Is it weird to have prolonged pain that shoots up to the bottom of the ribcage and down to the knee, followed by superficial numbness spread around the body for at least an hour (and even longer in the genital region) after ejaculation?
After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.
but my symptoms were not gone, after a month i felt abit better but symptoms were urethral pain, testicular pain, knee and ankle pain, dry cough and itchy lungs, extreme pressure in head above ears, headache, fatigue. all stds and cultures came negative even after 5 months except semen culture which showed staphylococcus aureus resistant to almost all antibiotics except vancomycin.
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Now have finished 2 yrs on daily antibiotic (minocycline and levaquin). Was doing well but have very unsightly and widespread blackening of skin, which does not clear up I believe my darkened cataracts developed as my skin blackened, and that this blackening residue is possibly in all my organs.
Have recently dropped back to single minocycline/day (100 mg) but believe cysts may already be redeveloping.

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
ve been on Levaquin twice. Ugh!!! I have severe joint pain and fatigue both times. I have a really high pain tolerance and was allergic to my other options at the time, so I toughed out the 10 days both times. I don't recommend that and my doctor has promised to figure out an alternative for future infections. The first time, the serious fatigue and joint pain lasted about 3 weeks total (including the 10 days). The second time it was about 5 weeks.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

Couple months ago I had unprotected sex. Two weeks later I had pain in my uretha between my anus and testicles. When I would sit in car for long time it would be more painful. I went to the doctors they had me pee in cup, nothing came up. At this time there was no pain in the penis. The doctor said it probally Prostatitis, so they put me on smz-tmp antibiotic for couple weeks. During this time pain got worse, into my testicles and burning in my penis.
for the past 3-4 months now I have been having on and off again pain. The pain seems to feel like a dull ache and seems to be coming from my left testicle/groin area. I went to see a urologist; physical examination was normal, rectal examination was normal, and ultrasound showed no abnormalities/masses/swelling. I was on Levaquin for 7 days/500mg and this has not really helped. I am not really sure what to do now. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks a lot.
t even believe it was a kidney infection. So, to treat this infection, they put me on levaquin. Mind you that levaquin should not be used by a young adult, such as myself. I was put on a heavy dosage for a little over a month and suddenly began getting odd symptoms such as a knee swelling to to the size of a melon.
Good to see his symptoms improving. It could a side effect of levaquin, as this can cause swelling and pain in the joints, this is more so if he is prone for joint/tendon problems such as tendonitis and bursitis. It should resolve once the medication is stopped. Discuss these symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medication.

I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!!

I was on levofloxacin (Levaquin) for my Bart, and I had to stop after six weeks when I developed pain in my left achilles heel. I was disappointed as my anxiety pretty much disappeared on it. Levaquin is known to cause tendon rupture, especially in the achilles tendons, even weeks or months after a person stops taking the drug.
I keep having blood pressure spikes, hot flashes, and night sweats. I also have excessive sweating under the arms, the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet. My normal blood pressure is about 110/60 and when it spikes it is about 160/100. I get a bad headache and I feel like my face is on fire. I have devoloped brown spots on my forehead. I feel tired all the time and I have no appetite. I have lost 23 pounds in the last 2 months. I don't know what is causing all of this.
They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.
after taking Levaquin 500 mg for 2 days I had a sudden onset of stiffness at inner rt thigh. after 1 hr could not put any weight on rt leg. numb spots bilateral calves. I stopped Levaquin and contacted my dr. who changed the antibiotic and told me to take motrin for the inflammation and explained that tendon rupture was rare on Levaquin. This is day 4 I'm walking with a slight limp due to stiffness inner thigh and weight bearing.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Thank you for the reply. I still have some questions though. What about the validity of the first 2 std tests? I was on amoxicilin for the first one and had just finished 7days worth when I took the second test.
Also, the timing of sex and symptoms are just right. How could I have gone 5.5 weeks w/out any symptoms, and then 2.5 weeks after I resume sex w/ wife I feel symptoms?
Around the end of the prednisone taper, I developed the knee, shoulder, and achilles tendon pain which I described above.
When I relayed these new symptoms to my orthopedist, he sent me to a rheumatoligst. Blood tests were negative for rhemuatolgical conditions and a bone scan was normal. The rheumatolgist tried treatment with NSAIDs: about 2 weeks of Aleve, a brief stint on Voltaren (discontinued due to stomach pain), and about 6 weeks of Mobic.
On the 9th or 10th day of the Levaquin, I started to experience severe pain in both biceps, along the inside of my elbows. I also had less severe pain in my shoulders, forearms, and the bottom of my elbows (the tennis elbow region). I was doing a lot of rock climbing at the time, so I credited the rock climbing as the cause of the tendinitis, and resolved to take some time off.
