Avatar m tn When I visited the Urologist last week he said that he thinks I have prostatitis, so he prescribed 3 weeks of Levofloxacin and then another blood test. He thinks it is prostatitis because I have pain in the area beneath my testicles when I sit and have some trouble with steady urine flow. Since I received the PSA score I've done many hours of reading about prostate cancer and prostatitis.
Avatar m tn the symptoms disappeared but since my testicles still hurt I went to a urologist and gave me levofloxacin 500mgs. once a day for 2wks. I felt better alright but after i drank alcohol again i felt a pain in my lower back and some itching in my penis and a clear watery discharge although minimal. When I went back to my urologist, he said that im already cured and that he also said that maybe im just worrying too much.
Avatar m tn I had no signs or symptoms. 2 weeks after this I was diagnosed with Prostatitis and put on antibiotics (Levofloxacin). 3 weeks after encounter I tested negative for STD's. It is now 7 weeks after encounter and I am still battling the prostatitis. I guess I am having a hard time believing that I developed Prostatitis right after my sexual encounter and it has nothing to do with an STD. Would the fact I am on antibiotics at the time of my STD testing have produced a false negative?
Avatar f tn I also tested ejaculate and they found klebsiella pneumonia so i took levofloxacin (500mg daily), and now it s 6th day i started with levofloxacin. My symptoms are still present, i also feal pain sometimes in lower abdomen, simptoms come and go during day and i cant stand it anymore. What should i do, can this be because or iritation with hand antiseptic or klebsiola or some other bactery (hidden syphilis) or even virus (herpes, hpv...
190673 tn?1259203266 Treatment options for non bacterial prostatitis are trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin for 2 weeks, if condition improves treatment can be continued for about 4-6 weeks. Alpha blockers, finasteride, anti-inflammatory can be used. In case of no improvement then a check for physical abnormalities should be done and treatment for the same should be taken. Best.
Avatar m tn Hello, I had a relatively risky (protected vaginal, protected anal, unprotected oral sex) sexual encounter close to eight weeks ago. A couple days later, I felt a burning in the area of my urethra just behind my intreameatus -- and my intrameatus as well. Additionally, the area around the urethral opening of my penis was red. The redness and burning lessens when I do not ejaculate (up to now, this has been limited to masturbation). It increases immediately after I ejaculate.
Avatar m tn All STDs Negative, No Epididymitis, No Prostatitis. Urine and Semen culture normal. Urine Frequency is Normal. Scrotal ultrasound scanning revealed mild inguinal adenopathy (swelling). Urologist did physical examination and ruled out inguinal hernia. To convince me the urologists prescribed medicines like cipro, doxycycline, levofloxacin etc, but they never worked. I believe the mild inguinal adenopathy is causing all this constant pain for the last 2 years.
Avatar n tn What are my chances of getting HIV? I had prostatitis. The antibiotics (Levaquin 500mg) have made it better, but I still feel some discomfort, but not much. What are my risk at this point? Did my oral exposure ruin me? The lady who went down on me is a drug user. I haven’t seen her again. Do I need testing? This has been my only exposure in the past 6 months. I've developed no sores just a slight pain.
Avatar m tn The doxycycline made me very nauseous and caused me severe vomiting. I discontinued the use of it and was given levofloxacin. Meanwhile, the std swab tests came back negative. I didnt take the levofloxacin, because I wasn’t sure if I even needed it since I havent been properly diagnosed. I made an appointment with an actual Doctor. He physically checked my testicles, checked for hernia, seemed fine. I also had blood work and urinalysis done, results were good.
Avatar f tn About two weeks I went to urologist as I had both burning urine and ejaculation and felt perhaps I had prostatitis (as I had this in the past) or an STI. He subsequently ran a urine PCR tests, and everything came out negative for all STI’s except for HSV2 which came out positive. He did not run an HSV IGG or even IGM blood tests. What confused me more when I met him to discuss the results, he mentioned that I might have been exposed but not infected with the virus, which made no sense.
