Levemir low albumin

Common Questions and Answers about Levemir low albumin

levemir

Avatar f tn and will stay high untill your body makes enough insulin or you inject FAST insulin. Taking levemir to counter eating will result in dangerously low BG (Hypoglycemia)! Insulin use is difficult to explain, you need to talk to an MD that knows how to administer Basal/Bolus insulin therapy. And or read the book "Using insulin by John Walsh" Levemir is used to regulate your fasting BG. and the fast insulin used to counter carbohydrate in the diet.
Avatar f tn Have your friend keep careful track of her sugar to make sure that it does not go to low. If she starts to notice low sugars she should call her doctor.
Avatar n tn Your basal insulin dose (levemir) appears too low, as your background blood sugar is always high. I would recommend that you work with your doctor to increase your levemir dose such that you can get your base blood sugar levels down to a more normal level. That may need to be done over a period of days to weeks. You may want to try splitting the levemir into 2 doses 12 hours apart as some people find this gives better coverage.
Avatar n tn I, too, had a lot of trouble with the Opticlick pen. It was just unreliable in that it would sometimes leak with injection so I never knew if I was getting the proper dosage. I switched to Levemir (flex pen) a couple of years ago, and it has been fine. Both Lantus and Levemir are the peakless insulins. They provide your "background coverage" all day long (24 hours). When you eat, you need the fast acting insulin like Novolog to act quickly to cover the meal.
Avatar n tn When I started using 2u Lantus in morning, 2 weeks ago, I'd go low in the late afternoon/early evening, and then my morning sugars would be elevated ... 140s, 150s. So I split the dose: I'm now using 1.5u Lantus AM & 1u Lantus PM. It definitely works better than 2u QD, and I've checked the middle of the night - not a problem. The drug sheet for Lantus doesn't mention BID dosing, but my internet articles do. What are your thoughts, and is Levemir better for BID dosing?
Avatar m tn I had a test done showing my albumin levels are a little low than normal. Can this be dangerous?? If so in what ways??
Avatar n tn The Levemir is NOT on a sliding scale. It is a given does once a day Or twice a day. 12 hours apart. is his 224 after eating or first thing in the morning before food or drink?
Avatar n tn m on novolog and levemir (levemir is just at bedtime).
Avatar n tn I have recently changed to new insulin. I am now taking Levemir in the morning and at night taking Apidra. Since I have changed to this insulin my blood sugar is going upby alot. I was at 176 this morning and within a few hours it was at 296. This has never happened before and I have not changed anything in my eating. Why is it going up so much and how can I make this stop?
Avatar n tn I have type 2 diabetes (2 yrs). My A1C is 7.6 I am presently using Levemir Flex Pen (22) before bed. I take synthroid for hypothyrodism (10 yrs) and recently started taking crestor for high cholesterol (which is now within normal range) I 58, female and over-weight. Question: I want to start taking 200 mcg of chromium picolinate to help with my diabetes. Is this safe to take with the medications I am currently taking? Also, when is the best time to take it.
1353681 tn?1387083733 Hi, I have not used lantus, but I do use levemir. Both are medium acting basal insulins. Levemir works best injected twice a day. I inject just before going to bed (22 units), and when I wake up in the morning (8 units). As you can see, I don't use the same dose morning and evening, as I find I need more basal insulin at night when I am inactive, than during the day when I am active. You will need to adjust your dosage based on your target blood sugar levels.

Avatar n tn What does it mean to have low protein, calcium, albumin and alkaline phosphatase test results?
Avatar m tn In your case, chances of autoimmune disease are more as other blood tests are normal. The only other finding is low folate. Low levels can be due poor intake of folic acid rich food (green leafy vegetables, yellow fruits, avocado, beans, lentils, cauliflower etc) or due to malabsorption syndromes (IBS, tropical sprue, Crohn’s, celiac etc) or due to eating disorders causing malnutrition. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please consult your doctor regarding this.
Avatar f tn High levels of globulin can be caused by an overproduction of globulin, an underproduction of albumin or a loss of albumin. Albumin can be lost due to kidney disorders which lead to an excessive amount of protein being shed from the body. Besides liver and other diseases If you consume a high carb or high protein diet that is not being monitored, it can cause the body's retention of protein to suffer, which can also lead to an altered globulin ratio.
Avatar f tn Usually any of these conditions will cause a rise in CSF albumin. So, if there is low CSF albumin, it means the plasma albumin is likely to be pretty low. Low plasma albumin can be the result of malabsorption syndromes, Celiac disease, chronic hepatitris B or C, non alcoholic hepatitis, hemochromatosis, Wilson’s disease, autoimmune hepatitis, and alpha 1 antitrypsin enzyme deficiency. Hence all tests to rule these out should be done.
Avatar f tn Hyperthyroidism ruled out. Owner noticed lethargy and bloodtests revealed falling HCT 18% and moderately low Albumin. Anaemia though not as low previosly had resolved when pancreatitis treated-likewise albumin. Elevated GGT also noted in bloodtest the same week. Renal levels, though still within range also elevated since last tests. Some protein loss in urine though contained blood so difficult to say how accurate. Cat also blind due to retinal detachment.
Avatar f tn I am an insulin dependant diabetic. I was out of Levemir for several days and I tried to control with Novolog. Wednesday and Thursday I was running over 600. Yesterday I got my Levemir and started taking it right away. It took most of the day to get down to 350. I was feeling real sick all day. Sleepy, dizzy, nauseous. muscle weakness. I slept from 6:00 pm until 10:00 am. My numbers were up to 500 again. I got them back to 300 by 3:00 pm, but have continued to feel just as sick.
Avatar n tn Well, without knowing the relevant clinical details or a detailed clinical evaluation, it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include stress/ anxiety, low blood sugar, micronutrient deficiencies, neuropathy, hormonal/ endocrine abnormalities, infections, inflammations etc.
