levaquin

Avatar m tn Yes, I've left a message for my doctor asking for an alternative. I'm waiting for is reply.
Avatar m tn was prescribed levaquin 500mg for 7 days.
Avatar f tn t want to battle with my doctor (who is a huge advocate of levaquin), but it seems that levaquin is not the right direction for me (I am allergic to penicillin), even if I were to develop pneumonia, which, with the corticosteroids, is also an increasing possibility. Do you have any further insight on this for me? Thanks for your help.

Avatar f tn I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Avatar m tn I was in a malaria-prone country two weeks ago when I feel ill. Given my many mosquito bites, I self-diagnosed myself as having malaria. I did not have flu-symptoms per se (as I have had the flu before and I did not feel the same), but I would feel very hot one moment, and then cold the next. I did not have painful urination. I attributed my swollen nodes to the frequency of sex i was having in the days leading up to my illness.
Avatar f tn You might just have West Nile which is very very common in Canada..see a doctor as soon as possible!
Avatar m tn I I would go to the doctor and get a complete blood count, a blood test for malaria, thryoid test and fasting blood sugar and hemoglobin A 1 C, and a skin test or Xray (if you had the BCG vaccine) for TB, unless you can only afford to do a few tests then just check for the TB and the Malaria to start with.
Avatar f tn I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar f tn I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar m tn I had levaquin for three separate infections at the same time -- had no problems other than complete and utter exhaustion -- hope you all feel better Jeanne
Avatar m tn I was on Levaquin for 10 days for a sinus infection. Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
Avatar n tn Not sure that Dr Handsfield will answer but will try anyway as related to this thread. This thread says that levaquin is active against both chlamydia and gonorrhea. But the original post is from 2005. It's five years later and I'm wondering if your advice has changed. I understand that gono has grown resistant to this type of antibiotic treatment but was really wondering if levaquin will have any effect on gonorrhea. Now...in 2010.
Avatar n tn Umm malaria is a parasitic disease you actually should be in hospital.. its very bad! You can get it from mosquito bites. Are you sure you have malaria? Also go to doc for pain and fever relife because we aren't doctors so we don't know how you react to things.
Avatar m tn Do not take Levaquin for a sore throat. The drug is a class called fluoroquinalones, and the side effects may include anything from aches and pains for months to tendon rupture. If a fluoroquinalone is prescribed Cipro has far fewer side effects.
Avatar m tn He lived a great long life, but I was wondering if Malaria is a different term for Lyme or am I way off base! Still sometimes clueless about some things, but I try to learn as much as I can.
Avatar f tn She also has a headache around the same time as the mild fever and a brain mri revealed acute chronic sinusitis (for which the 2 week course of Levaquin was initially taken) as well as white spots on the mri indicative of migraine. She never had migraine in the past. She is under 35. CBC's (3 have been taken) show a steady improvement in the haemoglobin (and other factors) though they are still below normal. The doctors say things are moving in the right direction there.
Avatar m tn Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
Avatar f tn Hi and sorry you are ill. Are you in the U.S. now or what country do you reside in? So you don't know if they did a smear for malaria or what. I think you should try to get a PCR test for malaria. Maybe if you can see an infectious disease specialist that would be best. Have you been swimming, wading or washing in fresh water? If not that is good. You should also get a stool sample done a few times for parasites. You could have several things at once.
Avatar n tn Agreed, that since you live in an area with near tropical climate, malaria is a possibility. For a fever that has been persisting for some time testing for PUO makes sense as this runs a wide battery of tests to cover all possible causes. Without examining your wife I cannot really comment. I can only advice that in a condition like hers it will be wiser to broaden the search for a possible cause than narrow it down to just malaria or Lyme’s.
Avatar n tn No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago). Any ideas about what is going on? thanks so much.
7020911 tn?1387293423 I did hiv- 1/2 test using assay buffer for malaria and Hiv-1/2 determine the result was negative and the control line was faint, I therefore did another test using hiv-1/2 determine and assay buffer for malaria to another person who I know is hiv positive and it reacted, again the lines were faint now my worry is? Why were the lines faint?, was the results accurate?
Avatar n tn Does anyone have experience on malaria prevention for Hepatitis B patients? I want to go on a safari in East Africa, but I'm concerned about how anti-malarial pills such as Malarone and Doxy interact with the Hepatitis B virus. I have chronic Hep B and my levels are high enough that I've been prescribed Viread. Malarone and Doxy seem to be related to causing some sort of liver damage...
Avatar n tn I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.
