I had Mirena inserted for about 2 years. During that time I had tons of mood swings, lack of energy and problems with my skin. I was an emotional wreck and gained 20 lbs with no changes to my diet. It caused issues in my marriage with my moodiness. I finally had it removed and I've been about a year Mirena free. I have lost 15 within the past few months without even trying. It takes a while for the added hormones to leave your body. The weight I added it mostly gone.
It's highly likely the emergency contraceptive pill you took is making her bleed, and will likely cause intermittent bleeding for the next month or so - and could delay her usual period at least for one month. Additionally, if you aren't having penetrative sex, there is no way she'll get pregnant. A few sperm deposited at the outside opening of her vagina won't be able to swim all the way up to an egg, without seminal fluid to neutralize the Ph.

The biggest problem is joint pain, primarily in my legs...although my back is pretty tight, but I suspect mostly from carrying the baby. I looked into reasons for joint pain and Mirena IUD came up and thinking back it started about a month or so after I had the IUD put in.

I have been on Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol birth control pills for more than 1 year. My last period occured during 10th Sept 2012. I stopped taking the pills from the 5th day of the current period cycle. We had unprotected sex from the 12th day of the current menstrual period cycle. Now just after doing the sex, I have started feeling sore nipples, dizzyness, cramps in lower abdomen, very thirsty and sometimes pain in one side of the body.
About three weeks ago, I had a mirena IUD removed after 5 years of use. I am 51, and have not had a period in 2 years. I thought I had gone through menopause - hot flashes, night sweats, etc. Now, I am having a period! I did have 4 days of light spotting after the mirena came out. Now, I started with two days of brown spotting, and now the blood is birght red, and seems to be picking up speed. Is this normal?
Hi i am 24 yrs old and just had my third child about 6 mo ago, i received the mirena iud about 6 wks after delivery, and since then i have been having bad headaches, heart palpitations, bad dry skin, and i actually gained another 30 lbs when with my other kids i lost weight afterwards..and i have been very very moody!
I have been researching the cardiovascular effects of birth control and saw that it can raise c-reactive protein levels. How clinically significant is this? I know crp is a measure of inflammation in the body. So is increasing it's level going to actually cause inflammation? Or is it simply upregulated, and if so what are the consequences of that? I recently switched for alesse which has levonorgestrel. I read this progestin has the worst effect on cholesterol levels.
Yes I've taken the shot but that wasn't good for me so i think I'll do the IUD n have it for 5 years n see how my body responds to it as for side effects thanks guys
t hurt to breathe. Could a person have such serious side effects in just a weeks time? Could this be something else going on? How do I tell? If I need to discontinue the ring, then what are my options? I chose the ring because of the convenience & low hormones, but if I am already experiencing side effects what do I try next? I am only 33, & wanted to wait before I do the whole IUD thing. Please help...
