OK, I have irregular cycles and I also have PCOS, my ob said for my husband and I to. Start trying to conceive, my ob upped my dosage of Metformin to 2, 500mg a day and to stop taking my birth control. He said if I don't have a period within 35 days come back, well its been two days on Metformin and I have already started, but I was wondering how long do I have to take this before I can get Clomid?

My doctor put me on Clomid 100 mg (day 3-7) for three months. Besides the side effects for me were pretty bad (mood swings, crying for no reason, vision disturbances, ovary pain, back pain) I didn't ovulate until day 21. I used OPK's but no luck in detecting my LH surge. So I phoned the fertility clinic and they did E2 and LH. The same day they called me back and my E2 was very high so I had an ultrasound.

I had been using clomid, but my lining is very thin so my RE switched me. It worked great for me. On clomid I had 2 follies. On letrozole I had 6! I didn't get a BFP but it was bc my progesterone was too low. I liked it much better than clomid-no side effects at all. Good luck to you!

88 of synthroid now for the last 10 months. I recently went to my gyno and he took some blood to check my tsh because I was there. I usually go to another doctor but I let him take the blood. My results came back with a tsh of .12. They wanted to raise my synthroid to .1 . Shouldn't they want to lower the dosage? Thanks for listening.

Hi, I am also on the dosage of Letrozole from D3 to D7. I wanted to know, is it always effective to take this medicine . I also suffer from PCOS. I am on second cycle now and had my MC on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body? Is there anyone else who has similar issues ?

Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.

We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.

my new Dr plans to put me on Letrozole...now I do know that a lot of people do get side effects from Letrozole as well but it does not thin the uterine lining like clomid does...so is better that ways... lets see how that goes for me next month!

i was told by my doctor i am anovulatory which made me depressed and i was on letrozole for 6 months but dint work..this is the first month i am given letrozole plus FSH injections and this made me produce one dear follicle which was 19mm and was given trigger shot 12 days ago.I took a pregnancy test 9 days after trigger shot which came out negative which confirmed trigger shot was out of my system...but still sore nipples...when should i take the next pregnancy test to see the confirmed result.

Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?

I have seen lot of posts and spent hours on the forums wherever I found mention of advanced bone age/Anastrozole/Letrozole. It seems there are quite a few posts under Pediatric Endo forum but not able to find any answers if any parents tried Anastrozole/Letrozole and what has been their experience regarding delaying bone age and side effects. I will appreciate if any parent with experience of using Anastrozole for their kids may share their experience.

I don't understand your question .... if you mean the difference between Femara and Letrozole .... if you mean the difference between the two names there isn't any. Letrozole is the Generic Name for Femara. Regards ....

i did use Letrozole for 6 cycles...but no BFP...there were no side effects either....just got cramps during those entire cycles...i know 2 of my patients who used d same...one of them who had PCOD concieved with timed intercourse n letroz...d other who had endo like me didn't...however she got preggo by ICSI...Letroz is now banned in several countries but here in India its widely used....

well i recieved my negative beta today and they want me to do a cycle of letrozole or femara which is an oral pill simliar to clomid.. my question is has anyone ever tried this med before, any side effects and any success..

My gyno diagnosed me as hypothyroid and I also have a nodule in the right side of my throat. He has set me up for an ultrasound in April. My dosage of the generic for levothyroxin is .25 mcg. This diagnoses was in October. I have been on meds since that time. I am still extremely fatigued...I'm talking about just dragging. My regular med. dr checked my tsh when I was at his office this week and wants to increase my dosage to .50 mcg.

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Took letrozole and injectibles and had 3 IUIs done in Dec2010, Jan 2011 and April 2011... all BFNs... took a 4 month break from meds... started TTC journey again in Dec 2011.. Lezra 2.5mg days 2-6, Gonal F 75IU on CD 7-9.. U/S on Day 11 showed leading fllicle size as 11mm.. upped Gonal F to 150IU on Days 11 & 12... CD 13... No growth at all.. leading follicle size was 12mm... cycle bust!! Jan 2012 .
