I was prescribed six 500mg Levaquin tablets to treat Strep Throat and a potential sinus infection. I only took 4 of the 6 pills since the side effects were getting to much to handle. I started on 3/12/2010 to 3/15/2010.
Here were the side effects:
-nausea
-no appetite
-headaches
-dizziness
-diarrhea
-anxiety attacks
-confusion, like you don't feel like yourself
After I stopped taking it, my nausea and appetite returned gradually in the following two days.
Will swab of throat test positive for gonorrhoeae if she has been on Leviquin for 3 days? Is Dr. checking for strep and would not test for gonorrhoeae since I didn't tell her? Do the improved symptoms mean she is cured? We have both been on antibiotics for 6 days now with no sex. Are we contagious? Should we be tested before resuming sex? How long do we wait? Can I stop the Doxy because I didn't have Chlamydia? Thanks, your forum is very educational.
I was treated anyway with levaquin because i was exposed to strep, but culture came back neg. I cleared up and everything was fine for a few weeks until I noticed one day that I still had a little swelling and one spot of pus on my left tonsil, but not really any pain. I went back to doctor and went on another cycle of levaquin. The swelling still remained and the spot remained too, until I took a Q tip and wiped it away myself (lol gross, but it was bothering me).
This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred. Also taking Pepsid. Throat neg for strep and mouth ulcers neg for Herpes. This helped for about 3 days but then the pain has come back. I have also gotten a few more ulcers to my tongue and some of my gums are swollen. I have lost 9 pounds since the start of this b/c of the pain to eat.
I had Levaquin 500 mg which I had been given for prostitis a few months back. I took one of these for seven days. I also took 2g of tablet form Zithromax, in one dose, the day after I ended the Levaquin. Yesterday (two days after the Zithromax), while I was urinating, I noticed a white thick discharge in the toilet. When I squeezed my penis, some more milky discarge came out. It looked like a small pile of semen in the toilet.

I went to the dr where they took a throat culture and determined it was Strep but not A, C, or G. I took amoxacillian for 7 days and it seemed to help. During this time however, after sleeping with my partner I started to experience burning at the end of urination. My OB did a chlymidia and ghonerrea test that came back negative and my urine was clean (no UTI) My doc did prescribe azythromycin that took away the burning when urinating.

Im a college athlete who has been feeling ill since around St. Patty's day. It started with a sore throat and swollen glands in my neck but no fever. It has progressed to a headache with severe dizziness which was thought to be a form of viral meningitis, fatigue, constant elevated liver enzymes, slight hypothyroid that I have to take synthroid for, and some joint pain.
In July I felt a bit sick. saw dr and they placed me on amoxiclave for sinis infection. Gets better for about 2 weeks then comes back. I see dr again and another round of antibiotics. still not getting better so I see my ENT dr and he says I need surged after CT scan. ENT said to clear up what I have going on take 14 days of predisone and 14 days of amoxiclave. That was on 9/4/15. By 9/14 I was still really bad. but rather then sore face and headaches I had sore throat. coughing.
About 10 days later I developed a sore throat and it looked like blisters as those similar to strep throat. I went to the doctor and she said it was allergies and the drainage down the back of my throat. I have never had a sore throat last this long. Could it be gonorrhea of the throat or acute hiv symptoms? I have had some fatigue, but it seems to come from anxiety over this. She checked my lymph nodes and said they were fine. Any help would be appreciated. The strep test was negative.
I was told that I probably had strep throat although I was never tested for anything. The doctor said I should just rest and the z-pack should clear everything up. It did not.
I never really recovered from this and continued to feel sick. I went to a different doctor around the first-second week of Dec 2009 and I was given steroids. I took all of the pills without missing a beat and felt GREAT! Two days after I had finished the pack (Christmas 2009) I was right back to where I started.

Another symptom that I am thinking is related is that I have gotten a severe area of inflamation around my anus. Does hemorrhoids cause this??
Labs for ANA,B12,CBC,BMP,LFTs were all normal. CRP was 3.
t respond to the drugs that they usually give you for strep throat. So it is possible that you could have it. That is my professional opinion as a clinical microbiologist The only other thing is are your lymph nodes swollen? Could these be what you feel when you swallow? You may have had the original strep throat and then your lymph nodes swelled and that is hat you feel? That with some residual pain from the sore throat? I don't know how bad your throat feels.
I have have seen a ENT who believed it wasnt somthing with my ears, nose, or throat, also an Endocrinologist who believed my im not truely hypothyroid. I have been tested for strep, mono, cmv, hepatitus, lymes, std's like clamydia/gonohrea and hiv, also have had extensive liver testing with gastro. All came back negative. I have taken a z-pack which did not help, also levaquin which did help for a bit while i was on it. Im very frustrated and looking for a second opinion.
m beginning to believe that I might of had some sort of flu virus as well as sinus infection that became strep throat over time. Which I guess makes sense, except again for the rash that came after my symptoms of everything was clear. If it was a rash from strep then it would of came with the strep symptoms of shortly after.
I promptly went to my doctor for help, and he felt it was either chlamydia or gonorrhea, so he started me on antibiotics (Levaquin) and Naxproxen for swelling. I am awaiting the results of the tests. I seem to be getting better, which is good, but my main question is this:
The day _before_ I went to the doctor (the day before I noticed the brown material in the ejaculate), my wife and I kissed a few times, then she performed oral sex on me for approximately five minutes.
Had an UTI and hence was put on levaquin. After the 8th day of taking levaquin, i had the problem of not able to swallow food.. Stopped levaquin and UTI went away. Since then, i had a feeling that something is stuck in throat and particularly at nites, i was not able to sleep properly. had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that..
Tingling in my fingers and toes, burning feelings throughout, etc. I was pretty much tested for everything including - influenza, strep throat, mono, B-12 deficiency, HIV, etc...all NEGATIVE! So, of course I was worried thinking about HIV ars and what not so I got tested again at 13 months via rapid test and it was NEGATIVE as well. The only exposure I could think of was 3 weeks before my illness making out with a stripper in las vegas...not smart i'm sure.
I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
My brother and mom had a sore throat for a while and it went away, a little over a month ago i caught it, too. It started out as a sore, internal pain on one side of my throat when i swallowed. That went away in a week or two, since then, it has been switching between being dry or having a lot of mucus (not creamy, green, or infected-looking mucus). I like exercising, but the dryness is causing me to have trouble breathing. The doctor told my brother that it was not mono and not strep.
