Actually I was exercising w/ a personal trainer the day I started the medicine. Life has never been the same. Please google Levaquin and you will see there are thousands of others just like you. Most doctors will refuse to even acknowledge the issue. There have now been 65000 complaints to the FDA on cipro and levaquin.
Hello about 3 months ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an upper respirtory infection. Well I did experience the normal side effects listed online but then started getted ringing in my ears. I only had a few days left of the medication and didn't realize the ringing wouldn't go away since the doctor told me it was due to an ear infection.
I have been off balance and have had visual problems and anxiety of not feeling right sometimes through the day.
Had an UTI and hence was put on levaquin. After the 8th day of taking levaquin, i had the problem of not able to swallow food.. Stopped levaquin and UTI went away. Since then, i had a feeling that something is stuck in throat and particularly at nites, i was not able to sleep properly. had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that..
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

I was on Levaquin (along with normal diabetes and high cholesterol medicines) and I woke up and had big bags under my eyes, a sandy feeling to my skin there and a pronounced red line under each bag that looked like someone had slit it with a razor blade. Despite stopping the Levaquin, it has persisted for a number of days. Can you provide an explanation of what is happening?
Levaquin-Levofloxacin,though it is an antibiotic,has some common adverse effects on CNS as it passes the blood brain barrier.Headache, dizziness, and restlessness are among the commonest effects on the CNS. Others include tremor, drowsiness, insomnia, nightmares, and visual and other sensory disturbances ,tinnitus, Mal de Debarquement Syndrome etc.
Generally these reactions subside when the drug is completely metabolized and eliminated from the body. There is nothing much to be worried.
Yes, it is possible to get joint pains, dizziness, fever, sore throat, blisters etc from Levaquin. However the half life of drug is 6-8 hours. Considering that the total drug elimination would need 4-5 half lives, this drug should be out of system in about 40 hours. If still the symptoms are persisting, you would need to go to the doctor. Maybe initially you had UTI or some other infection which got worse after this drug.
Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
Handsfield I understand that Chlamydia is not transmitted orally so my fears were primarily GC since the Levaquin is a fluoroquinolone. After the Avelox, Flagy and 4 days of the Levaquin I resumed sex with my partner. She had the Bladder infection not long after that and was treated with Nitofuran, Flagyl, 750 mg per day x 6 days and Levaquin, 500 mg per day for 6 days...at the same time I was still on the Levaquin...
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
I just finished my first ever course of Levaquin (6 doses} I now have moderately severe pain in both calves and
have marked difficulty walking because of the pain. I am an 89 year old retired physician. The drug information
I have found mentions tendon pain and tendon rupture, but does not mention muscular pain.. Should I be concerned or can I safely treat the pain with rest, leg elevation , and prayer?
I came home that day washed very well and started drinking a lot of fluids. I ended up starting to take antibiotics as well. I had a prescription for Levaquin 500 mg pills. I have 20 days worth. Will that kill anything that I could have contracted?
I know this is a guessing game since there is not much research or data dedicated to the cure of this weird but annoying respiratory disorder. I have tried levaquin (long term) it helps for the moment but it comes right back when I stop using the antibiotic. I started having complications using levaquin so I stopped and told my ENT i will never use it again unless it is absolutely necessary.
I've been on 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days and I'm having difficulty breathing. Not all the time at times it's just hard to catch my breath without doing anything too physical. Has anyone else had this side effect?
My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
Here's what happened. I met up with a couple (gay) that I know. We messed around (all three of us) for a bit, then one left to go to sleep, leaving just two of us. My friend used a dildo on me, one of which he uses on his boyfriend. He did wash it, though I am not sure how, I just know that water was used, unsure if soap was.
Again the symptoms receded but again they returned. This time my doctor prescribed Levaquin (7 days x 500 mg) and 1 shot of Ceftriaxone. I was re-tested for Chlamydia and don't have the results yet.
I read scary reports of serious side effects of Levaquin. It's potent but has risks which is why it's given only as a second line of defense. I'm nervous about taking it and I'm wondering if there are effective alternatives to this.
