Avatar f tn It will cure chlamydia, not gonorrhea.
Avatar f tn t start the Levaquin until February, so it might not be related. My liver is fine as are my achilles heels...at least so far. I started on Rifampin, which is a good choice for Bart. But my stomach pain was very stubborn and I got mild heartburn from it. After treatments with a PrevPac for h.pylori and Xifaxin for parasites, I felt better, but the ache & chronic tenderness still held me back.
Avatar f tn Levaquin 750 paired with Flagyl 500 (3x daily) seemed to be working but I had a very bad reaction to the Levaquin and had to be taken off it. I am so desperate to get better, please if anyone can offer any suggestions I'd be so grateful.
Avatar f tn I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage. Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects??? I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

Avatar f tn I do not have a lyme dx but I am working with my neurologist on it...I am also looking for an LLMD in my area. I am sure that I will have no trouble finding one near Philadelphia. I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects.
Avatar f tn I am so glad I found this... I am on Levaquin and Rifampin which are working really well for me...However, When I herx...and these are worse then any Lyme or babesia. A bartonella herx just stinks. I thought I was through the rough part of the herx (5 days) but my joints, my feet are not "bouncing" back. The strongest pain killer I can take is Tylenol. I have tried intermittent wet heat packs with no luck.
2109342 tn?1380908975 Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and to Lyme. I've been doing so well on Levaquin for 30 days. Infact, I've been feeling great! Last week, I began having pain in joints and neck. I know Levaquin can cause this, but so can Lyme. I'm not sure if I should stop taking the Levaquin now, wait and call my doctor on Monday, or try something else first? My doctor is not a Lyme doctor.
Avatar m tn Do not take Levaquin for a sore throat. The drug is a class called fluoroquinalones, and the side effects may include anything from aches and pains for months to tendon rupture. If a fluoroquinalone is prescribed Cipro has far fewer side effects.
414333 tn?1226191493 so cipro should not be taking if you have anxiety will it in crease it . i know levaquin will i went down that road but have too cipro many times and it seems ok but scared to take any after the levaquin deal thanks and glad to see you still poping in.
Avatar m tn Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with epdidymitis, octilis (sp), and prostatis. The doctor said my prostate felt a little infected. I've noticed some obvious red spots in my stool the last couple of times. Blood? Simutaneously, my left scrotum is sore and swollen for 1.5 weeks. I've been treating it with ice, ibuprofen, levaquin, and loratab for several days. Not really sure if the medicine's working after 3 days. May not be enough time. 38 years old, active, good shape.
Avatar n tn My husband is a quite healthy 55 year old. He is slightly overweight but not excessively so. He has no other neurological symptoms except for a one week history of bilateral great toe numbness that waxes and wanes. He looked at his shoes and none of them seem to have toe boxes that are too narrow. No family history of diabetes. No family history of similar bilateral great toe numbness.
Avatar n tn I've been on 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days and I'm having difficulty breathing. Not all the time at times it's just hard to catch my breath without doing anything too physical. Has anyone else had this side effect?
Avatar n tn Levaquin might not be good for a cold, say. I was on it for two years for crazy infections bc I was unknowingly living in a home with mold. Yes it caused tendon swelling and pain but I’m glad to be alive without pneumonia MMRSA and MMR!
Avatar f tn Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now). In looking at the drug interaction information, it seems that those who are taking the corticosteriods, are even more at risk for muscle rupture and more at risk for developing pneumonia.
Avatar f tn Tinnitus and the being off balance are two different symptoms. One is not causing the other. Have you read the side effects from Levaquin? There are quite alot, and I believe this drug has been "black boxed" in the USA. However, I am not so sure this caused your problems or your problems are unrelated to the Levaquin.
Avatar m tn What do you think?? I have been assured by 2 Dr.'s that this is not gonorrhea and that the symptoms would show up within a few days if you contracted it...despite what the web sites say about asymptomatic infection. They said that it is an obvious discharge and horrible burning in a male within 2-5 days. This has no burning during urination and no discharge...just irritation at the end opening. Is it also true that in 90% of the country Levaquin is still used for GC?
Avatar n tn I recently had a stool analysis test, ordered by a natrualpath, which revealed aeromonas caviae as a pathogen, and told me to take 21 days ofLevaquin, 500 mg 2 x daily. My internal Dr. and GI Dr. said aeromonas caviae is not a pathogen, and the test was "hocus pocus." I do not know whom to believe. I took 7 days of Levaquin and did feel better.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
Avatar m tn Again the symptoms receded but again they returned. This time my doctor prescribed Levaquin (7 days x 500 mg) and 1 shot of Ceftriaxone. I was re-tested for Chlamydia and don't have the results yet. I read scary reports of serious side effects of Levaquin. It's potent but has risks which is why it's given only as a second line of defense. I'm nervous about taking it and I'm wondering if there are effective alternatives to this.
