levaquin and ms

Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.

Now with episodic painful stabbing sensation in soft tissue rt foot. Concerned about short and long term effects or late effects since I have MS and do not have mobility issues until now.

I have taken 2 treatments, the first interferon helped both the MS and the HEP C, but the Ribfiravin, and PEG, did not respond and I was very sick on these drugs. The doc I was seeing at the time said that if I was not responding to the drugs that his choice was not to treat. Prior to all of this I was improving with my MS and I felt my enzymes were under control, they were never over 100. I appreciate anyone's response to this, I am alone and I am lost.

I am very concerned, as it seems everyday, there is a new symptom. I know that levaquin assaults the CNS, but the photophobia and hearing probs did'nt start til 3 yrs after the levaquin. The ears seem to be aggravated by the vicodin, though it did'nt cause the problem to start with. I obviously have some sort of nerve inflammation from the neck up. Please help ! Thank you!

An ekg and labwork were also normal. Though the neurologist has ruled out TIA/CVA, MS, ALS and tumor, I am still concerned about MS or ALS. My left leg has also felt "strange" but my strength seems to be intact. I have heard that levaquin CAN cause peripheral neuropathy and that it is often irreversible. I would actually prefer this all to be anxiety, but really just want an answer. I am scheduled for an EMG and NCVs in 3 weeks.

They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.

You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.

MRI shows 3 very small non specific white spots between the grey and white matter. I am still concerned about MS but not sure if it would show up as a polyneuropathy on a NCV test. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?

Many antibioitics cause reflux. Levaquin is a strong one and is known to cause problems. I would recommend that you take the Levaquin with dinner tonight (it is supposed to be taken with food) and then enjoy the evening with your husband so you can both monitor your symptoms. If you have the difficulty breathing again, you should go to an ER. Also, if you are an asthmatic, you probably just need to use your inhaler on a regular basis while you get over this infection.

Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.

I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.

I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? Hello ! I went to my Dr,( Reg. GP) because of severe hip pain, very tight muscles around my waist, could'nt hardly bend, painful to sit as it stressed my tailbone. My muscles were so constricted, I could barley walk. I have had spasms in my lower back off & on over the last few years.

If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.

I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!

At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort. also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days. i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.

hi I took 42 pills of levaquin and it blew my nerves like a bomb. I don't know if I had ms before but was always very tired and no exercise ability but no pain except headaches.. I took the lev and I blew apart like a bomb. I have all over pins and needles. I cannot breathe right, my heart pounds non stop.. I would really like to connect with you.. I went back to doctor and went on another cycle of levaquin. The swelling still remained and the spot remained too, until I took a Q tip and wiped it away myself (lol gross, but it was bothering me). Ever since the second cycle of levaquin I have had the feeling of my throat swelling up, and a sensation of a lump whenever I swallow. I can swallow and breath fine, it just feels like tightness, like I am being choked.

I was prescribed six 500mg Levaquin tablets to treat Strep Throat and a potential sinus infection. I only took 4 of the 6 pills since the side effects were getting to much to handle. I started on 3/12/2010 to 3/15/2010. Here were the side effects: -nausea -no appetite -headaches -dizziness -diarrhea -anxiety attacks -confusion, like you don't feel like yourself After I stopped taking it, my nausea and appetite returned gradually in the following two days.

I too suffer from Levaquin toxcity ruptured shoulders bicep and now I believe my hip is ruptured I live in pain everyday Nothing they give me completely gets rid of the pain. I am seeing a chiro for Levaquin detox just started so no progress yet this drug should beremoved from the treatment of any matter.

The levaquin has had very minimal impact overall and I wish he’d given me more cipro and a longer cycle. Has anyone had a similar case where you relapses quickly? If so, were you given a new med and did that work? Were you given the same med? Any other ideas or insights would be helpful.
