Cipro for 2 weeks still in pain. Then switched to Levaquin for 10 days. While still on the cipro I began to feel mild muscle aches. After 4 days of Levaquin my muscle aches and joint pain increased. I stopped the pill doc's orders

I have never had sex before period. Im concerned because they didnt test for herpes. Is there a possibility I have herpes even though theres no visible sores what so ever. Should I go get tested. Or is this just anxiety thats really bothering me.
I went to the doctor who suggested it could be a bacterial infection, and prescribed me Levaquin. I got tested for every potential STD: HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis, etc. Now, let's say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose.
Not only is oral HSV-2 rare, when it happens it almost always is in association with a simultaneous first infection with genital HSV-2. Since you have had no symptoms of genital herpes, your oral herpes surely is HSV-1.
I don't understand the treatment with levofloxacin (Levaquin). That drug is totally ineffective against HSV.
GP 1st sends me for 2nd urinalysis and then prescribes me Levaquin 500mg tablet (1 a day for 8 days). 2nd Uranalysis sample given before i start Levaquin.
-- Feb 13, GP tells me 2nd Urinalysis results are perfect but to continue Levaquin cycle anyway.
-- Feb 16, Believing i am ok, i.e - neg test results, no symptoms, and that i had used protection, I had unprotected intercourse with my GF.
I had Levaquin 500 mg which I had been given for prostitis a few months back. I took one of these for seven days. I also took 2g of tablet form Zithromax, in one dose, the day after I ended the Levaquin. Yesterday (two days after the Zithromax), while I was urinating, I noticed a white thick discharge in the toilet. When I squeezed my penis, some more milky discarge came out. It looked like a small pile of semen in the toilet.

Having used a condom, there is little or no chance of urethral herpes (or any other STD) from the vaginal sex. However, please clarify the oral exposure: "I gave unprotected oral" implies oral contact with your partner's vaginal area. But if you mean oral exposure to your penis, then there was potential risk for herpes or gonorrhea, either of which could cause the symptoms you have described.
Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you would like to focus my comments on herpes, and I will do that. Your risk of herpes from these exposures is low. If you get cold sores (HSV-1), you have no meaningful risk of herpes from receipt of oral sex. further, In the absence of lesions in your partners and with the fact the you have not developed sores, there is little likelihood that you acquired herpes. I would not worry and see no need for testing.
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

The cough has only seemed to gotten worse over time and they have now prescribed me 500mg levaquin with the same diagnosis. I have no redness, bumps, rash, etc. Is there any chance that these symptoms are related to an oral STD. There was no fluid exchanged so maybe that helps some. Should I have anything to worry about? Should I go get a complete STD test done at a clinic? Please help me as I am concerned.
t necessary to run blood work - clearly bacterial infection developed - put me on Levaquin. Still sick. Put me on Keflex/Levaquin, combined-no labs-said he didn't want to run a big bill of lab testing (no insurance). 2nd day of Keflex/Levaquin, fever dropped, but severe shakes, incredibly sick. Went to ER b/c felt awful. Bloodwork normal. ER Dr. said shouldn't have been on antibiotics -stop. Stopped after 1 wk Levaquin & 2 days Keflex. My dr.
Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.

m slowly testing different foods to see what the reaction is - I never had any food allergies prior to Levaquin. It could just be coincidental timing or a combination of symptoms from Levaquin that just happen to end around the time I try something different, but it's definitely been a long ride. This has changed my life. 3 years will have gone by this August 2013 - that's how long its taken to get me this far.
it seems to be going away now but i cant tell if its the antibiotics or a primary herpes mild reaction subsiding. I have tested negative for herpes 1 and 2. then i tested positive for 1. then negative again for both. over the last 5 weeks my doctor has told me that i have a yeast infection(changed his mind) then epididymitis with levaquin as my treatment. ive been on it for about a month now. anybody have any ideas because im exhausted and frustrated.
I have seen several doctors and they have prescribed all kinds of antibiotics including penicillin shots, doxy, Augmentin, diflucan, flagyl, bactrim, levaquin and yet i am still suffering from this problem. The first time I had this, i had penicillin shots and cipro and used some some cream, for some reason it went away after aa few weeks surprisingly I felt relieve. A few days after I felt the releieve, I had sex with my wife and everything was fine.

Oct 31 - Unprotected vaginal sex
12 days post-exposure - terrible irrition in penis, possibly some fatigue before this.
16 days post-exposure - genitals flush red all over
17 days post-exposure - dark red bumps clustered on red irritated skin appears on penis shaft. Test positive for chlamydia and take 1G Azithromycin. Also have diarrhea, low back pain, and very sore lymph nodes in groin.
He said with this brief contact, the only thing I have to be concerned about is chlamydia, gonorrhea, and herpes. He put me on a 4 pack of some anibiotics(1 DOSE). I had diarrhea right after I took the medication and was worried I didnt receive the full dose. 2 weeks later,I had symptoms, It itched a little after I urinated and some mild itching in the urethra. I went back to him and he did a urine test. He didnt ask me if a if i urinated lately or gave me any directions.

Went to doctor ,did tests for syphilis and HIV .Didn't test for clamydia and gonorrhea as my doctor told clymydia is very rare here in my place and gonorrhea has visible symptoms .Had azithromycin course
