Hello, I am on Levaquin for a sinus infection and I just found out that my sexual partner had gonnorhea. And I was wondering if the Levaquin would take care of the gonnorhea if I had it.
I was in Rio this past week and received oral sex from a "dancer". I've had NGU in the past and feel like it could be a possibility now. I am married so you can imagine my concern. There is no discharge or burning. Frequent urination today is my first symptom. My question is: Will Levaquin take care of NGU? I have 750 mg prescription from a doctor for sinus? How long would I have to take it? I also have 500 mg prescription of Clarithromycin as well.
ive had encounters with same woman again with unprotected oral and have similar symptoms of ngu. It was oral only. At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort.
also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days.
Had mutual oral with another man (cim). I started with sore tongue and itchy anus within a week. All STD tests have been negative, and treated for yeast with no relief. Presently on Doxocycline and Levaquin, this has been ongoing for 4 months. My Dr.s are stumped, any help?

From Dr. Hook and Dr. Handsfield I understand that Chlamydia is not transmitted orally so my fears were primarily GC since the Levaquin is a fluoroquinolone. After the Avelox, Flagy and 4 days of the Levaquin I resumed sex with my partner.
My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).

About 2 days after oral sex she went to Dr. with a sore throat. I looked at throat and it was 2 red bumps with white center. Will the antibiotics take care of naything I could have contracted when she performed oral sex on me. Also, the day after the oral sex i had unprotected intercourse with another female partner. Could that female partner be infected the day after i had the oral sex performed on me by the other female? Should she be treated too? I had a swab test performed last week while I was taking the zithromizin and will get the results this coming wednesday. Will this swab test be accurate?
I performed oral sex on a female sex worker for about 10 seconds. I thought this was very low risk. Then two days later I experienced some burning when I urinated. It only did it once but it scared me so I found some old antibiotics. I took 1 gm of cefuroxime axetil once and 100 mg of doxycycline twice a day for 6 days. At this point I had two small white dots on the skin of my penis, but no pain or bump. I then took 6 days of levaquin. I was tested for all stds at 25 days.
I received unprotected oral on 10/2/10. On 10/18 started having mild burning and very frequent urination. 10/19 started having a little dischard from penis. Went to the Dr on 10/21, sent me for a urine test, but he prescripbed levaquin 500mg /day for 7 days because symtoms sounded like gonorrhea or chlamydia. Have now taken two of the levaquins, and the discharge has stopped, still some burning upon urniation, but have developed a dribble of urine after voiding.
About a month ago I began having symptoms of Prostatis several days after receiving oral sex from a girl. I have had the same exact symptoms twice in the past after a sexual encounter, every time I became very nervous afterward (I cheated and got nervous about std's clamydia/gonorhea). I was actually broke up with my girlfriend this time but got back together shortly after I received the oral sex and are still together. We had unprotected sex before I started having the symptoms.
many viruses even you can transmit to the urogenital tract. takes time and they go away on their own.
we always recommend protected sexual contact - even though the risk from oral is fairly low, what is "normal" bacteria in the oral area, isn't always so normal in the urogenital tract.
Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.
Levaquin-Levofloxacin,though it is an antibiotic,has some common adverse effects on CNS as it passes the blood brain barrier.Headache, dizziness, and restlessness are among the commonest effects on the CNS. Others include tremor, drowsiness, insomnia, nightmares, and visual and other sensory disturbances ,tinnitus, Mal de Debarquement Syndrome etc.
Generally these reactions subside when the drug is completely metabolized and eliminated from the body. There is nothing much to be worried.
It was protected (condom) vaginal sex. I performed oral on her briefly. I received unproteced oral for about 15 seconds. About 5 days after this, I got a cold sore on my lip. I have had cold sores in the past and have tested positive for HPV in the past (never did they type test so I am not sure if I ever had HPV II; I know I have HPVI because of the history of cold sores). The cold sore was a bit unusual.
I'm driving myself nuts over here thinking I have herpes. I find myself looking it up on all these websites, where it says you may have the virus and not even know it. I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

I tested at 4 1/2 weeks with oral quick it was negative. I know that isn't conclusive but in one week I have developed a very sore throat. Can I be hiv postitive after one week of testing? My risk was a condom breaking during sex.
I had unprotected oral sex from a sex worker 2 weeks ago. We used a condom for sex and it did not break. I had no symptom and was on Levaquin 500mg for 2 days prior and 3 days after for a seperate nasal infection.
When I came home, I had sex with my wife. She developed a yeast infection
Could that have been from me?
As an aside, she had also been on antibiotics a week earlier for similar nasal infections
