Is there anything else that I can do in treating the pseudomonas. I wake up every morning full of congestion in my chest and cough for about 2 hrs in the morning and then through out the day. It is a productive cough.

My dad is 81 and has chronic pseudomonas infection in his lungs. He also has COPD. This is his 4th round of getting this infection in 3 years. He just got out of the hospital from a 5 day stay 3 weeks ago and did a 10 day pick line antibiotic. His Dr called today and he still has the infection. They are calling it a 4+ pseudomonas infection. (whatever that means). He has done every antibiotic there is (pill form, nebulizer, inhalers and pick line) for this and nothing is working anymore.
I've been hospitalized five times since the end of January. 2016 for recurrent Sepsis. The offending bacteria include E. Choli, Enterococcus, and others that live happily in the bowel. Admissions have ranged from 4 to 9 days. After the 4th admission, doctors said they didn't know what the underlying problem was, and suggested I might have better luck at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
After two visits to Mayo in MN, where nothing was found, I was admitted the 5th time back home.
Thank you for responding. The urologist just guessed at prostatitis and gave me levaquin which I have taken for 14 days and no results. I'm currently on my last Zithromax and still nothing has cleared. Is there any lab other than urology that can test for ureaplasma? M. genitallium came back negative about a week ago. The health dept. cleared me from having any other STD's. I would assume if I'm feeling a urethra burn it would be transmittable?
My wife has had chronic sinus infections for years. She was recently advised that a culture shows that pseudomonas bacteria is the culprit this time. However, she was also advised that she is allergic to all of the antibiotics used to kill the bacteria. Any suggestions?

same problem over here,now im going for 4th surgery wish will open all sinuses and then going for heawy treatman with antibiotics..in your and any ones case test your self with long specialist for lung cistyse fibrosis as thei cause lung infections and polyps together with pseudomonas bacterie..only adequate ventilation+antibiotics can remove theis bacterie from body,nothing else...in case of lung cistyse fibrisys =sorry no cure...

t want to battle with my doctor (who is a huge advocate of levaquin), but it seems that levaquin is not the right direction for me (I am allergic to penicillin), even if I were to develop pneumonia, which, with the corticosteroids, is also an increasing possibility. Do you have any further insight on this for me? Thanks for your help.
I am 45 yrs old and developed acute redness,pain, swelling, and a large hard area on my left breast. I had a temp of 101.3,headache etc but was being treated for the flu. So, I am not sure if the temp was from the flu or breast infection.
I saw a surgeon ( who has done 2 benign breast biopsies on the left breast in the past) who did an ultrasound. It showed a large area of inflammation but no specific pocket of infection and 2 cysts that I did not know I had.
I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
t work - you will also need 3 injections of Rocephin - 3 days in a row, as this is the drug of choice for pseudomonas. As for not getting your ear wet - you can make a mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol - equal parts and put 3-4 drops your ear(s) after getting water in the ears and this will kill the bacteria. I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I was on Levaquin for 10 days for a sinus infection. Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
Recently, I discovered that I have had pseudomonas aeruginosa in my lungs for 9 years. I had thought that I had had this for 2-3 years. It has caused pneumonia that has been difficult to get rid of. I have been a patient at your facility in January, 2009, but no treatment was given to get rid of my pseudomonas. I really want this to be cured and know there has to be a way to cure it, even if it is a clinical trial. I am a 56 year old female.
I am in in the Air Force and have been deployed to the Middle East for about 4.5 months. I contracted what the doctors seem to think is Athlete's Foot about 3 months ago and have been recieving treatment that started out as Lotrimin cream, then Ketoconazole cream, Anti Fungal Powders, and now I have been on Diflucian (oral anti fungal) for the past 9 weeks.

This thread says that levaquin is active against both chlamydia and gonorrhea. But the original post is from 2005. It's five years later and I'm wondering if your advice has changed. I understand that gono has grown resistant to this type of antibiotic treatment but was really wondering if levaquin will have any effect on gonorrhea. Now...in 2010.
I have ALWAUS been very healthy, until this sinus/ear/pseudomonas crap! The Infectious Desease Dr. Ran test on me for mono/ HIV-1 & HIV-2, among many other tests ALL of the blood work came bsvk neg. As of today I had another culture extracted in office to send to the lab, my sinuses are still inflamed and I am starting ANOTHER round of steroids to help. And at least get me thru until next week when I go back to my ENT to see what the results of the culture are.
different trich infection than the std infection. trichomonas in a trach is not the same as trichomoniasis , the std.
if you are washing your hands after caring for this patient , you really aren't at risk for pseudomonas or trichomonas from their trach. If their trach secretions tend to fly out a lot, make sure you are using goggles when suctioning them. Same with it also helps protect you from mrsa too.
