Avatar f tn It's highly likely the emergency contraceptive pill you took is making her bleed, and will likely cause intermittent bleeding for the next month or so - and could delay her usual period at least for one month. Additionally, if you aren't having penetrative sex, there is no way she'll get pregnant. A few sperm deposited at the outside opening of her vagina won't be able to swim all the way up to an egg, without seminal fluid to neutralize the Ph.
2104296 tn?1334841551 I friend of mine is on this birth control. She is having some huge side effects. I am trying to find more information about this birth control for her. I have lots of questions and looking for some answers. If anyone has used this birth control and has had problems with it. Please contact me so I can compare notes. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Gg, you can still be fertile the day after ovulation, so taking emergency contraception was wise. I think you may have taken more than necessary, which may itself cause some side effects.
Avatar m tn just take the morning after pill and start on the birth control like a week later as the dose of hormones are high in the morning after pill and may cause alot of side effects if you start birth control pill so soon. hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I have been researching the cardiovascular effects of birth control and saw that it can raise c-reactive protein levels. How clinically significant is this? I know crp is a measure of inflammation in the body. So is increasing it's level going to actually cause inflammation? Or is it simply upregulated, and if so what are the consequences of that? I recently switched for alesse which has levonorgestrel. I read this progestin has the worst effect on cholesterol levels.
Avatar f tn Plan B® One-Step is composed of a progestin-only (levonorgestrel) tablet. Levonorgestrel is well-trusted and has been commonly used in many birth control pills for over 35 years. In a clinical trial, women tolerated Plan B® One-Step well; 14% experienced nausea and 1% experienced vomiting.5 Plan B® One-Step is safe and well-tolerated. Some women may experience mild side effects, similar to those of regular birth control pills.

Avatar n tn For the first month it was OK, no side effects other then some loss of libido. After talking with doc about it he changed it to another one with levonorgestrel instead of dienogest. After 2 days of taking it I started experiencing extreme thirst, anxiety, palpitations, minor blood sugar rise and hard to sleep (since thirst was waking me up several times). I endured it for 1 week and went to my gynecologist to talk about it.

Avatar f tn It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.
730826 tn?1317943334 Im not vomiting any more but still am nausious. Its been a month since then. Can the side effects last this long or is there another reason for the nausea?

And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica? She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?
874116 tn?1240368959 You should never use EC the way you did. Its meant for emergencies....like a condom breaking or if you found yourself unexpectedly having intercourse you did not plan on. If you want a break from the pill in the future, use contraceptive foam and condoms. Never use EC. Its not 100% effective--more like 60-70%, depending on when and how you take it. If you keep taking it as you were doing, you're bound to end up pregnant at some point.
Avatar m tn I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
