After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.
Good to see his symptoms improving. It could a side effect of levaquin, as this can cause swelling and pain in the joints, this is more so if he is prone for joint/tendon problems such as tendonitis and bursitis. It should resolve once the medication is stopped. Discuss these symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medication.

I took Levaquin, last winter to treat a bad URI. I remember having major brain fog and had to stop taking it. While at the pharmacy I forgot my address and phone number. Not typical of a thirty four year old healthy male.Later that day my legs went completely numb and I could not get the feeling back for ten minutes.
The last few months I have had balance issues, vestibular problems, weak muscles, sore neck, back and head.
t have a dentist I could just call to start antibiotics and am in extreme pain, even down into my neck and up from my cheek. I have a ping pong sized knot of swelling about the tooth, my jaw line and cheek. Is this something one could go to the ER for, or should I wait to see a dentist? Please advise..
Levaquin-Levofloxacin,though it is an antibiotic,has some common adverse effects on CNS as it passes the blood brain barrier.Headache, dizziness, and restlessness are among the commonest effects on the CNS. Others include tremor, drowsiness, insomnia, nightmares, and visual and other sensory disturbances ,tinnitus, Mal de Debarquement Syndrome etc.
Generally these reactions subside when the drug is completely metabolized and eliminated from the body. There is nothing much to be worried.
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I was treated anyway with levaquin because i was exposed to strep, but culture came back neg. I cleared up and everything was fine for a few weeks until I noticed one day that I still had a little swelling and one spot of pus on my left tonsil, but not really any pain. I went back to doctor and went on another cycle of levaquin. The swelling still remained and the spot remained too, until I took a Q tip and wiped it away myself (lol gross, but it was bothering me).
My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
I went bake to them and switched me to Doxicyclin but I still have week knees, my arms jerk, pain in my neck and pretty much all of my muscles at any given time! I want to know why the medical community does not have to take FIVE MINUTES with a patient to go over medication?? I am now looking at a long recovery and do not have insurance to help with it. The medical community needs to be held accountable along with the drug company!!!
ve been on Levaquin twice. Ugh!!! I have severe joint pain and fatigue both times. I have a really high pain tolerance and was allergic to my other options at the time, so I toughed out the 10 days both times. I don't recommend that and my doctor has promised to figure out an alternative for future infections. The first time, the serious fatigue and joint pain lasted about 3 weeks total (including the 10 days). The second time it was about 5 weeks.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

Couple months ago I had unprotected sex. Two weeks later I had pain in my uretha between my anus and testicles. When I would sit in car for long time it would be more painful. I went to the doctors they had me pee in cup, nothing came up. At this time there was no pain in the penis. The doctor said it probally Prostatitis, so they put me on smz-tmp antibiotic for couple weeks. During this time pain got worse, into my testicles and burning in my penis.
for the past 3-4 months now I have been having on and off again pain. The pain seems to feel like a dull ache and seems to be coming from my left testicle/groin area. I went to see a urologist; physical examination was normal, rectal examination was normal, and ultrasound showed no abnormalities/masses/swelling. I was on Levaquin for 7 days/500mg and this has not really helped. I am not really sure what to do now. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks a lot.
I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!!

After 5 doses of Levaquin, I had neck pain all the time and neck stiffness after I started Levaquin which made me feel somekind of dizzy and offbalance. I thought it might be a side affect of Levaquin.
I went back to Urologist after 10 days , he said the inflammation is gone and pushed my prostate and there wss some discharge.He prescibed Bactrim for 10 days, Day 2 of bactrim I got a severe sore throat.
I was on levofloxacin (Levaquin) for my Bart, and I had to stop after six weeks when I developed pain in my left achilles heel. I was disappointed as my anxiety pretty much disappeared on it. Levaquin is known to cause tendon rupture, especially in the achilles tendons, even weeks or months after a person stops taking the drug.
They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.
after taking Levaquin 500 mg for 2 days I had a sudden onset of stiffness at inner rt thigh. after 1 hr could not put any weight on rt leg. numb spots bilateral calves. I stopped Levaquin and contacted my dr. who changed the antibiotic and told me to take motrin for the inflammation and explained that tendon rupture was rare on Levaquin. This is day 4 I'm walking with a slight limp due to stiffness inner thigh and weight bearing.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

I don't think Levaquin can be used to treat bacterial STD's (though I could be mistaken).
Doxycycline (100 mg 2x per day for 7 days) can be used to treat effectively all sexually transmitted bacterial infections (Syphilis as well, but it would require 2 weeks on that treatment).
But I don't think this is STD related.
This could easily be due to something else.
I had a similar problem which lasted several weeks while I was in London.
On the 9th or 10th day of the Levaquin, I started to experience severe pain in both biceps, along the inside of my elbows. I also had less severe pain in my shoulders, forearms, and the bottom of my elbows (the tennis elbow region). I was doing a lot of rock climbing at the time, so I credited the rock climbing as the cause of the tendinitis, and resolved to take some time off.
