxyl. So I am requesting to be changed back to the Levoxyl. I think some of these medications have different ingredients. I never had this happen with the Levoxyl. I hope this helps anyone who has been put on the generic form of medication.
Avatar f tn s to hypo, so I am wondering how long it might take for me to start getting relief and get back to life with the help of levoxyl? Also, does it help at all with weight loss? I know I'll have to exercise, but I can't believe all the extra pounds I am carrying are because of my diet. Thank you for any advice!! Take care...
Avatar f tn Over 2 years ago, my thyroid was removed. I've always been EXTREMELY sensitive to all types of medications, so I haven't had a chance to grieve having cancer because of the fear I would have exactly the problem I'm now having. Since the surgery, I've been on over 30 different doses of 5 different thyroid meds and couldn't tolerate anything. I had a page long list of symptoms. After a myriad of tests, the conclusion is allergies to the fillers was the problem.
727481 tn?1231203771 life before RAI was tolerable, and then okay for a few months after that, but starting with hypo medication I got the shakes, whacky blood pressure, have acute insomnia, chest pressure, feel dizzy, and have vertually put my life on hold. Went out yesterday for the first time in a week and was ready to come home after two hours. I truly think it's the medication but for some reason can't convince my doctor.
Avatar f tn I have been going through this for many years and after changing my thyroid med to levoxyl I started having problems again. I was on 5 grain Armour and for reasons between my doctor and myself we switched to 200 mcg Levoxyl. Well it only made things worse. and I gained 15 lbs in the 4 months ALL in my stomach. I look 7 months prego and every week feeling more and more hyper. I have NO desire to eat and very dry mouth, I do sleep ok at night though.
549681 tn?1229724499 Well, this has certainly been a loooong haul. 10 months since I was diagnosed hyperT. 3 1/2 months since RAI for a big hot nodule. 3 weeks on 50 mcg Levoxyl and I'm now officially normal! TSH - 2.3 FT 4 - 1.38 FT 3 - 2.7 The ladies at the lab said I'm a turnip. Ya know, you can't get blood out of a turnip. Jeesh, 3 people and 4 sticks. I'm ready for a break from that! I know these levels may not be stable until 6 weeks on Levoxyl. But I hope this is a good sign!
393986 tn?1303825975 ) I was scared to death. I am feeling so much better today, pushing fluids like crazy and taking my medication. The mix of having Still's and now this thyroid problem really has me in rut row. I still have no answer to the thyroid problem but Monday I will be seeing my Dr first thing in the morning and hopefully the answers will make sense. If there is any. The thing I don't get is, if I have high thyroid hormones wouldn't that make me hyperthyroid?
725446 tn?1231023862 Hello to ALL and Happy New Year!...My goodness, I can't believe there is finally an online Thyroid forum. With Oprah opening up and talking just recently about her thyroid problem has brought light to this issue...thank heavens. I decided to search for info again after giving up a few years ago. Today I found this forum and a few other sites too. At times I've felt alone and a bit nutty since having a Total Thyroidectomy due to several benign nodules and thyroiditis.
Avatar f tn As doctors do, they said the dose needed to be increased to 50 mcgs, I persisted with it for short while longer, felt much worse with skin allergies, mood swings and I stopped taking it altogether. I have been taking Nutrithyroid for the past 3 years and my levels have been reasonably well controlled on this. A month ago the TSH was raised at 31 and T4 was 12.
Avatar f tn but I think I will push for the the switch to Levoxyl with either outcome. Thanks for following up with me that means a lot. Can you tell I'm anxious for an increase in meds...so ready to feel better.
Avatar n tn I have been back on Levoxyl after being off it for 8 months.I felt good at first but going in to my third week -not so good.I feel very tired, legs are wobbly and like jelly at times.I just feel blah and like passing out at times. Is it possible the dose is too high?My doctor put me on 88 mcg when I was previously on 75.tsh was over 26 but I hear it corrects pretty qiuickly when back on meds.Any input would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn In contrast, I bought a 3 month (90 day) supply of Levoxyl for $27, with insurance sharing the cost. I took the first one this morning.
616450 tn?1228433627 After the RAI I felt great for a few months. When the doctor put me on Levoxyl, after I supposedly went a LITTLE hypo, I started feeling like ****. I have more anxiety, can't sleep and my heart gets pumped up easily. I get out of breath real easy too. I think my heart is affected and I have chest pains. I feel sick and nauseated all the time and have to go lay down even at work, so I'll eventually lose my job if something isn't done.
581310 tn?1253029550 I was taking 100mcgs levoxyl but if I have to go back I will ask for cytomel to help raise my t3. Thank you for any information!
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 25mgs of levoxyl and everytime I take the pill i get a racing heartbeat and heart palpitations. I have called my doctor and the nurse there told me to take the pill every other day. i tried that but then I would get the palpitations on the days I would take it. Then I called back after a week and was told to take it every 3 days. I stopped for 3 days to get some of it out of my system and felt great. Not as many palpitations and i was able to sleep.
Avatar n tn d like to know if, in your experience, surgery would put an end to the autoimune process. I understand I would then become hypo and need T4 replacement for the rest of my life but right now my quality of life is declining rapidly.I've been dealing with a lot of discomfort for 2 years and beind 42 years old with 2 children I need to find a way to feel better again. I have recently developed anemia, not sure whether is related to the thyroid. You suggest watchful waiting.
Avatar n tn I have always taken levoxyl for my hypothyroidism. My sister was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was prescribed levothyroxin. Her dosage was increased shortly after her diagnosis and she gave me some of her pills because it is the same dose I am taking. She thought I could use the extra pills. Is there a difference in the response to these two medications? Also within the last several months my weight has increased, pretty much overall but mainly my stomach.
506043 tn?1222294696 I have been all over the board with meds... I am currently at 200 Levoxyl (which is btw the largest dose, both on Synthroid and Levoxyl, I've been on thus far) and starting to feel a little better (Synthroid sucked for me). I'm a titch on the hyper side right now, but the labs were run b4 the switch to Levoxyl. I'm waiting to take the half dose on Sundays as directed by my endo's nurse, because I want to see if the Levoxyl and Syntrhoid are comparable dosage wise for me.
Avatar f tn ive recently went through divorce and have no insurance, so no medical care, my question is how long can your body go with out levoxyl, i have no thyroid, removal in 2001 was in thyroid storm and had graves,,,, any natural componants i can get over the counter? been without for about 2 mounts now,m any really starting to notice a change. Please help !!!
168348 tn?1379357075 Appt with the surgeon on 23rd for my boob, which I guess is totally not related! :0 Trying to find some humor in all this madness that has taken over my life.
Avatar f tn I have had thyroid disease for years, being diagnosed with Graves Disease in 1992, having radioactive iodine in 1997, then becoming hypothyroid ever since. I have been on levoxyl since 1997 and had some surgeries and major episodes happen in my life since 2003, which, in turn, have stressed me out. My tsh level was 58.165 back in June and my primary dr put me on 300mcg of levoxyl but I could only take it for a week as I thought I would jump right out of my skin.
Avatar f tn Usually levoxyl is started for hypothyroidism -- a high TSH level would be the tip-off. Natural products have not been proven to be consistently helpful.
Avatar f tn Has any heard that you can split your levoxyl doses? My psychiatrist said you can take it in two doses. I know you can take armour and cytomel in two doses, but I e never heard this about t4 meds.
