Avatar m tn He then gave me a script for 1mg estrogen to take in addition to my birth control to take for a couple weeks. I stopped bleeding, but as soon as I stopped the 1mg estrogen, I started spotting again. I can't seem to stop bleeding, and it's driving me crazy. I'm only 27, and I don't think it's normal to have to take bc AND estrogen to stop myself from spotting continuously.

Avatar f tn I am looking for a US birth control pill equivalent. I am from Australia and need a progesterone only micro pill. I have been on Microlut(30 µg levonorgestrel) for many years. Please recommend something that I can get in the US that is as close a match as possible. Thank you!
Avatar n tn I have been taking birth control since 1st of February to regulate my periods. The pill in question is Maxim (ethinyl estradiol 0.03mg and 2mg dienogest). For the first month it was OK, no side effects other then some loss of libido. After talking with doc about it he changed it to another one with levonorgestrel instead of dienogest.
Avatar n tn Due to the fact the gyno exams are very uncomfortable here - I have had to 'self-medicate' (here prescriptions are not required at pharmacies - therefore I simply asked for a 'nice birth control pill'... it seems this one is 'quick moving'. I started taking Triquilar 21 (Levonorgestrel and Ethinylstradiol Tablets I.P.) 3 months ago. I read all of the information about Triquilar on a website. I believe I got confused on taking it. The first month...
Avatar n tn Hi I'm a 24 year old that's been on birth control since the age of 19. I have been researching the cardiovascular effects of birth control and saw that it can raise c-reactive protein levels. How clinically significant is this? I know crp is a measure of inflammation in the body. So is increasing it's level going to actually cause inflammation? Or is it simply upregulated, and if so what are the consequences of that? I recently switched for alesse which has levonorgestrel.
Avatar f tn I was rapped on the 9th. I was given Levonorgestrel (emergency birth control) on the 9th. On the 13th I started to have some light spotting. Within a day or two the spotting turned into brown discharge. Since then I have mostly had the thick dark brown discharge with a little bit of red blood mixed in. I have had unprotected sex with my bf almost daily since the 19th.
1530342 tn?1405020090 Leading scientists say studies since then provide strong evidence that Plan B does not prevent implantation, and no proof that a newer type of pill, Ella, does. Some abortion opponents said they remain unconvinced. Long-term birth control methods work better than Pill After The Times asked about this issue, A.D.A.M., the firm that writes medical entries for the National Institutes of Health Web site, deleted passages suggesting emergency contraceptives could disrupt implantation.
Avatar f tn I had unprotected sex with my gf 1 day after her last menstrual bleeding, didn't ejaculate inside her, she had emergency contraceptive pill( levonorgestrel 1.5 mg) within 1 hr, she had vaginal bleeding after 4 days for one day...can she get pregnant?
Avatar n tn Dear rfrancis: The "plan b pill" uses levonorgestrel, a hormone used in birth control pills. It's safety in women with estrogen receptor positive breast cancer and its efficacy in combination with tamoxifen are unkown. You should discuss this with your physician.
Avatar n tn if you are already on birth control pills, why the devil did you use plan B? Even on the sugar pill row of your birth control, you're still protected, so why bother? That's sort of like using a nuke to kill a monkey with a plastic fork, isn't it?
Avatar f tn Plan-B is a very effective contraceptive pill which is used as a back-up or an emergency pill if you are not benefitted by the regular birth control method. This is also effective if you are in doubt whether you have used your regular contraceptives correctly or not. Plan-B or Levonorgestrel is a very widely used oral birth control medication and it comes under the classification of progestine. you can buy from chemist shop or online at Drugsdropship24.

Avatar f tn I'm 16 and me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex last tuesday night (Aug 30). He pulled out before his release and was sure that none got in my vagina (withdrawal method). I wasn't quite convinced and started taking "Lady" emergency contraceptive pill. It contains levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiole. It's my first time so I wanna ask if it's okay even if I start taking it even when I'm not on my period yet? I'm on the fourth pill tonight am I safe from pregnancy? Thank you.
Avatar m tn About 6 hours after the incident, we went to the local pharmacy and took one dose of the emergency pill( Levonelle-Levonorgestrel 1500 micrograms). Based on this what do you think are the risks of pregnancy? Since I didn't actually ejaculate inside her, and its the early part of her menstrual cycle when ovulation may not have happened, and she took the emergency pill within 6 hours, am I right in assuming that the risk of pregnancy is remote? Is there any statistics regarding this?
Avatar f tn Also you are only supposed to use plan b 2-3 times per year so if your not pregnant and want to continue to have sex best get on the pill or another reliable form of birth control. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn This does NOT impact your fertility or future of having a child but it is not good to use emergency contraception frequently. Better to use birth control. And, it is important to use birth control when you've taken plan b because when you ovulate again is hard to predict and it could be thrown off by the hormones--- so you don't want to risk pregnancy with unprotected sex.
Avatar f tn Plan B is a high dose of levonorgestrel, which is one of the synthetic progestins available in birth control pills. The "period" you get on the pill is actually bleeding caused by the withdrawal of the hormones during the inactive pill week, and not a true period you would get if you were ovulating normally. Plan B is known to cause menstrual irregularities after taking it, and my guess is that you're having withdrawal bleeding after that dose of hormones. Keep using condoms.
874116 tn?1240372559 My last LMP was the 10th March. I am a regular user of the ovral L birth control pill but was on a break for teh last 3-4 months to give my body a rest. Since then I was used the EC about four times. I used it in February twice in teh same cycle. The name is Ipill with the levonorgestrel hormone. I used it once mid cycle after my period last month and got pregnant. I really want to know if teh hormone can cause any potential harm to the baby.
Avatar f tn I have used normal birth control pills for 5 years but when I stopped taking them I felt so much better that I prefer not to use this type of birth control again. Now I have not taken birth control pills for 3 years and I feel more alive, more positive, and I lost a lot of weight, back to how I was before I ever used this pills. During ovulation I always feel so good, thats how I know if when I have my ovulation. Now this plan B reminds me of the effect synthetic hormones have on my body.

Avatar f tn I have been on Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol birth control pills for more than 1 year. My last period occured during 10th Sept 2012. I stopped taking the pills from the 5th day of the current period cycle. We had unprotected sex from the 12th day of the current menstrual period cycle.
