letrozole tamoxifen

This was tried years ago, since tamoxifen structurally is similar to clomid. Tamoxifen works, however clomid works better.

I am slowly seeing a few pounds come off whereas on Tamoxifen nothing came off no matter how hard I tried. Is it possible that I am losing the tamoxifen weight and will not gain on Femara.

I don't know about Femara but I have gained weight on Tamoxifen. I get to stop taking it next month and I can't wait to see if I lose some of this weight.

The Doctor recently traded out her Tamoxifen for Letrozole. As far as I know, Tamoxifen is used to prevent the large majority of the hormone being fed on by the cell, whereas Letrozole is supposed to stop the body producing it completely. My mother is 49 at the moment, 50 on September 10th. Her doctor also said that Letrozole can only slow the process down. I have been researching like mad for the last two days, looking up all kinds of treatments.

You welcome! Just a suggestion about hormonal therapy to lower estrogen levels. If you are post menopausal,and your bone density test doesn't show you have osteoporosis,you could ask your doctor to prescribe a much less expensive drug,like Femara's generic version "Letrozole" or Arimidex generic version "Anastrazol" If you are pre-menopausal, then Tamoxifen would be also good and I believe it's the least expensive one. Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.

There have been studies looking at anti estrogen and anti aromatase drugs for women with recurrence ovarian cancer. The drugs that have been used include tamoxifen, arimidex, letrozole. The response rate has varied from 0 to 50 %.. there may be correlation with the hormone receptor status of your tumor but this has not been well studied. the side effects of these drugs are few - hot flashes, vaginal dryness, risk of blood clots, and more rarely prescription eye changes.

Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. I used to have 9 to 16 days of bleeding before letrozole! After being on letrozole, how many days are you bleeding? This is my second time with Letrozole and I had 9 days of bleeding the first time. Letrozole is effective in increasing final adult height. Many medical studies have shown that. Most doctors don't know it yet. The recommended dose of 2.5 mg is actually not necessary. 0.3 mg will provide similar effects.

But i have stopped bleeding on 22/08/16(is it normal?).On top of that my doctor has advised me to take letrozole from 2 to 6 days during my period.My question is that,should i continue taking letrozole even if i do not bleed?

I finally broke down after 26 mo of TTC, 8 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs and trigger shots and went to the RE for advice. After AF shows in 2 weeks or so - we will start on letrozole with CD3 blood work and U/S and then do another IUI. If that is unsuccessful - we will do IVF. I had my 1st appt with an RE today. He wants to do a superovulation / IUI with Letrozole. I am to take 2 - 2.5mg tablets days 3 - 7. After reading up on this, it is the same thing as Femara right? Has anyone taken this med and does it actually work alone? My other ? is, he said that we can try this for 3 - 4 cycles, but after that we have to think about IVF?? The only things that I have tried in the past are 4 cycles of clomid and 1 IUI. Why would he skip injectables??
