has anyone had bad side effects from useing aniniotics such as levaquin? i started haveing severe symptoms a few days after i started takeing them such as sore joints muscle pain dizzyness extreme fatigue an weakness..
I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
I have slight raised swelling around the opening of my penis that seems to flare up after oral and vaginal sex. I have recently been treated for epididymitis with Levaquin and had been on Doxycycline for acne for two months prior to this. I do not have any discharge and I have not had any frequent urination problems either. There is occasional itching at the opening that comes and goes. Does this sound like Chlamydia or Gon? Is there any other cause for this?
I recently had unprotected sex and about 12 hours later developed urethral pain/itching and mucosal irritation(purple discoloration)
I took Azithromycin 2G, and then Flagyl 2G.
My symptoms persisted and I then took Doxycycline 100mg BID x 7 days, followed by Levaquin 400mg daily for 7 days.
All this was due to persistent symptoms.
I think I have treated GU, as well as NGU, but I still have the same symptoms after 3 weeks
Any ideas?
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

Urgency to urinate, burning, itching and tenderness of the testicles and even itching in my rectum. One day of discharge thus far. It started out mild and was treated for a urinary tract infection. It seemed to help for a bit but never got better.
I made an appointment with a urologist, explained my situation, and he started me on Levaquin for prostatitus. And, he has also re-tested me for STDs. It's important to note that I am involved in a monogamous relationship.
A few weeks after the encounter, the tip of my penis turned red around the meatus. There was no discomfort, no burning, itching or discharge. I saw a physician and told him about the encounter and he was not too concerned because my urine came back clean. Over the next few weeks I had some issues with starting and stopping of my urine stream when I was voiding. I went into a urologist and was diagnosed with potential prostatitis and was put on a 4 week course of bactrim.
About a week later I had symptoms of irritation in my penis (it hurt too) - which worsened over time, then came the burning sensation and itching at the tip of the penis occassionaly. Have abdominal pain too, I also had dribbling when I was done urinating, left my boxers all wet with urine, most recently my testicles seem very tender.
I went to a walk-in clinic (I thought it was a UTI) that's what I told the Dr.

I woke up one morning with looked like insect/mosquito bites on BOTH of my arms right above my wrists. Over the next few days it turned to a rash that spread up my arms to my elbows, stopped mid elbow, jumped up to my neck, and now i have the little bumps that come before this rash on my upper chest and mid inside thigh. The bumps happen first, then the rash follows. Doc took a look at the rash and said "looks like its poison ivy" and gave me prednasone and levaquin yesterday.
Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
I came home that day washed very well and started drinking a lot of fluids. I ended up starting to take antibiotics as well. I had a prescription for Levaquin 500 mg pills. I have 20 days worth. Will that kill anything that I could have contracted?
GP 1st sends me for 2nd urinalysis and then prescribes me Levaquin 500mg tablet (1 a day for 8 days). 2nd Uranalysis sample given before i start Levaquin.
-- Feb 13, GP tells me 2nd Urinalysis results are perfect but to continue Levaquin cycle anyway.
-- Feb 16, Believing i am ok, i.e - neg test results, no symptoms, and that i had used protection, I had unprotected intercourse with my GF.
I've been on 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days and I'm having difficulty breathing. Not all the time at times it's just hard to catch my breath without doing anything too physical. Has anyone else had this side effect?
My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
Again the symptoms receded but again they returned. This time my doctor prescribed Levaquin (7 days x 500 mg) and 1 shot of Ceftriaxone. I was re-tested for Chlamydia and don't have the results yet.
I read scary reports of serious side effects of Levaquin. It's potent but has risks which is why it's given only as a second line of defense. I'm nervous about taking it and I'm wondering if there are effective alternatives to this.