Avatar f tn He said he didn’t see anything wrong with my meatus and prescribed me levofloxacin for 8 weeks. After 8 weeks I did not notice that big of a difference so I took it for 12 weeks. Now I feel better than I have but my meatus is still raw on the left side, pain in my tip comes and goes, and the dysuria seems to be gone but I still burn in tip sometimes. I’m posting links of my pics of my meatus. My skin is rigid on the left side and hasn’t grown back. This has been going on for 5 months now.
Avatar n tn ive taken pain relievers so the pain subsided and I went to the hospital for examination, ultrasound and ct stonogram was conducted the result I got I have a enlarged prostate grade 2 kidneys are normal, so the urologist gives me treatment, levofloxacin 500mg/day for 14 days, after medication my prostate is still swelling because of poor urination, and the doctor given me a different antibiotic cefixime200mg/2xday for 1 week, after medication the stream of my urine is still poor.
Avatar n tn Of these, I would recommend that you not use ciprofloxacin ( a favorite for prostatitis therapy) but instead use a related drug such as levofloxacin which has better activity against chlamydia, just in case this is related to your recent chlamydial infection (I doubt that it is but if we can cover both bases, why not). Furthermore, given your history, it is possible that you may need to be treated more than once to resolve this problem.
Avatar m tn He told me that he thinks that I almost definitely do not have cancer and I have prostatitis. He prescribed the following medicine: Levofloxacin 500 mg, taken 1 times daily for one month. Meloxicam 15 mg, taken 1 time daily for 14 days Doxazosin 4 mg, taken every night once daily for I think 2 weeks. I'm basically healthy, other than having some short term memory problems and stress.
Avatar f tn Urologist gave me single dose of azithromicyn and since my simptoms were still present he gave me 10 days of levofloxacin. After a month a had test on all stds plus fungal swab, everything negative except hpv (genitype 56), and Streptococcus pneumoniae in prostate.
Avatar m tn Still had pains urologists then gave me metronidazole just in case, pain still lasted, went back to urologists and he gave me levofloxacin in case it was prostatitis, pain continued, I went and got tested for all 8 stds at the 2.5 month mark again all came back negative. My questions is what do I have, the pain started at the tip of my penis and left after the first test for a few weeks.
Avatar m tn I have had intermitent senses of fullness in the perineum since as well. I recieved 10 days of levofloxacin - and started to get better but then went back to before. I recieved three weeks of doxycycline to no effect. After two months I went to a private std clinic while on travel and had a battery of tests done including the 28 d HIV, urine g+c, urine hsv, syphilis, hep b and c. I had pain in the penis when recieving these tests.
Avatar f tn I have had treatments of doxycycline (30 days), metronidazole (10 days), levofloxacin (7 days), and most recently azithromycin (for pneumonia that they couldn’t detect, 6 days). It gets semi-better initially with the antibiotics, but always comes back. I’m still having issues, and I honestly feel like I’m going crazy. The doctors think I’m nuts, and they don’t know what else to do. I’m beginning to feel the same way...
Avatar n tn So, then, what is going on here? Well, although relatively rare, your progressive symptoms are compatible with prostatitis. While it used to be thought that much prostatitis was caused by STDs, that now appears to be only a minor contributor. Levofloxacin (Levaquin) is a good starting point for treatment. Sometimes, it takes several weeks of therapy to resolve. It sounds as though you are doing everything right. Congratulations. Continue to work with your urologist.
Avatar m tn He said that he was concerned about prostatitis, and he gave me a script for Levaquin (750mg for 3 days, then 500mg for the next 7 days). At my insistence he also did a BiostatHSV-2 test, which was negative. The question is whether I continue with this course. Levaquin scares me to death, and I am definitely feeling mentally spacey after just the first pill. I realize that there could be other causes of urethritis, like adenovirus. So I kind of feel like the Levaquin is premature.
