Levemir is a basle insulin, meaning it works for 24 hours. Like a background insulin. the amount of Levemir taken has nothing to do with the amount of carbohydrates (carbs) you eat. That type of insulin is called a bolis insulin, like Apedra, Novalog... that insulin is taken according to how many carbs are eating and YOUR particular carb to insulin ratio.
It was working well for a year. Then blood was becoming high, Doctor gave me LEVEMIR. If I take 10 units of humalog, after two hours sugar drops 4 points, I think this is the right dose for humalog for what I eat. I eat 60 gram Carb every meal. But 3 hours, sugar tries to go low, but insead, it bounces back and proceede to values and I start to feel hypo, though I never see sugar 9. It is not hypo value, why sugar bounces up, why feel shaky, fear etc. I use LEVIMIR as base insulin.
If you believe your are reacting badly to Lantus (or any other medications) you should ask your physician for an alternative, at least to verify it is the medication and not some other factor that is causing the problem. Lantus is popular for it's 24 hour action, but so is Levemir (Novo Nordisk). NPH insulin can also be used for long acting insulin, though two injections may be needed to get the 24 hour coverage.
The Levemir is NOT on a sliding scale. It is a given does once a day Or twice a day. 12 hours apart.

It was just unreliable in that it would sometimes leak with injection so I never knew if I was getting the proper dosage. I switched to Levemir (flex pen) a couple of years ago, and it has been fine. Both Lantus and Levemir are the peakless insulins. They provide your "background coverage" all day long (24 hours). When you eat, you need the fast acting insulin like Novolog to act quickly to cover the meal. For some, Lantus and Levemir act the same.
However, you may find that your fasting blood sugar becomes higher due to the dawn rise now being at the end of the lantus action. Alternatively, talk to you dr about using levemir. This is dosed morning and night and the dose can be different for morning and evening to target optimal blood sugars. There is also a new insulin called Tresiba. Many find that this gives very stable blood sugars with less risk of lows. You may also discuss this with your Dr.
I am an insulin dependant diabetic. I was out of Levemir for several days and I tried to control with Novolog. Wednesday and Thursday I was running over 600. Yesterday I got my Levemir and started taking it right away. It took most of the day to get down to 350. I was feeling real sick all day. Sleepy, dizzy, nauseous. muscle weakness. I slept from 6:00 pm until 10:00 am. My numbers were up to 500 again. I got them back to 300 by 3:00 pm, but have continued to feel just as sick.
Shortness of breath is called Dyspnea. A Google search returned this page showing Victoza causing Dyspnea.

t know the length of infection, the single dose will not be enough and we should follow the CDC recommendation of 1 dose every week for 3 weeks for a syphilis diagnoses of unknown length of time. Should I request the second dose of penicillin in addition to the blood test for titer level tomorrow? Or is the course of action they are suggesting ok?
Are you saying stress has impacted your weight and that is impacting your diabetes? I'm under a lot of stress currently too and am eating myself out of house and home. Sigh. Stress eating is real. My goal is to work on the stress as well as my health. Well, they are tied together, so . . . anyway, I'm sorry that you have 'one more thing'. You wrote this end of October. How is it going now?
It was working so well for me previously. I went to a new endo about a year ago, and he suggested I try Levemir instead of the Lantus. Once I started the Levemir, I noticed a marked improvement with more consistent bg levels. I am a Type 1 diagnosed at 33, and I am 10 years into the disease. I take sliding Humalog and 12 U Levemir at bed. I hope this helps.
Here's a puzzling one. I was recently on a flight from the UK to Mauritius (12 hour flight). After eating a usual sized meal, and having injected my usual Novo Rapid dose pre-meal, I watched a movie and then at 11pm time of origin injected levemir as I would usually do before bed. As I injected, however, there was a very unusual reaction on the skin (in a usual injection site). The site turned very red and then spread to a short area around the injection site.
How long is your LP (luteal phase)? If it's below 12 days then shorter cycles may be a problem. Also, I heard someone mention on this forum that if you O too early you may be releasing the egg that's not yet mature. So, it's not the length of your cycle that's important but rather the timing of ovulation. If you O in the middle you are OK and your LP should be around 12 days. Otherwise, your LP may be too short or you O too early.

Triple medication treatment of Interferon, Ribavirin, and a Protease Inhibitor (either Teleprvir or Boceprevir) are now the standard of care for treatment of Genotype 1. The length of treatment depends on your past response to treatment.
I am not sure in which country you live and if the new protease inhibitors are available where you live. If they are available then it would be important to discuss treating with the triple medication regimen with your doctor.
