has anyone had bad side effects from useing aniniotics such as levaquin? i started haveing severe symptoms a few days after i started takeing them such as sore joints muscle pain dizzyness extreme fatigue an weakness..
She had a severe allergic reaction to levaquin back in september, but recent rash did not begin until feb. She was taking macrobid for kidney infection in jan. but rash did not begin until feb. she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.
I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
m slowly testing different foods to see what the reaction is - I never had any food allergies prior to Levaquin. It could just be coincidental timing or a combination of symptoms from Levaquin that just happen to end around the time I try something different, but it's definitely been a long ride. This has changed my life. 3 years will have gone by this August 2013 - that's how long its taken to get me this far.
no rash, no discharges, no fever, no lymph node swelling, etc. I went to the doctor who suggested it could be a bacterial infection, and prescribed me Levaquin. I got tested for every potential STD: HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis, etc. Now, let's say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously).
I woke up one morning with looked like insect/mosquito bites on BOTH of my arms right above my wrists. Over the next few days it turned to a rash that spread up my arms to my elbows, stopped mid elbow, jumped up to my neck, and now i have the little bumps that come before this rash on my upper chest and mid inside thigh. The bumps happen first, then the rash follows. Doc took a look at the rash and said "looks like its poison ivy" and gave me prednasone and levaquin yesterday.
I felt the difference, too, with Levaquin. I guess the question is do your feet hurt in general, or is the pain specifically in your achilles heel? It is the tendons that are at risk from Levaquin, with achilles and arms being the two most likely places (as my PA and doc have seen in their experience). But they said any tendon pain is a sign to stop. I don't think tingling is from Levaquin. That sounds like a Lyme symptom.
Did you try Rifampin?
He has had 4 pneumonias in 8 weeks since everytime he has first put on Levaquin. We just got home, he got his first oral treatment of Levaquin, 500 on Friday, This time as any other, first 24 hours he is mostly unresponsive. Then regains. I went to get the prescription and got a 5 page warning letter. My husband at 5'10 "is barely 130 lbs. First time coming to the hospital his potassium level was 3.3. Last admission only 3.1 that was raised to 3,7 in the hospital by intravenius.
I went back on Keflex (I took it as a preventative measure for two weeks after surgery) as well as Levaquin. They still did not heal. Eventually my surgeon did a debridement and stiched things back up. The stiches were kept in for two weeks. The stiches are now out, everything is well healed but I am still on Levaquin for at least the next few days. What is odd is that the cultures from the debridement came back with nothing. Nothing grew at all.
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

I am a married man and fell in my marriage. About two weeks later we notice wife had a rash on both thighs and both shoulders. Took her to doctor and they gave her a cream and the cream cleared it up. Wife has no pain in groin and the family doctor ask her also did she feel pain in groin. Wife said no.
I went to follow up with a urologist because of my pain in groin. He told me I had prostatist and put me on levaquin 500mg. for a month and two weeks.

Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
I came home that day washed very well and started drinking a lot of fluids. I ended up starting to take antibiotics as well. I had a prescription for Levaquin 500 mg pills. I have 20 days worth. Will that kill anything that I could have contracted?
He prescribed me Levaquin and Flomax but i had a bad reaction to Levaquin after just 5-7 days on it (Rash on one shoulder and weak knees).....After coming off the Levaquin my Prostate seemed to be more sensative and i was more Gassy.and more inflamed.
I experienced pain in my underarm Lympnodes and an increase in stomach gas...
i return to the urologist and he tells me...i have Chronic Prostatitis TYPE II and III.....he does not tell me what i should expect with this diagnosis..
