00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?

s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?

Had an UTI and hence was put on levaquin. After the 8th day of taking levaquin, i had the problem of not able to swallow food.. Stopped levaquin and UTI went away. , i go crazy, no sleep. shake in side and out , my heart beats so fast was so tired but there was no sleeping , when i finally did sleep had night terrors when i take steroids. i now only take them when it;s steroids or die. they also give me zanax and that helps. be careful and taper off the way the doctor wrote the scrip and call him or her and let them know ur side affects.

Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.

I was on Levaquin (along with normal diabetes and high cholesterol medicines) and I woke up and had big bags under my eyes, a sandy feeling to my skin there and a pronounced red line under each bag that looked like someone had slit it with a razor blade. yes i can tell you i will never take levaquin again either , i have took the 500 lots of times but i took the 750 and 4 hours after i took it , my body went crazy i was having panic attacks one after another and could not sleep for 24 hours until it got out of my body, if you google this drug you will see so many who have had problems with it , its not a good drug but i took many times for a uti, no more for me, the 750 was way to much and now i will not take the 500 after that, yes i belive it

You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.

Teak and anyone else, I have had nausea and last night experienced a racing feeling that woke me up from my sleep. I was only able to sleep an hour at a time due to this feeling. Could this feeling be my bodies inflammatory response to the ARS which is making me feel uneasy/racing? has this ever been documented as a symptom or is the inflammatory response one more of fever and gland swelling vs a racing feeling.

Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.

I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.

I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.

I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!

I went in to my new doctor the next day (the pain had already started to go away before I saw him) and he called it epididymitis as well. He perscribed Levaquin for a week and I felt fine after that. I ended up traveling to Ecuador and became ill with some sort of food poisoning during the last 2 or 3 days of my antibiotics cycle. The food poisoning passed I thought and I had sex with my girlfriend.

At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort. also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days. i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.

I went back to doctor and went on another cycle of levaquin. The swelling still remained and the spot remained too, until I took a Q tip and wiped it away myself (lol gross, but it was bothering me). I was prescribed six 500mg Levaquin tablets to treat Strep Throat and a potential sinus infection. I only took 4 of the 6 pills since the side effects were getting to much to handle. The levaquin has had very minimal impact overall and I wish he’d given me more cipro and a longer cycle. Has anyone had a similar case where you relapses quickly? If so, were you given a new med and did that work? Were you given the same med? Any other ideas or insights would be helpful.

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.

Went back after 2 weeks and the dr said the bladder infection was gone, but I had to keep on with the Levaquin as I was showing signs of pneumonia and he took another blood test. On the 3rd week of Levaquin, the dr called and said I was highly allergic to Levaquin and get to his office immediately. He gave me a new antibiotic shot and within an hour I was very ill. The next morning I woke up with a fever, unable to breathe and move my left side.
