Levemir on formulary

Common Questions and Answers about Levemir on formulary

levemir

Avatar f tn I have trouble with levemir. I have been diabetic fro 12 years but found out his information about insulins. You need to know the onset and peak times. The article i read is Levemir onset is 3-4 hour after initial injection and then peaks at 6-8 hours after injection. I do not see a 24 hours effect when taking Levemir.
Avatar n tn The Levemir is NOT on a sliding scale. It is a given does once a day Or twice a day. 12 hours apart. is his 224 after eating or first thing in the morning before food or drink?
Avatar n tn m on novolog and levemir (levemir is just at bedtime).
Avatar n tn t help at all and it would still jam up on dosage knob so I now have the levemir lfex pen which is so similar to the novo log flex pen except the colors of both pens are different so you do not confuse the two insulins. I will finsih up on the lantus as not to waste it and then go on the levemir flex pen never having to worry about the problems I had with the Lantus Auto Pen which will be a thing of the past.
1353681 tn?1387083733 Hi, I have not used lantus, but I do use levemir. Both are medium acting basal insulins. Levemir works best injected twice a day. I inject just before going to bed (22 units), and when I wake up in the morning (8 units). As you can see, I don't use the same dose morning and evening, as I find I need more basal insulin at night when I am inactive, than during the day when I am active. You will need to adjust your dosage based on your target blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn I have recently changed to new insulin. I am now taking Levemir in the morning and at night taking Apidra. Since I have changed to this insulin my blood sugar is going upby alot. I was at 176 this morning and within a few hours it was at 296. This has never happened before and I have not changed anything in my eating. Why is it going up so much and how can I make this stop?

1981227 tn?1336328438 Hi All, It's been a while... not sure if theres anyone from a few years ago around. Sorry I've not been around but I've been doing great on Rebif, no attacks and feeling good. Apart from the Rebif side effects. The formulary issues with Rebif and Kaiser are finally catching up and my Dr is forcing me to switch to Extavia. I'm not happy and told her so, but seems I have no choice... :( So I guess I'm just looking for other Extavia takers, esp if you were an Ex-Rebifer.
Avatar f tn If you continue to be ill with symptoms that feel like the flu or vomiting, you need to go to the ER, because you could be suffering from DKA which happens from prolonged numbers that high and it can be very dangerous. Drinking water helps. Just keep working at getting it down and it should start to improve soon as you are back on the Levemir.
Avatar n tn NDC# 51167-100-01 or 02 (blister pack of by the bottle-168) Depending on you RX provider, you need to find out if it is in their formulary so the insurance can process it and find out your co-pay. Im on blue cross and they had it within a week on their formulary. Drug store has to order it. Riteaide said it retails for about $9200 a month (ouch!)...luckily my co-pay is only $70 a month.
Avatar n tn I have type 2 diabetes (2 yrs). My A1C is 7.6 I am presently using Levemir Flex Pen (22) before bed. I take synthroid for hypothyrodism (10 yrs) and recently started taking crestor for high cholesterol (which is now within normal range) I 58, female and over-weight. Question: I want to start taking 200 mcg of chromium picolinate to help with my diabetes. Is this safe to take with the medications I am currently taking? Also, when is the best time to take it.
Avatar f tn t giving him any the lantus people wants me on toujeo cause their patent was coming up so they stopped sampling it!!!! He offered me a levemir sample he said it had less weight gain than lantus and was the same., plus the levemir company still samples, I have been on this stuff for three weeks, I don't feel sluggish after taking it, I feel great, and the pen is nice!
Avatar f tn FYI For those on Medicare, Medicaid, etc - Does it have to be added to the "Formulary" of your insurance company?. Can anyone on Medicare, Medicaid, etc confirm coverage now? Who on Medicare, Medicaid, etc will get this expensive treatment? Will there be restrictions that only those who meet certain medical criteria will get it in the near term and others will have to wait? Will it cover off-label.use? The above is required before .panfoundation.org coverage.
Avatar n tn I am now on medicare and anthem blue cross will only provide me with a 30 day supply. The reason given is that oxymorphone HCL ER 7.5 MG TAB is not on their formulary. Without the insurance this medication cost $300.00. I take it 2 x a day and it is very addictive. I did think that we/they understood that using blue cross was an option only if this drug was covered. What to do?.... In continuing, it seems I've come to the wrong site.
1876457 tn?1322405589 Sarah, thanks for answering! I do have some good news to share with you. Shared Solutions does indeed accept Medicare. The hoops they jump through vary a little from standard insurances from my understanding. Basically they send an 'are you sure' letter to the neuro ofc asking if any other treatment is available to you.
315996 tn?1429054229 A friend in a government HCV organization received this outline of the treatment practices of several insurance companies. It seems to fit right in with what my doctor was saying. Based on your question related to navigating through insurance denial for HCV treatment access. I looked up Harvoni, Solvaldi and Viekira Pak using the fingertip formulary lookup tool http://www.fingertipformulary.com/home/ and checked on the coverage across three common insurance companies.
Avatar f tn You are a prime candidate to treat, at stage 3 you are only one stage before cirrhosis, you really should treat before that happens. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Metavir The Metavir scoring system was specially designed to evaluate the liver in people with HCV. The scoring consists of using a grading and a staging system.
Avatar f tn My doctor said he thought I had a virus. I could not figure out what was going on. I usually gave myself shots in the upper stomach area, so I moved the shots to my legs with no improvement. I even tried Levemir, but after two days the pains came back. I stopped all shots and the pain and other symptoms went away. Is there an insulin that doest not cause stomach pain, chills, and vomiting?
Avatar f tn butalbital is a barbiturate that is in the fiorcet formulary. There is a plain old butalbital formulary. And, similar to tylenol, a combination that contains various amounts of codeine in the pills. You want to stop taking the butalbital very slowly and over a decent period of time. Do not cold turkey a barbiturate medicine.
Avatar f tn Vicoden is one of many pain control meds thats active narcoric ingredient is hydrocodone - usually along with anywhere from 350-1000mg of acetaminophen depending upon which formulary is prescribed. Its not a toy and isnt much good for chronic pain as far as I am concerned........
