Went back after 2 weeks and the dr said the bladder infection was gone, but I had to keep on with the Levaquin as I was showing signs of pneumonia and he took another blood test. On the 3rd week of Levaquin, the dr called and said I was highly allergic to Levaquin and get to his office immediately. He gave me a new antibiotic shot and within an hour I was very ill. The next morning I woke up with a fever, unable to breathe and move my left side.

Ask your doctor. My view is NO! A pacemaker does nothing to stop AFib and the AFib is why Coumadin is being taken.

Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.

would the coumadin and fish oil combined be the cause of this bleeding and can fish oil alone sustain my need to thin my blood for arrythmia? I am afraid to take the coumadin again. I've been off that and the fish oil since Oct. 17.

My father in law is an alcoholic who has Atrial Fibrillation and is on coumadin. His cardiologist will not perform a cardioversion for him until his INR is within an acceptable level but it never is! The coumadin nurses frequently tell him his levels are too high and tell him to not take any coumadin for days at a time then the cardiologist tells him his INR is top low and they post pone the cardioversion.

We usually admit the patients 3 days prior to the surgery when we withhold coumadin and start heparin once the INR is less than 2.0. After surgery we usually start the heparin 12 hours after the surgery and coumadin shortly thereafter. The patient usually don't leave the hospital until their INR above 2.0. She has really bad swelling in her legs, from the knees down, including her ankles and feet. Since her Coumadin dosage was doubled due to low INR levels about 6 months ago, the swelling has gotten worse. I understand that correlation is not causation, but is this common? Many antibioitics cause reflux. Levaquin is a strong one and is known to cause problems. I would recommend that you take the Levaquin with dinner tonight (it is supposed to be taken with food) and then enjoy the evening with your husband so you can both monitor your symptoms. Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.

Incidently, the day my father was being discharged from the rehab nursing facility, staff drew him aside and said your wife just died. This just reinforces his desire to stay away from the Coumadin.
