Avatar m tn As drug like Levaquin has more fatal side effects I think its better you switch off to other broad spectrum antibiotics like said above.Stop using Levaquin now.Its not that long that you have severe adverse effects,so better change the prescription.Use salt water gargles to relieve symptoms of Strep throat.Get a better medication like Cepahlosporins.
Avatar f tn Levaquin a a pretty strong broad spectrum antibiotic. I was told it was effective against staff also, when I had a cut on my leg that wasn't healing. There is an article on webmd about leep and side effects. Type leep in the webmd search engine.
Avatar f tn I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Avatar n tn re describing is the classic presentation. It is probably a urethral pain syndrome in the spectrum of painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis. It seems for you that passing a scope, ie dilating the urethra, helps relieve the pain. Other patients find that instrumenting the urethra makes the pain worse. One thing that must be ruled out is a urethral diverticulum, a pocket below the urethra in the wall of the vagina that collects urine and causes burning.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been suffering from urinary tract infections for about the last two and a half years. It got to the point where I was having a huge flare up every two months. Every time I got a culture, the results would come back and they said that there was a small amount of bacteria in my urine, but the culture itself was negative. I just went to a new urologist, and he had me give a sample and take it to the lab in the same building as his office for a culture.
Avatar n tn The antibiotics apparently have not provided effective treatment. Levaquin is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections of the skin. If the swelling has not receeded, it may be necessary for your doctor to perform a needle aspiration to determine the contents of this cyst.
Avatar f tn Nothing helped except my dad sent me a broad spectrum antibiotics which were herbal and then the pain started to go down almost immediately. I was blown away. I unfortunately was left with a severe yeast infection of itchy crawlings skin that looks almost always inflamed and a leaky gut. From the levaquin, Bactrim etc. which I’m still dealing with to this day ;( no hope for that as whenever I eat sugar or alcohol my skin will crawl.
Avatar f tn I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar f tn I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage. Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects??? I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

Avatar f tn t even believe it was a kidney infection. So, to treat this infection, they put me on levaquin. Mind you that levaquin should not be used by a young adult, such as myself. I was put on a heavy dosage for a little over a month and suddenly began getting odd symptoms such as a knee swelling to to the size of a melon.
Avatar f tn Your family Dr probably does not have alot of experience with this in her practice. My guess is that you were on a broad spectrum antibiotic before this started like Augmentin, Cipro, Levaquin, etc..
Avatar m tn I was given many antibiotics and last time I was given broad spectrum antibiotics. Crixan 500mg, Levofloxacin 500mg. Since then pain in lymph nodes little bit decreased. My head feels still the same, almost like drunk. Problem is, that I moved to Thailand and health care works here on demand. I HAD TO ask for blood tests. I HAD TO ask for broad spectrum antibiotics. If I don't demand anything else, I will be given same antibiotics.
Avatar m tn The urologist prescribed me Levaquin for 30 days and gave me a Toradol shot as an anti-inflammatory for my inflamed urethra. Is there anything else I should test for? Should I request the culture to be longer? Is there anything I've missed? I will continue to post and share my treatment to share with everyone here. For everyone out there reading, I would like to say that you are not alone and that you have my support along with everyone in this community.
Avatar n tn No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago). Any ideas about what is going on? thanks so much.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
Avatar n tn I came home that day washed very well and started drinking a lot of fluids. I ended up starting to take antibiotics as well. I had a prescription for Levaquin 500 mg pills. I have 20 days worth. Will that kill anything that I could have contracted?
Avatar n tn I've been on 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days and I'm having difficulty breathing. Not all the time at times it's just hard to catch my breath without doing anything too physical. Has anyone else had this side effect?
Avatar m tn Was Levaquin knowing as a cause of Achilles tendon rupture before September/2006?
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
Avatar m tn Again the symptoms receded but again they returned. This time my doctor prescribed Levaquin (7 days x 500 mg) and 1 shot of Ceftriaxone. I was re-tested for Chlamydia and don't have the results yet. I read scary reports of serious side effects of Levaquin. It's potent but has risks which is why it's given only as a second line of defense. I'm nervous about taking it and I'm wondering if there are effective alternatives to this.
Avatar f tn Hello about 3 months ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an upper respirtory infection. Well I did experience the normal side effects listed online but then started getted ringing in my ears. I only had a few days left of the medication and didn't realize the ringing wouldn't go away since the doctor told me it was due to an ear infection. I have been off balance and have had visual problems and anxiety of not feeling right sometimes through the day.
Avatar f tn My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days. I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?
