Avatar f tn I understand that synthyroid must be taken at different times from my other medications. I am on 3 other medications. I take the synthyroid (complete thyroidectomy Dec 2008) and coumadin (DVT) at the same time and then 1 1/2 hrs later, I take topamax (migraine) and protonix (GERD). Is this enough time between each?
Avatar f tn Went back after 2 weeks and the dr said the bladder infection was gone, but I had to keep on with the Levaquin as I was showing signs of pneumonia and he took another blood test. On the 3rd week of Levaquin, the dr called and said I was highly allergic to Levaquin and get to his office immediately. He gave me a new antibiotic shot and within an hour I was very ill. The next morning I woke up with a fever, unable to breathe and move my left side.
552012 tn?1272855991 The best sites to learn about Coumadin and the various types of heart valve are 1. Cardiosmart 2. American heart association 3. Mayo Clinic patient information site. The best mechanical valves are the St.Jude valve and the ATS valve. There are also other mechanical valves but the largest world wide experience is with these valves.
Avatar n tn Great site! I've bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks for the information.

Avatar m tn Well, if you goal is to help somebody, you have done it with me. Well done and I am very grateful. Now we must do something about your user name...how about, "Healthy and Hearty." Gee, 48 hours without flecainide and I'm still on sinus rhythm. I feel like hell with this ear infection and the Levaquin, but so far, so good. I am keeping my journal daily and I won't bore you with a day to day synopsis, but I would like to help you in return. I am a good listener.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
168348 tn?1379357075 Just wondering bcz I am on the Levaquin 500mgs 1X day for 7 days for a pretty bad urinary tract infection / small stone that passed (kidney) and along with normal side effects like gas, and feeling some tired/dizzy which I usually get from Levaquin I keep getting chills and more tired than normal but it comes and goes and yet my clinical symptoms for the UTI/stone passing are cleared up I do not think the chills are related to the medical problem and really wondering if after 5 days my TSH is
Avatar f tn However, there is a major drug-drug interaction with warfarin (Coumadin) and Bactrim. Please follow up closely with signs and symptoms of bleed and check your INR again.
Avatar n tn You should contact your caregiver for advice regarding your medication as they would have your medical history, general health, etc. There is a noted drug interaction with Viagra and warfarin in certain patients. In patients who have pulmonary hypertension, there is an increased risk of bleeding when taking these medications together, etc.. Thanks for your question, take care.
Avatar m tn Pradaxa is taken twice a day, shorter life in the body and is cleared from the body quicker than coumadin (warfarin). With warfarin, Vitamin K is used to reverse overanticoagulation in patients, there is no antidote for Pradaxa. Warfarin a lot cheaper than Pradaxa. Good luck with your ablation. Hope you do well on Pradaxa! Best wishes!!
1570981 tn?1295831355 It says something about the interaction of these two drugs. And my english arent that good to translate the meaning of the words. " Fluvoxamine may also inhibit the elimination and increase the blood levels of theophylline (Theodur, Uniphyl), warfarin (Coumadin), alprazolam (Xanax), and triazolam (Halcion)." - from the web. what does this means? help!!!
Avatar n tn I was put on Warfarin (Coumadin) but was not given any warning about alcohol and at least on 2 occasions drank quite heavily (about 5 or 6 glasses of wine in one evening). I have had a series of bodily changes including increased veins on my nose face and on the palms of my hand. Upon returning to the States, I consulted with a doctor who suggested that I get off coumadin given that my clots were in superficial veins. However, two days following my getting off coumadin, (1.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor. My view is NO! A pacemaker does nothing to stop AFib and the AFib is why Coumadin is being taken.
179856 tn?1333547362 Me who reads every single pamphlet and drug interaction and has spent six? years here on this forum saying the exact same advice that I ignored myself. I got sick this weekend pretty badly and went to the doctors. I was prescribed a new antibiotic and was told it was great stuff. OK went home and took it and felt worse. Couldn't even get out of bed for four days. Finally got to a computer today and googled it up........ DO NOT TAKE WITH LIVER DAMAGE MY CAUSE FATALITIES.
Avatar n tn Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.
Avatar f tn Duke University Medical Center recommended the target range of 3.0 to 3.5 for the St Jude Medical leaflet valve. I have been on it since 1993. The instability has been only the last three years or so. Here's a link to a presentation that suggests vitamin K and the logic for doing so; http://www.dcpa.us/slides09/sun05.trujillo.vitk.

Avatar f tn She also takes coumadin to thin her blood, and I have read that excelon could cause bleeding. Could there be a drug interaction between these two drugs that may cause internal bleeding to occur? Thank you for your time.
Avatar n tn my mother in law is on coumadin and has arthritis in her knees and back. Can she take or use things like ginger,or glucosamine sulfate without affecting the coumadin?
Avatar n tn before any surgery, he would have to bridge from the Coumadin to another medication such as an injectable. And then they could do his surgery, I would presume.
Avatar m tn Cordarone, Coumadin, and Metoprolol, I recognize them because I take them also. Have you used a drug interaction checker? drugs.com has a great one. I will tell you from experience the cordarone and the coumadin interact badly but is manageable you just have to watch your INR from the coumadin because the cordarone makes your body need less coumadin.

Avatar n tn of light beer is an extremely minimal dose of alcohol, especially if you are only doing it occasionally. I am on coumadin and drink more alcohol than that without any problems. But talk to you doctor, as kenkeith says, because everyone is different.
Avatar n tn My father in law is an alcoholic who has Atrial Fibrillation and is on coumadin. His cardiologist will not perform a cardioversion for him until his INR is within an acceptable level but it never is! The coumadin nurses frequently tell him his levels are too high and tell him to not take any coumadin for days at a time then the cardiologist tells him his INR is top low and they post pone the cardioversion.
