Avatar f tn This sounds like a rotator cuff injury. Rotator cuff tear of the shoulder causes pain and weakness at the joint. Complete rotator cuff tear results in inability to raise the arm away from the side under your own strength. This is usually injured due to excessive force like trying to catch a falling heavy object or lifting an extremely heavy object with an extended arm. Consult an orthopaedic surgeon for evaluation.
Avatar f tn Rotator cuff: Focal bursal surface tear at the footprint of the supraspinatus measuring 0.9 can in AP dimension and involving less than 50% of the tendon thickness. There is mild underlying tendinopathy of the supraspinatus. Labrum: question of increased T2 signal along the posterior inferior labrum seen on single view only which may represent underlying tear. Acromioclavicular joint: The AC joint is in normal configuration. Os acromiale is noted with minimal associated osseous edema.
Avatar m tn So basically I had a rotator cuff tear and biceps tendon tear repaired 5 years ago and my shoulder really started bugging me lately so I had a Cat Scan done on it. I see my doctor next week but I just wanted to get an idea of what my results may be and I obtained a copy of the report but having trouble understanding some of it. Hope you can help! These were the Impressions: 1)Status post tendon-to-bone rotator cuff repair. Suture anchor intact.

Avatar f tn I recently have beed diagnosed with a tear in the rotator cuff but much more painful is the tear of the deltoid. I am an avid golfer and tennis player. two othorpedic surgerons said DO NOT have surgery and one says if I want my quality of life back to have the surgery. The pain is a 10 when there are certain upper movements. I have been reading about hte surgeries and am not comfortable about the outcome of surgery. What can you suggest?
Avatar f tn There are many things that could be causing your symptoms, such as arthritis, rotator cuff inflammation, rotator cuff tear, etc. You should really see a physician to have this xrayed and possibly have an MRI to check for inflammation and tearing. Hope this helps. Good luck.
4341904 tn?1365695144 s done they where normal I have had blood and urine test done all normal. The Dr. told me he thought it was my Rotator Cuff I had an MRI done and will find out the results this coming week. The pain has gotten worse recently I can't even stand to lay on my back any more where as before it was just my left side I couldn't lay on.The pain in the front is right below where my neck ends on the left side.
Avatar m tn Your doctor will tell you whether or not it is required. A rotator cuff that is damaged to a certain extent will not heal on its own, and will only get worse. I can promise you that the surgery and recovery are a long, arduous process. The first month is the worst, and the physical therapy is tough. In my opinion, my doctor did not prepare for what I was up against in terms of recovery.
Avatar m tn Is the tendonitis in your Rotator Cuff? I ask this because Rotator Cuff Tedonitis is also commonly called Shoulder Tendonitis. Pain can be even more extreme when you sleep on the shoulder. Again it's important to obtain proper treatment to avoid this becoming a Chronic Condition. I'd really consult a specialist. Please let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn The first MRI and arthrogram before my rot. cuff tear and surgery I believe showed a labral tear. Would this cause all the severe pain I am having in my upper bicep area? I have had this pain before the rot. cuff surgery after..then Doc did a bicep ten. to no avail...the pain is the same and it interferes with my quality of life. My husband has to help with everything! Is there anyway you could review my 2 MRI's if I email them to you? Just your expertise opinion Doctor Gross?

1205014 tn?1265727913 You have involvement of supraspinatus, infraspinatus and long head of biceps. Rotator cuff consists of supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subcapularis muscles. Surgical management is indicated for a rotator cuff tear that does not respond to non surgical management and is associated with weakness, loss of function, and limited motion. Take care!
Avatar n tn I get pain in my left shoulder when I do any overhead lifting and it is more difficult to raise and lower my left arm and shakier. Physical therapy did not help me. Will my rotator cuff tear heal on its own or do I require surgery to be able to return back to overhead lifting? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I have been advised to have an operation (arthroscopic) to the tendons of my rigth shoulder. The procedure is to repair the rotator cuff tendon and the biceps tendon. This could be due to an old injury as I was analyzed some years back with a frozen shoulder. Recently the pain and disconfort on my rigth shoulder was accelerated by exercising at the gym. I have now rested for 6months and the pain has gone away but I have lost some power in my right shoulder.

Avatar f tn Remember, the rotator cuff is make up of 4 different parts, so you can tear or injure one and still have range of motion with minimal loss. However, when just one is damaged or torn it can be very painful(especially, when that move is tied to the particular damaged part of the cuff...such as picking something up with a bend in your elbow..), and the pain can radiate down the arm. You may also have some arthritis built up in the A.C.
1021719 tn?1297370001 It is always good to go for strengthening of muscles and your Rotator cuff by Physical therapy to cure this and keep surgery as the last option. Take care and follow up near your Orthopedician.
Avatar m tn Shoulder impingement syndrome is a result of damage to rotator cuff. Rotator cuff is the muscles and tendons around the shoulder joint which enable the arm to move in all directions. This can occur in sports persons like in swimming, golf, over head arm movements and in rheumatoid arthritis. It is difficult to say what it is until physical examination and x-rays are seen. It could be dislocation or a fracture or rotator cuff injury. Consult a orthopedician for further assistance. Best.
