levaquin

483814 tn?1214311480 I am very hush hush about the hep c. When I answered that I did not have any liver problems he gave me 5 days worth of Levaquin. I don't know however if I should take it. He told me that levaquin was not the ideal antibiotic to treat the condition however it was all that we had samples of . My nose hurts really bad and I am considering taking the levaquin.
Avatar n tn It depends on where the joint pain is. Joint pain in the area of your ribs, chest or back might be normal if you are coughing a lot. Some medications can cause joint pain as well. Probably best to check in with your primary doc, they may want to check some blood work.
Avatar n tn I took two doses of 500 MG Levaquin on consecutive days, then stopped. Now a week later I still have tingling in my hands and arms. Peripheral Neuropathy is a rare adverse reaction to quinolones. I have reported this to the FDA and to McNeil. The waring statement says (may be reversible if treated in time). Another just says irreversible. The 2004 warning from the FDA states: "{the drug} should be discontinued if the patient experiences symptoms of neuropathy . . .
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, the side-effects of Levaquin and other quinolones such as Cipro can last for months or longer. I took Cipro 6 months ago and I'm still experiencing full body tendonitis, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness, tingling and burning sensations, stabbing pains, and more. The insomnia went away after about 6 weeks for me. I am a 36 year old female, and was very active and physically fit. There are some great forums you can check out on Yahoo that will be helpful to you.
Avatar m tn Both Cipro and Levaquin are drugs of a class known as quinolones. Of the two Cipro has the least side effects. The sore muscles may last for weeks or months or you may feel better in a few days. With that class of drugs there are ocasional reports of permanent tendon damage. This does not mean they should not be used. It is a matter of risk and benefit.
Avatar f tn I have read that Steroids should not be taken by people whom have been floxed by Quinolones. Do you know anything about this? The doctors do not want to admit or agree that floxing is caused by the Quinolones even though the prescription sheet from the pharmacy states so. I am absolutely sure that it is in my case. My symptoms started 8 years ago when I was improperly diagnosed with carpal tunnel. Since then I have been given Cipro and Levaquin for sinus infections.
Avatar f tn Your body is known to hypersensitive to quinolones to which levaquin belongs to. Tussionex contains hydrocodone which may also be responsible. But it is difficult to tell, which one is the offending drug. The spectrum of these reactions can vary widely; reactions may present as typical allergic symptoms (eg, itching, urticaria, rash, edema) after a single dose, or may manifest as breathlessness due to bronchospasm.
Avatar m tn allmy dr told me was that certin quinolones do give false positives. my med was biaxin xl 500mg. but that was all he would tell me. he seemed to be really busy. now i need to find out if that is one of the 13 quinolones. if you can assist me further please do so. or advize me where to search. thanks .
Avatar m tn I will tell any doctor I ever see to put Levaquin and other quinolones as an allergy on my record, if I can even build up enough trust to see a doctor again.
Avatar m tn I am suffering from debilitating tendon pain in many joints. I am inclined to accredit this as a side effect of Levaquin, but none of the doctors I've seen have agreed with this, though they also have not offered any other explanation. Please find my story below: I am a 25 year old male. I have been an avid weight lifter for about 5 years, and a regular rock climber for about 1 year.
Avatar f tn Now my pulse goes over 100 bpm every time I stand up. Since Cipro and levaquin are both quinolones, I think that there is definitely a connection.
Avatar f tn Yep, some can. Amoxicillin can cause a positive for cocaine, Quinolones (like Cipro) can cause a positive for amitriptyline and opiates, A couple other less common antibiotic classes can cause positives too. Did this happen to you?
Avatar f tn I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar f tn I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage. Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects??? I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

Avatar m tn Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
Avatar n tn No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago). Any ideas about what is going on? thanks so much.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.

Avatar n tn I came home that day washed very well and started drinking a lot of fluids. I ended up starting to take antibiotics as well. I had a prescription for Levaquin 500 mg pills. I have 20 days worth. Will that kill anything that I could have contracted?
Avatar n tn I've been on 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days and I'm having difficulty breathing. Not all the time at times it's just hard to catch my breath without doing anything too physical. Has anyone else had this side effect?
Avatar f tn It could be due to the harboring of the bacteria within the urinary tract resulting in recurrent UTI. This could be in the kidney or the urinary bladder. Quinolones like ciprofloxacin are one of the good drugs for the E. Coli but nowadays increasing incidence of resistance has been shown with the use of quinolones and in fact one of the older antibiotics like septran has been found to be quite useful for these bacteria.
Avatar m tn Was Levaquin knowing as a cause of Achilles tendon rupture before September/2006?
